Ti informo come ho informato altri contributori usuali su it.wiki. Tu sei molto attivo sia nelle voci lombarde che quelle di motori, e sei amministratore, quindi hai un sufficiente impatto medio e una buona trasversalità.-- Alexmar983 ( talk) 17:39, 27 November 2014 (UTC) reply

Hello LukeWiller,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username CAPTAIN MEDUSA and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Church of Beata Vergine Assunta for deletion, because it is unnecessary and disambiguates only a single page.

Battle of Legnano

Hello
Seeing your extensive contribution to the thread i am more thinking on a restructure and condensing of this aticle. in my opinion it is too broad and too much fringe than the actual topic (the battle) itself. so im thinking of creating a draft and than showing it to you first and if you agree, not agree or even edit additional info. to it, in the next days. in my opinion this specific article should focus only on events in 1176, the battle and the resulting aftermatch, everything else should have its own thread or be in the respective existing threads in order to avoid doublings and repetition over several threads. also i would base the article more on primary sources rather then secondary sources (and no conjecture). i will let you know when it is finished, take a look and decide if its acceptable.
PS.: is there really need for a map with location in the infobox? in light of the info. on location as well as coordinates, it is also not customary in the other related articles.
Greetings

im afraid i disagree with that assessment, the article includes entire passages that do not deal with the topic and are better off in other, still non-existing, articles like 'carcano' 'milan(1162)' and 'alessandria' and if these are not enough then there are further articles such as 'lombard league' 'guelphs and ghibellines' or 'frederick I' -also as an example informations such as the castle of legnano(while interesting and well researched) are utterly useles for this article and better off in the article on 'legnano', dont you think? this article should begin with the failed peace treaty and the renewel in january 1176 of the lombard league, this article also misses out on important information (for exmaple) such as the emperors war (christian of mainz) against the normans (carsoli march 1176) and why these were present in venice 1177 and the lombards not yet obtained a seperate peace in 1183, all that for the aftermath section. this article needs a good look through and a restruction. your contribs. are safed eitherway, so edit them to the coresponding articles if you like or not.
greetings
PS.: a map is therefor then not necessary as the function 'Location' wil suffice in revealing the location along with the given coordinates, also i agree that medieval battles are largely conjecture in seconday literature and that is why this should not be a collection of conjectures from said lit. but an informative article based on the known facts -no matter how brief it might be. also the enire premise of the article is wrong that this was a conflict between the 'north italian municipalities' and the emperor in light of cremona and pavia, also the neglect of northern italy is utterly false in light of three imperial diets and five campaigns.

ofcourse there wont be an edit war, but do consider posting some of the info into the more appropriate threads. again this is more about condensing the article with a clearer and better comprhendable structure smth. like:

Prelude -lombard league and the emperor's fifth campaign -montebello and the renewel of armed conflict

The Battle

Aftermath

Significance
it is not really about changing the article or replacing the content, though the aftermatch section needs more information.
greetings

No problem, except...

No problem, indeed, except that I've always managed to screw up any template that comes within a mile. I've sort-of half-done the Brinkmann ref (or at least a Brinkmann ref), but managed to balls it up, so there's bits of template all over the place. I was wondering if you could sort it out for me (it's in the sources section now...). You seem like someone who would do that very efficiently... best Haploidavey ( talk) 21:02, 26 November 2021 (UTC) reply

Theatre of Italy moved to draftspace

Hello. I'm afraid an article you recently created, Theatre of Italy, is not suitable as written to remain published. It uses a strong essay tone in several parts, most statements and claims are not sourced, and a significant percentage of the existing sources are unreliable (personal websites and term papers) or don't support what the article states.

It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ► LowLevel73 (talk) 11:47, 10 September 2022 (UTC) reply

John Florio

Hello Luke Willer, I clicked unintentionally the reverse bottom to revert John Florio's picture, before writing a comment. I am going to write here, why I think the image of Florio is more important in the page 'Culture of Italy'. John Florio was of Italian origin (unlike Shakespeare) and Florio was the main ambassador of Italian culture in the Elizabethan era and in the following century (through his dictionary), the main influencer of Italophilia in the XVII and also he is one of the major lexicographer of English language. I read you are Italian and I also invite you to read the following page, where it explains Florio's influence on Shakespeare. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza_di_Giovanni_Florio_sulle_opere_shakespeariane — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.66.217.217 ( talk) 13:21, 16 September 2022 (UTC) reply

Sorry, but I wrote you in talk and then you reverted it as a vandalism. So I guess, you wanted just to impose your opinion. We can add both images to the pages. As I wrote, John Florio is the main contributor to the development of Italophilia in the English world in the XVII century and on.
"John Florio is one of the most prominent linguists and educators in Elizabethan England, Florio was greatly responsible for the spreading of Italian letters and culture throughout educated English society. Especially important was Florio’s dictionary, which – thanks to its exuberant wealth of English definitions – made it initially possible for English readers to access Italy’s rich Renaissance literary and scientific culture" (Award-winning author Hermann W. Citing journal articles

Hi, when citing journal articles, like those which you added to Roman republic, please do not just provide a {{ cite web}} citation. More bibliographic information adds substantially to the credibility and verifiability of the locations cited. I think NebY's expansion of one of your citations here would be a good thing to do. Ifly6 ( talk) 19:08, 16 August 2023 (UTC) reply

In case you don't know already, Wikipedia's editor can do most of it automatically. Once I'd found that journal webpage https://riviste.unimi.it/index.php/noema/article/view/9955, I could paste that URL into the Automatic tab of citation builder in Wikipedia's editor - all I had to add was the publisher. It would be quicker and easier for you, because you knew where you'd found the article and that you'd cited an authentic, scholarly peer-reviewed publication, compliant with WP:RS and WP:SCHOLARSHIP; I had to discover that. Hope this helps. NebY ( talk) 20:02, 16 August 2023 (UTC) reply
Please also read the citations that are generated. Some of the citations you've added to Roman republic are in all caps instead of sentence or title case and also lack important language metadata. Also, the existing style uses {{ harvc}} for parts of an existing work; per WP:CITEVAR additions should be consistent with the existing style. The added citation to the OCD4 article on Brennus, for example, should have been added inside the OCD4 section and should have noted its print publication date rather than its posting online. WP:CITE's Date a book that is identically reprinted or printed-on-demand to the first date in which the edition became available applies here because it is the online-"printing" of an existing book published in 2012. Ifly6 ( talk) 22:59, 16 August 2023 (UTC) reply
I also want to explain why I reverted a certain edit you made linking some random website. Wikipedia prioritises citations to reliable sources. I consider this, foremost, to be WP:SCHOLARSHIP; I also think unreliable sources should be removed in part because their addition actively misleads readers (both by leading them to the wrong sources and also by giving a misleading impression of rigour). Some of the sources you've added are also rather old. WP:AGEMATTERS in these cases: one of the cases for example talks about one of the Crassi who is alleged to have been a member of the democratic party. Such reductive readings of Roman politics, rendering them into democratic and aristocratic parties, are discredited. See Optimates and populares. Ifly6 ( talk) 23:03, 16 August 2023 (UTC) reply

In the list I have added many unknown foods, I don't know whether these should only be included in the regions. My question is: should all regional foods from the various regions also be added to the main lists (e.g. "tortino di riso alla valdostana")? If you want, you can check all the main lists down to the regions, because I have certainly added some really unknown foods that perhaps shouldn't be included in the main lists as well, because otherwise the regional lists don't make sense (of course I'm always referring to the List of Italian dishes page). Question

Hello colleague. I would like to ask you if you could recommend a user who could translate one fragment from archaic Italian into English? With respect. Smpad ( talk) 13:55, 19 January 2024 (UTC) reply

So, I wrote the article about an influential Levantine merchant Khwaja Bedik.
There is an interesting primary source that writes about him, an Italian traveler Pietro Della Valle, in this book (edition) — Viaggi Di Pietro Della Valle, Il Pellegrino. He writes his name as Chogia Abedik. Information is scattered through pages 848—852.
I asked a colleague from the Russian wiki to translate what was written about him (Chogia Abedik), but he is an amateur learner of Italian. This is approximately what I received:

"Chogia Abedik is very important and respected among them [Armenian Christian gentlemen from Julfa]; this not only means that he is a good Christian and a good friend, as always was with the people of the Franks; but that that he is so religious and pious that it [represents] a mirror of religiosity and Eastern Christianity. This lies in the fact that no matter how many sons a person has, he still spends all his [wealth] on the construction of churches and decorations of [their] walls, silver crosses, cups and other necessary things. And in this new Isfahan Julfa, where they were forced to move after the king destroyed the ancient Armenian Julfa, which was located on the border with Turkey on the Araks River, out of ten churches, one was completely built and maintained by Chogia Abedik with his own money, and in another [church] he contributed most of the funds, although [its construction] is attributed to the names of other [people]. And [still] he helped and helps to create countless works of art in the surrounding villas every day. But I do not want to be silent about another manifestation of his kindness. In the wars that took place in Armenia and Georgia, when [the lives] of many thousands of Christians were turned upside down, and they became slaves, out of the love of God, at his own expense, he redeemed [from slavery] and freed more than four thousand people, diligently looking for them even in distant lands, [he returned] sons to fathers, wives to husbands, and relatives to relatives so that they would not be lost. And in order to do this, not having enough cash and not being able to quickly sell the silks he had, he borrowed them from the Shirvan Khan, who was also the son of a Christian Armenian, giving him as a pledge the silk and what he had owned. This is real mercy, I don't know if more can be done."

I would like to ask you to correct/rewrite the text, since Italian is your native language.
I will be very grateful to you. With respect. Smpad ( talk) 14:21, 19 January 2024 (UTC) reply

Have a look at this page

You reverted the IP of the usual permanently blocked spanish sockmaster at ancient Rome, but now he is distrupting the page battle of Lepanto (Flenaot, Floutomb, Tranblit are some of his socks active there) to hide that most ships were from Italian states and put Spain first in the intro and the infobox (this he did a lot of time ago with another sock). In my opinion, given the number of ships involved, Venice should be first in the infobox and we should restore the part of the intro he removed in which the ships and captains are listed. Note that in the previous years he also tried to the switch the number of ships from Spain and Venice. Now he doesnt do that anymore, 'cause it was literally invented out of nowhere, so he came up with the story that Philip II financed the league the most and so he was the leader of it. Which I suspect to be non-sense and should be removed. In any case most ships were Venetian and the political leader of the Holy League was the Pope, so why should Spain be first? no one knows. John of Austria (who he has also tried in the past and on his page to make a Spaniard...except he was German, altough it's true he was the half-brother of Philip II) should be first among the listed commanders, but the countries in the infobox should be listed accordingly to the number of ships. I think. 2A01:E11:17:40B0:6C11:25E0:1350:5186 ( talk) 15:57, 23 March 2024 (UTC) reply

Quality or not?

Hi, in your opinion are the articles on Giuseppe Garibaldi and Giuseppe Mazzini of quality? The Italian-language Wikipedia page on Garibaldi has 435 references, including notes ( https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuseppe_Garibaldi); I don't understand why there's such an exaggerated difference. JacktheBrown ( talk) 18:19, 5 April 2024 (UTC) reply

I have just added the "Refimprove" template ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/?title=Giuseppe_Garibaldi&diff=prev&oldid=1217428377). However, my question was intended as follows: why is the article in Italian so long, while the one in English is "only" 90,910 bytes long? It cannot be a question of language, because Garibaldi is very well known worldwide. JacktheBrown ( talk) 19:40, 5 April 2024 (UTC) reply
Is it possible to expand the article? Or is it OK according to the policies of en.wiki? Some time ago I was told that even if a particular article is longer in it.wiki it's not necessarily better, because the references in the English language Wikipedia are better (and this is true, it's full of gossip references in Italian language articles. I'm not referring to Garibaldi). Also, to quote an article, the article on Italy is better in the English-language Wikipedia, as is the article on the Roman Empire. So if I wanted to expand the article I couldn't because it's already good enough, or could I expand it? JacktheBrown ( talk) 20:33, 5 April 2024 (UTC) reply
In your opinion, does the page on Giuseppe Mazzini also need new references? JacktheBrown ( talk) 11:29, 6 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Italian language in Croatia, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. ( Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) ( talk) 13:29, 6 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Bajamonti "last Italian mayor"

Looks like you had added this text that I just removed, please see https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Antonio_Bajamonti&diff=prev&oldid=1217779071 -- Joy ( talk) 20:55, 7 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Hi, could you add a better image to this page? Maybe insert an Italian panino, like this one? File:Italian Sandwich.jpeg. JacktheBrown ( talk) 00:01, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Images deleted from the page

Hi, an user has deleted some images from the list of Italian foods and drinks page ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/?title=List_of_Italian_foods_and_drinks&diff=prev&oldid=1219614276); since you're the biggest contributor as far as adding pictures is concerned, in a positive sense of course, if you want to check whether this user has deleted beautiful pictures, that would be a good thing; it would be nice to keep the most beautiful pictures in terms of quality (example: "pecorino romano", a very good image, unfortunately deleted). JacktheBrown ( talk) 22:02, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply

I deleted two images and restored two, otherwise the user (with all due respect to him) could certainly delet my changes; I don't trust. JacktheBrown ( talk) 23:02, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply
