Since the last newsletter, the VisualEditor team has mostly worked on performance improvements, image settings, and preparation for a simplified citation template tool in its own menu.
Looking ahead: A new, locally controlled menu of citation templates will put citations immediately in front of users. You will soon be able to see the Table of Contents while editing. Support for upright image sizes (preferred for accessibility) is being developed. In-line language setting (dir="rtl"
) will be offered as a Beta Feature soon. Looking further out, the developers are also working on support for viewing and editing hidden HTML comments. It will be possible to upload images to Commons from inside VisualEditor.
If you have questions or suggestions for future improvements, or if you encounter problems, please let everyone know by posting a note at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback or by joining the office hours on Monday, 19 May 2014 at 18:00 UTC. If you'd like to get this on your own page, subscribe at Wikipedia:VisualEditor#Newsletter for English Wikipedia only or at meta:VisualEditor/Newsletter for any project. Thank you! Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Adam Cuerden ( submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Godot13 ( submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's ChrisGualtieri ( submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Cliftonian ( submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Caponer ( submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Reid, iain james ( submissions), tiger from Cwmhiraeth ( submissions) and The Lion King from Igordebraga ( submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Czar ( submissions) and Red Phoenix ( submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.
192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! In February you added an "underlinked" tag to the above mentioned page. I agree with you, but have no idea how to address the problem. Have you any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Pdfpdf ( talk) 12:36, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jallah Arain, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zong ( check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello Faizan! I think Warid should not have been moved to Warid Pakistan. The article clearly stated about being a mobile operator in Pakistan and for other uses see Warid Telecom. The company's name is not Warid Pakistan. It's the first project in Pakistan and is mostly referred to as Warid extensively in official social sites as well. In Congo, Warid is officially recognised as Warid Congo while in some other countries Warid was merged with Airtel. Please undo the move. SAMI talk 15:17, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Did you know?
Since the last newsletter, the VisualEditor team has mostly worked on the new citation tool, improving performance, reducing technical debt, and other infrastructure needs.
The biggest change in the last few weeks is the new citation template menu, labeled "⧼visualeditor-toolbar-cite-label⧽". The new citation menu offers a locally configurable list of citation templates on the main toolbar. It adds or opens references using the simplified template dialog that was deployed last month. This tool is in addition to the "⧼visualeditor-dialogbutton-reference-tooltip⧽" item in the "Insert" menu, and it is not displayed unless it has been configured for that wiki. To enable this tool on your wiki, see the instructions at VisualEditor/Citation tool.
Eventually, the VisualEditor team plans to add autofill features for these citations. When this long-awaited feature is created, you could add an ISBN, URL, DOI or other identifier to the citation tool, and VisualEditor would automatically fill in as much information for that source as possible. The concept drawings can be seen at mw:VisualEditor/Design/Reference Dialog, and your ideas about making referencing quick and easy are still wanted.
<span lang="en" dir="ltr">English</span>
. This tool is most useful for pages whose text combines multiple languages with different directions, common on Right-to-Left wikis.Looking ahead: The toolbar from the PageTriage extension will no longer be visible inside VisualEditor. More buttons and icons will be accessible from the keyboard. The "Keyboard shortcuts" link will be moved out of the "Page options" menu, into the "Help" menu. Support for upright image sizes (preferred for accessibility) and inline images is being developed. You will be able to see the Table of Contents while editing. Looking further out, the developers are also working on support for viewing and editing hidden HTML comments. VisualEditor will be available to all users on mobile devices and tablet computers. It will be possible to upload images to Commons from inside VisualEditor.

Hello, I need some help editing the page for the actor 'Ajay Devgan'. I'm trying to change the title to 'Ajay Devgn' which is now the official spelling of his name. There is a page for this spelling already, but that redirects to this page. Please let me know if you can help me out with this. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mnayak001 ( talk • contribs) 06:33, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Peace upon he who who follows truth
Good day brother i trust you are well, brother i am here to talk to you about what you said about the battle of Karbala i am here to ask you to please refrain from editing it, i come asking with all respect as taught by islam, brother when it even says in Imam Hussein's wiki page that he's denomination is Shia Islam why do you go to a reference that is Sunni not Shiite and even if you did why would the reference be Al Tabari, his book is not even one of the Sunni sahih 6, i know brother you are most likely a Sunni muslim but please receive correct information when it comes to religion, the shiite sahih 4 are more authentic than Al Tabari's book.
Thank you brother for listening peace upon you the holy prophet and his family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Islamthetruth123 ( talk • contribs) 14:16, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Operation Zarb-e-Azb may have broken the syntax by modifying 4 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
