Citation formatting

Hi Tellisavas, welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed while reading the Reman Malay article you wrote, that there are a few references which have only the url. While a useful first step, it helps others to have more information added to each reference, such as the document/site name, its author, and the dates it was published and accessed. This can be done manually in any format, however there are Wikipedia:Citation templates which may help. Please note this is not a criticism of your work, but a little bit of advice to help familiarise yourself with en.wiki. Best, CMD ( talk) 21:55, 27 January 2022 (UTC) reply

A tag has been placed on Magunatip (dance) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.mysabah.com/wordpress/murut-bamboo-dance-magunatip/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. What vandalizing articles? you are the ones vandalizing articles on Joget and Mek Mulung. Don't disturb Malaysian posts Indonesian. Tellisavas ( talk) 17:32, 11 December 2022 (UTC) reply
Since when it is 'Malaysian'? Given sources clearly stated that both Mek Mulung and Joget are definitely not 'Malaysian'. Stop hijacking another countries' cultures and claimed it as 'Malaysian', both Indonesia and Thailand are older than Malaysia itself per see. ( Hisowow ( talk) 17:34, 11 December 2022 (UTC)) reply
There is no definite proof that Indonesia and Thailand is older than Malaysia on a historical context. Stop manipulating history and Malaysian articles! Tellisavas ( talk) 17:45, 11 December 2022 (UTC) reply

"Given sources clearly stated that both Mek Mulung and Joget are definitely not 'Malaysian'" says who? Even neutral observers said that your sources doesn't relate to Mek Mulung and Joget at all, Nora has nothing to with Mek Mulung, Nora is related to Manora dance but never Mek Mulung, there is no historical articles to prove otherwise. And Joget is not a Javanese dance! plus there's already a specific page for that and that is JOGED! You know nothing about Malaysian culture and now you trying to act big here by vandalizing Malaysian articles? Big Mistake. Tellisavas ( talk) 17:50, 11 December 2022 (UTC) reply

Addition of Jawi

Regarding Butterworth, it was last edited by a blocked IP address displaying persistent disruptive behaviour and refusal to engage in discussions as to his edits. Said address has not taken constructive effort to build consensus that Jawi is official in Penang. hundenvonPG ( talk) 14:04, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply

From my understanding, the status of Jawi has been enshrined as the traditional script of the Malay language regardless of where it is spoken in Malaysia. So I don't see any reason of you removing it while keeping other writings? Tellisavas ( talk) 14:05, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
The issue should be, in Penang, is Malay used in Latin or Jawi script? Take note that Jawi is not uniformly used in official or legal settings. Some states mandated it, others don't. I suggest you refer to a previous discussion. While adding scripts may be permitted, it should be on a case by case basis. As of now, I have yet to see consensus that Jawi is of relevance in Penang. hundenvonPG ( talk) 14:10, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
I would like to add that adding scripts wholesale and ignoring discussions, as done by said IP address, is not consensus. hundenvonPG ( talk) 14:17, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
As a usual contributor to Wikipedia especially when it comes to placenames or cultural part of Malaysia. I see that putting Jawi is part of the diverse fabric of Malaysian society especially since Jawi is technically the oldest surviving writing in Malaysia. If you look at a historical context, the first Malay language newspaper was printed in Penang using the Jawi script.
The best way to look at this is to look at articles of Singaporean towns and places, they put Malay (including Jawi) alongside Chinese and Tamil and it doesn't seem to bother any Singaporean contributors even though Jawi has no status in Singapore but its usage is tolerated at least in Wikipedia article because they know Jawi is a historical writing system for the Malay language. In Malaysia it should never be controversial. Tellisavas ( talk) 14:34, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
My friend, when was the last time Penang uses Chinese and Tamil in official government settings? Does Chinese and Tamil have any mention in the state constitution? I'm just asking because I'm curious. Tellisavas ( talk) 14:23, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
My friend, are you ignoring the fact that Chinese and Tamil are widely used? Not just in Penang, but major urban areas like KL? I'm curious if you have been to those places. Are you implying that Penang does not use Malay? Why are there Malay names on Penang articles then? Are you saying that Latin script is not official?
The issue here is relevance. Your line of questioning doesn't prove that Jawi is officially or significantly used as the main Malay script in Penang. hundenvonPG ( talk) 14:30, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Have you ever visit mosques and Malay cultural sites in Penang, there's tons of Jawi script there. It shows that Jawi still plays a huge part of the state's 50% Malay population especially on religious and cultural matters. Jawi's usage within the Malay language is not diminished and far from being extinct. And from what I see, even rural Malay village articles have Chinese and Tamil transcription despite having no or very few Chinese and Tamils there so I see no problem of putting Jawi in Chinese and Indian-majority villages and towns.
