Update (August 4): Article has been deleted for non-notability, probably will not be re-created.
The Barbie Kardashian case article was created two days before I posted this, and is currently being discussed at AfD.
The source that the article cites the most is The Spectator, which is mostly composed of opinion pieces and thus likely inappropriate for a living-person related article.
Even if the source was reliable, the specific piece refers to Kardashian as a man and uses he/him pronouns to refer to her throughout, with the piece arguing that "The validation of [Kardashian's] gender identity is considered more important than the security of the [cisgender] women in Limerick’s prison estate. The reorganisation of the prison around flattering the identity of a dangerous [trans woman] is a disgrace. It is state-endorsed misogyny." (Square brackets indicate changes made for clarity and to avoid misgendering Kardashian.)

Today I learned of 16th century polymath Georg Joachim Rheticus because his story is featured in Queerstory: Forgotten Figures from Queer History, an anthology of plays which opened this weekend in San Francisco. [1] While his sexuality is not the most notable thing about Rheticus, it would appear that prejudice against it had a significant detrimental effect on his scientific career. His Wikipedia article is not currently tagged as being of interest to the LGBT studies project, but it seems like it might be, so I thought I would suggest it here. Cheers! But in reverse? Idk if this is the right place to ask, but I dabble in filling graphic requests and just started one relating to trans healthcare, except the person who requested it has since been banned. If anyone wants to help me find the data needed to create the map, pop over to the
Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Map workshop#US State Map. The request was for a state map of healthcare bans, and even if the requester turned out to be a sock, it feels important. The goal is a map similar to the
bathroom bill and
Fairness in Women's Sports Act maps, but for
Transgender rights in the United States#Treatment for minors. Any help filling in that table would be greatly appreciated! And if this is the wrong place to ask, can someone maybe point me in the right direction?

During arguments with another user over content within this article, which briefly included a WP:COMMONNAME argument, I have performed a WP:BEFORE on this subject and could not find any sources to establish notability for either of them. While my next step is an attempt at deletion, I do not see any success with a PROD, and while I would like to send one or both of these articles to AfD, I am currently not inclined, as my search was only limited to English language sources. Is there anyone more experienced with this subject able to assess this article and see if it's possible to AfD? I will support deletion if the arguments are strong enough. Thanks! Jalen Folf (talk) 20:18, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Forgive me if this is the incorrect place to discuss this, but I have noticed that Wikipedia has a demographics of sexual orientation article, but not a demographics of gender identity article. In 2021, both Canada and the UK included transgender people in their censuses for the first time, so this might be a good time to begin. I would be happy to get one going, but am personally not much of a statistician.
I have also noticed that a majority of articles on cities include demography sections that cover population, ethnicity and religion, but hardly ever include any LGBT demographics. Is there any legitimate reason why this is the case, or do we need to start work on this also? Thanks! JamJamSvn ( talk) 03:47, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

I am a major contributor to the article Derek Williams (musician), an LGBT+ activist with extensively documented history in New Zealand, Australia and since 2006, the UK. Since there is a substantial section on his LGBT+ activism in the article, I have recently added this Wikiproject to the Talk page, and it just needs someone else with experience in assessing for Wikiprojects to rate it on the project's Content Assessment Scale. The article itself has already been rated B-Class (low importance) by other editors in nominated music and biography projects after extensive vetting, so I am hoping this LGBT activism section meets a similar standard, and that it is relevant to this Wikiproject. If not, please suggest improvements below, or an alternative Wikiproject to approach! Thanks. Chrisdevelop ( talk) 23:00, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

I noticed that there are few task groups active within this project. Have you considered a comprehensive set of task groups within the LGBT studies.
The specific reason I found it useful was the difference in importance assessment between the India and Women and gender issues in the talk page of NLSA v. Union of India (2014). The reason I propose this is because some articles might not be important within the LGBT studies, but could be highly important within a sub-domain. Some sub-domains for consideration:
Alternatively, if there is no interest in creating comprehensive set of task groups within the LGBT studies, Could you consider the following task force: Law / Case Law / LGBT in the India work group.
Additionally, I realize there is no importance assessment parameter within the WikiProject LGBT studies, is that a deliberate choice? Because, there is Core and Vital articles. If there was a deliberate decision to remove importance assessment parameter, could you consider adding it to the "Assessing articles" under Editing? It would help a new member like me can quickly understanding the policy stance of this WikiProject.
P.S I have been trying to find about Task Groups and Quality assessment, but it's confusing. If it is something I could have directly proposed without writing here in the talk page, I apologize. Please, if you don't mind, direct me towards appropriate page for proposing a Task Group within LGBT Studies. Nevertheless, I would still like to hear your thoughts on a comprehensive set of Task Groups and Importance Assessment. Wiki6995 ( talk) 12:06, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

The article is named Mary East and opens by describing the subject as “a female dressed as a man”, but the rest of the article calls the subject James How, uses he/him, and uses terms such as “pre-transition” and “dead name”, implying that the subject’s gender identity was definitely male. transvestite, they use
travesti(see Travesti (gender identity) - best summarized as a transfeminine third gender). No worries about mistranslating, that's a common mistake to make. The number of biographies about drag kings on Wikipedia is still very low, perhaps it could be expanded a little through the translation of these two articles:

Hey folks.
There's a bunch of speculation currently on social media and some unreliable sources (think Daily Mail equivalents) about the gender identity of the perpetrator of the recent Perry High School shooting. I don't think anything has actually been confirmed either in reliable sources or by authorities at this stage beyond the shooter's name, age, and death. I'd appreciate it if folks could add this to your watchlists and keep an eye out for any unsourced or poorly sourced content being added over the next few hours. Thanks. Can someone else please look at this massive expansion of Transmedicalism. I'm inclined to revert it entirely as a few spotchecks show the new statements are either unreferenced or synthesis (using sources that do not use the term "transmedicalism" or similar). It appears to largely be a history of transgender healthcare.
However, I wonder if anything is worth saving, whether within Transmedicalism or incorporated into a different article. — Bilorv ( talk) 21:58, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
Troilus has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. A discussion at Talk:List of fictional non-binary characters#Are they/them pronouns and/or neopronouns enough (on their own) to say a character is non-binary? may be of interest to this project. It considers whether usage of they/them pronouns or neopronouns by (or for) characters is enough, on its own, for inclusion on a list of fictional nonbinary characters. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks! Historyday01 ( talk) 19:56, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Copied from Wikipedia:WikiProject Drag Race
I think that creating a hatnote for the Drag Names would be useful, something like what is in Category:Hatnote_templates_for_names. I'm not sure any of those exactly match what is needed here, but we can make our own. I'd like to use Bianca Del Rio, BenDelaCreme, Dwayne Cooper (Milan) and Monica Beverly Hillz as samples.
Something like "In this article, the person is referred to by their drag name: Bianca Del Rio. The ending part of the drag name should not be used as a Last Name and the person should be referred to by their entire drag name when referring to the performer while in their drag persona"
Capitalize the phrase "drag name"? Have *different* a different hatnote for Dwayne Cooper, we could probably use an argument to indicate that the article name shouldn't be used, but rather a specific drag name? Naraht ( talk) 19:26, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Recently there have been some bold edits, following up a non-consensus talk discussion, re-adding the birth name. I reverted the first one as it did not answer the standing talk page question about notability under the birth name, and felt like it failed the undue weight rationale behind MOS:DEADNAME. However I have hesitated to immediately revert a second change which has shown a clear attempt to balance the weight better, and with a high quality biographical source. I still think that in essence, re-adding the birth name is in itself an attempt to put weight on it that is not provided by any sources.
I have added a section to the talk page. Antisymmetricnoise ( talk) 15:59, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
There's a growing number of trans and non-binary people who use mixed pronouns like he/they and she/they. While we have he/him, she/her, and they/them redirects, we don't have he/they, she/they, or any other common variants. Should we create redirects for mixed pronouns like this? If so what would be the target? Or is mixed pronoun use like this perhaps notable enough a topic for its own article, and then we could redirect mixed used pronouns like this to that new article? Due to a merge and some bizarre edits parts of LGBT reproduction no longer make sense. For example, it's not entirely clear what this sentence means, "many gay transgender men choose to freeze their eggs before transitioning". I'm going to try my best to correct the article but I don't have rollback rights so if someone who is familiar with this article could have a look at it that would be great because the last thing I want to do is try to fix it and make an even bigger mess of things. Please see https://www.equaldex.com for lots of good information about every country (no really, every one) including tables of rights as well as opinion polls and surveys. Also sub-national entities like states, provinces, overseas territories, etc. Turns out that editors at these 44 country articles are already aware of it, but it's worthwhile citing this in every article of this type. (I'm vouching for completeness, not necessarily for reliability as I haven't examined where they are getting their data from, but it certainly seems reliable.) There's been scholarship about the queerness of William Cowper, and I added some of it to the article. He's one of the pre-eminent British poets of the 1800s. Am I able to assign a a tag for him for this project? Or is that something someone with specific permission from the project needs to do? If I don't get an answer in a reasonable time frame, I am going to assume I am free to add the tag. Sevey13 ( talk) 08:44, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello all! In preparation for a possible article on Morgana Ignis (I'm still gathering sources), a trans woman, voice actress, and puppeteer most recently known for her voice acting as a trans female character named Sallie Mae in Helluva Boss, I found a Wikimedia category which uses her dead name (the dead name is confirmed here and the Wikidata calls her "Morgana"). I'd like to change it, but I want to cite the right policy while doing so. Would citing MOS:DEADNAME as a reason for the change (to Morgana Inis) be sufficient? Or is there some other related policy for Wikimedia. I wasn't sure if this was brought up in the past on this project or not, but I thought I'd ask here regardless.
