From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a casual researcher with an interest in history, music and politics. I support the aims of Wikipedia to be a free resource, vetted by its community of researchers for accuracy, objectivity and currency. My first attempt at drafting a biographical article (Derek Williams (musician) - see below) took several years to get right, during which time I learned how to code the pages, and how Wikipedia policies are implemented and monitored. My main contribution to Wikipedia is now to source and supply citations from reliable sources where requested, also to improve structure of existing articles, and to contribute new material for articles that need expanding or balancing. Aside from Williams and GaLTaS, it is not my intention to create new articles.

This user has publicly declared that he has a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Derek Williams (musician).

This article follows from a radio interview I conducted with Derek Williams on Miskin Radio when I was one of the presenters. During that interview, I expressed surprise there was at that time no Wikipedia article about him. When I started researching, I discovered a wealth of newspaper articles, mentions in scholarly works and music industry credits. I have never met the subject nor do I have any familial, financial or other direct personal or historical connection with him, however I consulted with him several times to verify the resources cited in the original draft article, which I later abandoned after another editor took this over, using some of my original draft article as a guide. Numerous other editors have made contributions and have given helpful suggestions along the way.
