2024 North Carolina lieutenant gubernatorial election
The 2024 North Carolina lieutenant gubernatorial election will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect the
lieutenant governor of North Carolina , concurrently with the
2024 U.S. presidential election , as well as
elections to the
United States Senate ,
elections to the
United States House of Representatives , and various other
state and local elections . Incumbent
Republican Lieutenant Governor
Mark Robinson was eligible to seek re-election to a second term in office, but is instead
running for governor .
[1]
Primary elections took place on March 5, 2024. Because 11 candidates are running in the Republican primary, there exists the possibility of no candidate receiving the 30% of the vote required to avoid a second primary. If no candidate reaches that threshold, the runner-up can request a second primary (in other words, a runoff), to be held on May 14, 2024.
