Links

I'm glad to see people are adding material to this page. One thing that I have tried to do when linking is to make sure that the song links only like directly to the song and not to the related subject matter. For instance, I have not linked the song "Bowser's Castle" to Bowser's Castle because this article doesn't discuss the song at all. Likewise, I have not linked Mario in the song "Hop, Mario!" even though it is the same Mario. I think it's important to keep the links under the songs column pointing at actual songs, and for this reason I'm delinking Lupin the 3rd from the song "Lupin the 3rd '78" (the Lupin the 3rd article doesn't discuss this song so the link is unhelpful). If we are to link this song to any part of the Lupin the 3rd article, I would suggest we link it to Lupin the 3rd#Music, but we would need specific mention of the song under the Music subsection of the Lupin the 3rd article before we link to it from here. Thanks for all the great contributions so far, and keep 'em coming! - Thibbs ( talk) 05:02, 5 February 2009 (UTC) reply

Well, I'd prefer adding a note as well instead of just delinking the song title. In fact, I'll do that right now. -- Geopgeop ( T) 01:05, 6 February 2009 (UTC) reply
OK either way. Cheers. - Thibbs ( talk) 02:56, 6 February 2009 (UTC) reply

Impending overhaul

This message is for anyone doing edits to this article in the next week, but mostly to Thibbs who's been doing the most work. I've written and am finalizing a complete overhaul of this article that I will post soon once I'm satisfied with it, so you might not want to put too many hours into fixing what's here already. Nothing personal, have a nice day.   æron phone home  06:22, 9 October 2009 (UTC) reply

Hah, no problem. To be honest I didn't even consider that I could have taken it personally until you suggested it... - Thibbs ( talk) 19:52, 9 October 2009 (UTC) reply
So... Are there still plans for an overhaul? I haven't seen anything but the mass delinking of composers considered to be failing BLP... - Thibbs ( talk) 19:16, 23 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Yes, but I'm taking my sweet time about it. Just keep doing what you were doing I guess, I didn't mean to give anyone a "hands off" impression.   æron phone home  13:19, 24 February 2010 (UTC) reply
No problem. I'll hold off as long as I know that something is eventually coming. I just wanted to make sure the project hadn't been abandoned. - Thibbs ( talk) 15:58, 24 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Okay, cause I intend to completely overwrite the list as it stands. Too many errors, too much missing info, etc. It's going to take me a while to finish though cause work is demanding most of my time right now.   æron phone home  18:39, 24 February 2010 (UTC) reply
A lot of European 'Dancing Stage' songs are missing, it seems only Euromix is included. Shall I add the songs from the other European games? Or will they be included in the overhaul and would it be a waste of my time? BlackShift ( talk) 15:56, 24 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Yes, I know, I intend to address that. But don't let that stop you from adding content to the page.   æron phone home  18:39, 24 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Non-gameplay Songs

I suggest adding songs that are only heard in menu and credits screens as well. We can mention them as such in the notes section. Oddbrother ( talk) 07:44, 14 September 2015 (UTC) reply

List of Dance Dance Revolution songs Music of Dance Dance Revolution – The article in its current form lists current and former songs. Thus, it's difficult to know which songs are available in which game, as only the original game is listed. For example: " Doesn't Really Matter" by Janet Jackson lists SuperNOVA, but it's also in SN2 and DDR X for arcades, and unavailable in other releases. There are many other cases like this. Thus, I suggest we revamp the article to point to major song lists (4thMix Plus + 5thMix, Extreme, both SuperNOVA games, X, X2, and A + A20, while noting removals on these lists), while the article itself can serve as a summary. This article should have an emphasis on currently available songs: PARANOiA, B4U, MAX 300, Xepher, etc. LABcrabs ( talk) 02:29, 14 July 2021 (UTC) reply

HELP

Calling all members of the Rhythm game community. Majority of the edits on this article are mine. However as of late, I'm in a crossroads with other Wikipedians who are not allowing me to update this article with the complete tracklist of the DDR games. When this article was originally called "List of DDR songs", I had no issues, and I didn't notice the article was unsourced, but it didn't seem to be an issue. But I've been editing it since late 2000s, I've added majority of the songs to this list, including the beta songs. This information is well known, however there are discrepancies with reliable sources, but hopefully the list becomes complete, (and also adding Dancing Stage songs, as it's confusing, but it's still DDR but the name was changed in Europe, but other Dancing Stage songs are also currently not included) as this list is clearly incomplete, as hundreds of songs ARE NOT INCLUDED on this list) PLEASE HELP rhythm game community. ☼Phrasia☼ ( talk) 10:12, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply

As an editor of rhythm game articles, I find it fairly useless for this page to contain information on every song included in DDR. If done so this would likely become a less useful mirror of RemyWiki or DDRFreak rather than a discussion or list of those songs that are meaningfully impactful on the series or culture on a larger scale. Several Beatmania IIDX pages have this exact issue where we have a table showing all their songs and no information about what makes the particular entry relevant (like if certain songs were only available or not available in certain regions for X reason, or if it was the first entry in the series to be localized to a region). What about dancing stage songs. Someone who has nothing to do with the article undid my edit, and unfortunately I have an edit war restriction, so I can't do anything. ☼Phrasia☼ ( talk) 05:42, 16 March 2024 (UTC) reply
What would be your argument for restoring the content? The issue is that ddrfreak.com appears to be a WP:USERGENERATED source. Belbury ( talk) 11:09, 16 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Unless you can find a source from Konami or a game publisher that lists out all the songs, we can't have it on here. Or if you can find some other independently published work on it, which I doubt exists... Recon rabbit 17:24, 16 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Then in that case the article has grounds to sadly be deleted. Unless an exception can be made under the video game task force group, to where research/sources can still be verified. This article has been on Wikipedia (at least until 2010 or so) with no issues, with DDR A/relaunch more new songs were added. As there are thousands of songs (75 percent of which I personally addicted and contributed) already on this article that aren't verified, so if future edits cant be allowed okay. So everything else that could be possible balderdash (it's not though) is allowed live on the article? I don't know. As I feel the only outside sources which list DDR songs are fan/hobby sites. Konami I think maybe at one time (if Wayback machine is a verified source on Wikipedia I don't know I can't be bothered to get into semantics right now, supposing it's not) did list a archive of songs. It pains me to say this, but again I feel if no future content can be added (and this list is very incomplete, I would have added more but again I'm not allowed to etc.) then the page has to probably go, but as I feel this page is a good archive/record tool because I feel music/songs are what make DDR franchise what it is, I would like for the article to stay, but I don't know. The fact there is no page dedicated for record sake to keep track of everything is kinda annoying, but I feel this is a delicate and convoluted situation we have here. Oh dear. ☼Phrasia☼ ( talk) 08:05, 18 March 2024 (UTC) reply
