This team is basically part of the history of Venados F.C. franchise. It states it was founded in 1988, same year as the Venados de Yucatán. Everything in the "History" section of this article comes from Venados history. If you read the Spanish language article of Venados, it goes more into depth. In fact, in the Spanish wiki, "Atlético Yucatán" redirects to the Venados F.C. article. Maybe we could add a section in the Venados article specifically for this era of the franchise. • Comment The Spanish-language article is very helpful, considering Mexican football franchises come and go with astounding frequency. The original franchise moved in 1988 from Apatzingán and disappeared around 2001. Atlético Yucatán only played for one season in 2002 after moving from Chiapas to fill the void, and then they apparently moved back to Chiapas the season after, when Mérida F.C. was created. Mérida F.C. came full circle and changed their name back to Venados in 2015. Basically it appears as if Venados has adopted the history for this specific defunct club, which appears to have adopted the history of the club that came before it. (Venados 1988-1999, Atlético Yucatán 2001 or 2002, Mérida FC-Venados II 2003-current.) So the option is really whether to merge all articles to Venados as the Spanish Wikipedia has done or leave this as a standalone. In any case, we're at AfD, but this should NOT be deleted. • Comment I suggest we merge as the Spanish Wikipedia has done. Giant Snowman 08:12, 19 April 2020 (UTC) reply
