I've noticed that you've divided them into blocks of 50. As it's an ever-changing list, perhaps we should divide them into roughly 50-sized blocks such as AAA-ALL, ALM-APP, ARB-AZZ instead. Schmloof ( talk) 16:24, 27 April 2008 (UTC) reply

Henrik Lundqvist

Scope
Article lack comprehensive information about his career with Frölunda HC and the Swedish national men's ice hockey team. His NHL career is not written well.

I am working on his pre-NHL career, his national team career, an 'early life' section, and a little on the 'off the ice' section. I need help with writing a high quality section about his NHL career. There's plenty of images available, and good refrences, with some work I think this could pass GA and perhaps even FA.

Well, I have only added one season of info, but I haven't added any references yet. I'd appreciate it if you told me what needs references. And the text I add probably needs a copyedit. My plan is to write about his career with Frölunda, the national team, and an early life section. I did slight syntax cleanup, removed some unnecessary phrases in the NHL career section. I didn't find any bad writing there. Also, there seems to be a technical problem with the article's layout; the first section, his European career, is covering up two "Edit" buttons. Been a while since I worked on this article but I just started again. I expanded the International section, but there is more to come. I will write a Early life section soon and expand the Frölunda section. Problem is finding good sources. I'm hoping to get this article to GA status for starters, my biggest concern is that the NHL section is "listy" right now. I will expand the Frölunda section and the International section, but since I'm not a native speaker of english I would like someone to look over my contributions and also help with completing the NHL section. Peter Forsberg

Scope
The article lack(ed)s information about most part of his career and has to be expanded.

The article was very poor, I have been working on it. The 1989-1994 and 2004-present sections were expanded and look better and the style of play part is coming nice. I'd also like to mention he is known (I believe he is, at least) for being a good playoff performer. The problem is, I have a few doubts about the structure of the article. There's a hidden part on the article where I'm writing about his injuries. Forsberg has had so many injuries and surgeries that I thought that should have a section by themselves. The thing is, I don't want the article to be repetitive, so I'm not sure whether to mention this in the playing career part of the article. Also, there's the International play section, which I think should be on a part of his own and not be mentioned in the playing career section, which is for his club career. So, what do you think about the injury thing? I'd be happy to hear opinions and if anyone wants to lend a hand, that'd be fine too. A few more things: 1. Does anyone knows if he married or single, if he has kids, and so on? 2. Should the companies he own be mentioned on the article? Does anyone knows how did Sweden finish in the 1991 European Junior Ice Hockey Championship? 4.Does anyone knows of a reliable site to find Elitserien tables and Viking Award winners? I've found various sites on the Internet with that info, but they don't look like official sites or press. It's better than nothing, but I'd like to have the most reliable possible sources.

I have no idea where to fing Viking Award winner since I never heard of it before, but I can easily take care of SEL stuff and EJC info. I need help from a Swedish member. Please check a few facts: Did MODO retire Forsberg's number after he left for the NHL for the first time? And did they put it back in circulation when he returned there during the lockout? Any info on his father, his mother and if he is married or has kids? As I recall, there was a ceremony shown on Swedish TV where MODO temporarily un-retired the number 21 in Kempehallen. Forsberg put on the rafted jersey after it being lowered. This is also hinted on the MODO Hockey history page. Currently, the official term in Sweden seems to be holy numbers and not retired numbers. This can be seen on MODO Hockey's page on Hockeyligan.se ("Heliga nummer"). (Hockeyligan.se is the official page for the SEL run by a company where each current SEL club holds an equal share.) I dont know when or why the club rasied his jersey to the rafters before the end of his career, or if they raised it again after the lockout season. There is an official page with some functions to view the team standings for each Elitserien season since 1975-76 on stats.swehockey.se - Historical database - Standings by round. Bill Heindl, Jr.

Scope
Looking to expand article enough for a DYK, and am questioning whether or not certain info may be included / if can be verified
Proposed changes
specifically, need to see if we can add a mention of the apparent benefit game that Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky may have played together, supposedly the one and only time that they did. In short, the issue is this: numerous posts on forums have suggested that:
  • Heindl grew despondent after his career ended, marriage failed and his father died, and he attempted to kill himself, survived but became a paraplegic. I haven't had much luck in accessing legit citable sources for this.
  • he may eventually have become a competitive wheelchair athlete, as there is an award from the BC Wheelchair Tennis Ass'n that uses his name, but nothing that confirms it is named after him or why
  • he may also have competed in wheelchair racquetball, as I came across his name (without the Jr) as having placed at a tourney
  • he eventually died in 1992, and one blog at least suggests it may have been a suicide, but I can't find a proper obit
  • and this is what would make an awesome hook for a DYK: on April 25, 1980, numerous posts suggest that Bobby Orr, who was on the Oshawa Generals in 1965-66 when the Gens played in the Memorial Cup, as was Heindl, apparently arranged a benefit game for Heindl in Winnipeg, and said game is apparently the only time ever that Gretzky and Orr played in the same game. I am suspicious since I can't even find unusable photos of this, and you'd think there'd be one somewhere. There's listings on eBay for game programs that have Orr on the cover. There's apparently a transcript of a Peter Gzowski interview with someone about this in the Trent University archives. There's this post which references a book I don't have and can't access online. There's this other trivia book which you can read online but not sure how much stock to put in either of these sources. I guess I'm looking for guidance / input here for 2 reasons:
  • because suicide is a sensitive subject, I don't want to indicate that aspect without being damn sure and
  • for something that would be a huge thing in hockey circles, I'm surprised there's not more about the Gretzky/Orr angle out there. Let me know what you think, and if you have any resources that could shed some light on this. I started the article expansion yesterday, so there's still a couple of days to be eligible for a DYK nom.

I saw your posting on GoodDay's user page, and was just about to reply to you. You're in luck! I actually have a copy of Players in front of me, and the exerpt on Lowetide's blog is accurate. It supports his attempted suicide and Bobby Orr's charity game, but makes no mention of Gretzky so I can't help with that. The Winnipeg Free Press archives have stories on Heindl and Orr's charity match, and I'm betting one on his death as well. Only catch is they want $10 for a one-week access. I'll let you decide if you want to pay that. (I did find this as well: [1] ) You've got me curious though. I know the Calgary Public Library has the Winnipeg Free Press in its microfilm archives, but I am not certain of the date range as they haven't kept copies of any WFP papers after 1996. I am pretty sure they have the 1992 archives, but I'm not sure about 1980. So if you don't want to shell out for the online archive, let me know and I might be able to get to the right branch of my library on the weekend. In the meantime, I will add the material from Players for you tonight. Awesome. I don't have time this week to get to the Toronto Reference Library, which no doubt would have similar in its archives. I similarly found that PDF on the SCRC website, but wasn't sure how usable it was, as it's both a copy of an original post, and the original was itself on a blog, albeit the blog of a News website. Whatever you - and others - can contribute to this is great, like I said I would love to see it make it to a DYK if possible. I wish there was more to find about what happened to Heindl between his injury and death, as it sounds like he may have found new purpose in life, and there's something inspirational and bittersweet about that. Yeah, I think that's fine to remove. I don't see any sources anywhere suggesting his marriage to McCarthy ended. If someone insists on adding it back I would say to then give it a Citation Needed tag and discuss on talk page, but for now being Bold is the way to go. Leo Komarov

Update: This has been rendered moot by further developments and changes to the article. Looking for uninterested opinions of others to prevent an edit war. Leo Komarov started the 2021-22 season with the Islanders and played exactly one game. My most recent edit left the article reading:

After starting the 2021-22 NHL season with the team and seeing game action, [1] Komarov was assigned to the Islanders' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders, when he cleared waivers. [2]

This edit was reverted by Sabbatino to read:

Sabbatino's explanation for reverting my edit was that I "missed the whole point..." I am still missing the point. Why is my version which states Komarov saw game action early in the 2021-22 season and references an official game summary as evidence of that inferior to stating that he played one NHL game and leaving that statement lacking a reference?

My edit summary was pretty clear at Special:Diff/1051815312. You cannot simply put a game summary and say that he played one game before getting sent to the AHL. AHL Final Standings

I just finished going through each AHL season fixing some of the major inconsistencies in style as well as all of the incorrect NHL affiliations. What I am left with though is a large undertaking facing the shift in formatting that we seemingly made the past decade or two... Starting in 2003, we have been colour coding our tables based on who made the playoffs (blue and green). However, in 2009, we also started colour coding teams that didn't make the playoffs (red). Requesting help to complete the tri-colour colour coding all the way from 1936 to present (or opinions on a better solution/removing the colour coding entirely).– uncleben85 ( talk) 20:08, 26 July 2023 (UTC) reply

So it seems like the PWHL is set on having no monikers or nicknames this season, instead identifying each team by their chosen city/location identifier. I propose that we switch the article names to the format of "PWHL _____" to match both the League's current marketing ( https://www.thepwhl.com/ for example, under Teams) and each team's individual marketing ( https://www.instagram.com/pwhl_newyork, for example). So the proposal is effectively moving the placeholder "Toronto PWHL team" to the apparent (if yet temporary) "PWHL Toronto", for each team.

Over this article's short life, several users have questioned whether "Michigan goal" should be the primary title. The name is US-biased. WP:COMMONNAME says that Wikipedia "generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources)". English-language sources in the US tend to favor "Michigan goal", whereas in Canada, "lacrosse goal" is more common (albeit ambiguous with the sport of lacrosse); in Europe, "Zorro goal" is more common. The term "high wrap" was used by the first person to score a goal in this way, although outside of historical articles, it is rarely used in contemporary writing. I'd appreciate if any project authors could join the current discussion about the article's name to help form consensus about an article title. Thanks!
