Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created User:Sigmacollect, and I noticed that your username, "Sigmacollect", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Whilst WP:CORPNAME's are permitted on German language Wikipedia, they are not here. -- Deepfriedokra ( talk) 15:01, 30 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy, which is summarized here.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. -- Deepfriedokra ( talk) 09:12, 3 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Before I change your username, I will let you know that the German Wikipedia has a different username policy than the English Wikipedia. The German Wikipedia allows and even encourages business accounts representing a business, but the English Wikipedia does not allow such accounts. However, several years ago the Wikimedia Foundation unified the accounts of all its projects so that an account created on one project will work on all of them, but all the username policies remained the same. If I change your username here, it will also change it on the German Wikipedia. If that's okay with you, please say so and I will proceed with renaming you. If you(or your organization) would prefer to continue to use this username on the German Wikipedia, please let us know and then you may just create a new individual account for your use on the English Wikipedia. 331dot ( talk) 08:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Thank you for your quick and detailed answer.:-) Yes, the German user account can also be renamed to “Markus Blanke”. Sigmacollect ( talk) 09:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Regardless of what you choose, you will need to declare as a paid editor, see WP:PAID. 331dot ( talk) 08:46, 7 May 2024 (UTC) reply

That was my bad. I forgot all about the "paid editing" thing that you're supposed to disclose anywhere, including on the user page. Once I saw that, I knew I was in the wrong and quickly undid my revision. NoobThreePointOh ( talk) 11:30, 7 May 2024 (UTC) reply
