Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.
This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.
That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at

Christopher Irvine (known as Chris Jericho) returned to WWE after a two year hiatus, debuting on the
November 192007 edition of RAW following months of speculation.
Welcome to the second issue of the
WP:PW newsletter. We apologize for the delay. There was an issue regarding the delivery process.
Anyways, we had a lot of good feedback for the last newsletter. We not only received feedback at the
newsletter's talk page, but I also received some messages on my talk page as well. Thank you to those who responded. The only complaint we received was about
typos, and we will try our best to keep the newsletter error-free.
Please continue to offer feedback and new ideas for the next issue. The more we have, the more we'll know how to improve the newsletter. Again, thanks!

Personal life
I noticed that you placed a "trivia" tag in multiple articles in their "Personal life" sections. The personal life section is a standard in
WP:PW biographical articles and is not considered a trivia section as it is not supposed to be a collection of random facts, but rather more about the person's life. Thus, as per standard, I have undone all of them. Also, I would think that tags would be unnecessary in most of the articles you tagged; they are already GA status. At any rate, thanks for your
help in making these articles the best they can be. --

I just wanted to stop by and drop a note: I just reverted your edit to this article.
There was already a section dedicated to Mr. Rose's time with the WWF and, and his induction into the WWE Hall-of-Fame that included an appropriate reference. Your edit seemed a bit out of place being added to the end of a discussion about his time in baseball.

Thanks for the note! I think it is a bit tricky. My understanding of an introduction is that it should be relatively short about establishing primary notability (in Pete Rose's case, that he is a baseball player who set many records, and who got into trouble with his gambling. That was my thinking. Certainly, his connection to wrestling is notable, but is (and I hate to sound judgmental here) I think secondary to his baseball involvement. To turn it around, if a rather famous professional wrestler had started playing baseball in the major leagues, but was far more well know for his being a wrestler, I would say that the baseball reference shouldn't be in the intro. Mind you, this is an opinion based on what I have seen in similar articles, and I could be wrong. You might even try writing a question on
Talk Page:Pete Rose, and ask if there is a consensus on that (I could be way off base. In any event, good luck with your editing, and completely ignore the remark directly below this one. Peace!

The WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter is starting up an interview segment that has been in the works for some time now. The current schedule for interviews can be seen

No problem. The reason its discussed in the talk pages, is to not cause "edit conflicts". For tags, they would be fine to add like.... Shawn Michaels is a fan of the
Dallas Cowboys, that would be fine to add. But stuff like who they were trained by don't need a tag, as mentioned in the mid-part of the article. If you have more questions or concerns, just go

Jeff Hardy was suspended by
WWE for 60 days on
March 11 for violating WWE's Substance Abuse and Drug Policy. On
March 14, he lost his home in,
Cameron, North Carolina, late friday night due to a
fire. Fire Department officials currently cannot confirm what was the cause of the fire. Reports also say that Jeff's brother,
Matt Hardy, saw smoke coming out of Jeff's house.

WikiProject Christianity Coordinators : The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct.The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
The nomination period for coordinators is currently ongoing at
Election 2008
Nominations for open positions will be open through 23:59 (UTC) on April 30 and project members should vote for any candidates they support by April 11 2008.
The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the Lead Coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next four candidates will become Coordinators.
Our
membership continues to expand. It is currently at 184 users. 86 new users have joined the WikiProject since
last issue. Please make them feel welcomed!

At
WrestleMania XXIV,
Shawn Michaels defeated
Ric Flair after executing the
Sweet Chin Music, which as a result, meant that Ric Flair was forced to retire from professional wrestling. The next night, at Flair's retirement ceremony on
Raw,
Triple H congratulated Flair for his 35 year career, and brought out retired and current superstars to thank him. Michaels, and the whole WWE roster came out later to thank him as well.
The Undertaker defeated Edge to become the new World Heavyweight Champion forcing him to submit to the Gogoplata. During the pyro celebration for Undertaker's 16-0 streak, a freak accident occurred just before WrestleMania went off-air. During the pryo shooting to the entrance stage, a firework went to the upper-level section of the crowd on top. Forty-five fans were injured, and currently, WWE is trying to investigate what was the cause of the pyrotechnic malfunction

A pay-per-view event chronology has been added as a feature to the
Wrestling event infobox, please assist the project in adding this feature to professional wrestling pay-per-view event articles.
The C-Class rating has been introduced. The rating falls between articles that are more than Start class, but less than B-Class.
The number of stub articles has decreased to its lowest level since the project began its focus on improving them. The goal is to get the number below 600, and we're getting close. Vince McMahon was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Promax|BDA Conference for "for his remarkable accomplishments and innovations in global marketing, advertising and promotion."
WWE is currently holding "Million Dollar Mania", where they give out prize money totalling $1 million on
Raw to viewers watching the show at home.
The C-Class rating has been introduced. The rating falls between articles that are more than Start-Class, but less than B-Class.
Immediately put into effect, our project has begun use of the List-Class rating. The List-Class rating is for list articles that are of less quality than B-Class articles.
Our goal is to get the number of Stub-Class articles below 600. The current count is 631. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list has been placed on the

Hello from the new
Christian films task force! I was recently apart of founding a task force, so this is the story. For several months, I would not only contribute to
Christian films, groups, etc., but I'd also see other users working on similar articles. I really wanted to create a project for us to work from.
Filmcom contacted me about trying to get a task force going, so we began working together on it. When it appeared the idea was dying, we continued to fight, and several other users joined!
Thanks to the efforts of many users, I'd like to introduce you to the Christian films task force! We are currently having a bot tag all Christian film-related articles, and we are working to define our project scope. We now have
our own icon and shortcut (
WP:CFTF), with ten users signed out thus far - these are just some of the things that have been happening in the last few days. If you have any interest in joining such a project, we welcome everyone to join and get involved.

The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 76 FAs, 8 FLs, and 148 GAs. We gained new recognized content in each field, with 4 FAs promoted, 2 FLs, and 3 GAs. Congratulations and a big thank you to all those who worked on these articles!
I am still working on the categorization matter. With any luck, we should have some results by the end of the month. There are also some discussions regarding project related activities at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. One issue in particular that might be addressed is possible elections of new coordinators. Anyone interested in serving in such a capacity is more than welcome to indicate as much.

There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the
General Forum page.

Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Mutual aid society is designed to be a place where editors seeking specific assistance from other members can with luck find others who have the abilities or materials they need, and
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Special collections is, at this point, the beginnings of a list of publicly accessible special collections libraries which our members might find useful. Anyone who lives near one of the collections listed is encouraged to visit them and see if they can find anything they would like to read or use to improve some of our articles. There are always some discussions regarding project related activities at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. I think the timing of the call for elections might have been bad (summer vacation, what was I thinking?), and have thus changed the period for individuals to run to be one of the project's coordinators. Individuals who have a particular interest or knowledge of specific fields within Christianity are encouraged to run, to serve as a kind of "unit coordinator" for that topic.

As part of
the project's 2009 New Year's Resolutions, there was an ongoing effort to decrease the number of stubs to 10%. As of January 2, we are at 10.14%, with 476 articles currently in
Category:Stub-Class Professional wrestling articles. It still would be greatly appreciated if members would expand, source and improve stub articles, and a list of well-known wrestlers and tag teams that should be fairly easy to improve is included on the
stub article subpage.
This section is intended to warn users about potential targets of
vandalism and
speculation: professional wrestling events from major
promotions for the month of January.
Sheik Abdul Bashir won one of the
Feast or Fired briefcases, which was revealed to have the pinkslip in it. This storyline was put in place so Bashir could legitimately leave TNA.
Roxxi broke her ankle in two places at the Impact! taping on December 21.

This month marks the observation of
Pentecost, one of the most important feast of the Christian liturgical year. It is our hope here that all of you, regardless of your religious affiliation (if any), find that the holiday, and its accompanying activities, an enjoyable and beneficial experience. We also hope that this "Birthday of the Church" is one which gives you the same joy as the birthday of yourself or your loved ones.
Ichthus is the successor to the long running WikiProject Christianity newsletter, run under the WikiProject Christianity’s
Outreach department. As such, you will continue to see information about our latest featured and good articles, DYKs, as well as new members who have joined our project. You might also see links to Christianity related news from the mainstream media!
As many of you may know, our unofficial mascot, dear Wikipe-tan, hasn't yet indicated any particular beliefs. However, yes, as we all know, ahem, some people might object to our beloved mascot running around in a
French maid outfit. People do talk, you know. ;) If anyone might be able to develop an image of the dear lady in a image more, well, "Christian," I would like to see perhaps a vote for next month as to which, if any, image of the dear girl we might make our own unofficial mascot. Please post your images

As many of you might now, there are a large number of other Wikimedia Foundation projects, including WikiSource, Wiktionary, Wikibooks, WikiQuote, and others. I certainly believe that Wikibooks and Wikiquote might be among the more directly relevant sister projects. If any of you can think of any particular efforts in these other projects which you think would benefit from more input, please let us know here, so we can help spread the word around.
Ichthus will spotlight a different subproject or workgroup of WikiProject Christianity. This edition will spotlight on our vital
Outreach department. This comparatively small, but vital, project unit is dedicated to welcoming new editors to Wikipedia and the Christianity related content, and to providing information to the various project members, in forms like this newsletter.
The scope of articles with which this group deals is truly enormous, and, given the wide variety of material with which we deal, we would very much welcome the input of more individuals, particularly individuals who are particularly knowledgeable of the less well-known and less frequently monitored articles related to Christianity.
Speaking personally, I would be very, very gratified if we were to have this become a very, very large and active unit, with members from the broad spectrum of Christian beliefs, practices, and groups. The broader the spectrum and areas of expertise of members we have, the better we will be able to help manage the content. Please consider whether you believe you might be able to contribute in this vital area.

Wikimedia Foundation report
Wikisource currently has many old texts available, most of them in the public domain. This is a potentially very valuable source for several things, including for instance links to Biblical verses, because we know that it will, basically, be around as long as we are.
This section would include a rather large image of a specific work of art, with a link to the most directly relevant article.

A new WikiProject relating directly to Christian history is being developed at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian history. Also, a group specifically devoted to the Mennonites and other Anabaptists is now up and running at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Anabaptist work group. Anyone interested in assisting with the development of these groups and topics is more than welcome to do so.

Wikibooks welcomes the development of textbooks of all kinds, children's books, recipes, and other material. It currently has just under 2500 books, including several Wikijunior books for the 12 and under population. There is, at present, not even a book on Christianity. Anyone interested in helping develop such a textbook is more than welcome to do so.

A new WikiProject relating directly to Christian history is being developed at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian history. Anyone interested in assisting with the development of these groups and topics is more than welcome to do so.
