Chronology of the Known World

This is a timeline of the collective consciousness: a chronological ordering of everything, fictional and nonfictional, that belongs to our shared culture. It includes things that are part of general knowledge; not necessarily things that "everyone knows," but things one might know without specialized knowledge. It operates on the Liberty Valance principle: When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.
