Your version of the "controversy" section is fine with me. I was just making some small changes in the wording of what was there before, but I think that your rewrite is an improvement. The point that he never left Istanbul is not very significant, because I think that his report was known to be an amalgamation of reports from many people who worked under him. Sorry to bother you at home, as it were, but while I was asking another how-to-merge question at the help desk, someone posted and made the page too big, so I was told I'd have to merge my post with something else. Ha. Ha. I don't know how to merge! That was my question! I managed to get "Heath toffee" redirected and renamed "Heath bar", but "Heath (candy bar)" refuses to join "Heath bar" by moving, so obviously I've missed a crucial part of the move/merge operation. And then... Help! Before I do anything stupid. -- Mothperson 22:42, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I was considering how much easier it would be if I just cut and pasted, but I was nervous newbie, and thought if I were caught I'd have to go to Wikijail, which I know they have somewhere around here. Thank you very very much. And thank you, too, for any and all link clean-up at LOFNAP. -- Mothperson 23:39, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I am completely cross-eyed from googling, but the new Heath bar page is up, and since you made it possible (no good deed goes unpunished!), I am wondering if you'd take a look at it, and spot any egregious errors. I don't understand why my Ben & Jerry's is red, because the exact same thing is blue on LOFNAP. I think perhaps I need to read up more on linking. Thanks. -- Mothperson 20:39, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thank you again, I really couldn't see that stuff. But I'm still wondering why my Ben & Jerry's isn't blue. But great - it's blue here! That's a big help. Not. The mysteries of Wiki. Also, when I deleted the note about the article being a stub, it disappeared from the list of stubs, but it hasn't reappeared anywhere else as far as I can tell. Have I consigned it to limbo, where only people who know it exists can access it? -- Mothperson 00:20, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
That is interesting. I wrote the article on a word processing program (because I'm always losing stuff when I write here) and copied and pasted it. So the apostrophe probably did mess it up. So much to learn. I'm glad you're around to pester. Thank you, yet again, for revealing more of the Wiki Mysteries. -- Mothperson 17:41, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Aloha. I noticed that you recently moved James Oberg to Jim Oberg. While I'm sure you meant well, I don't believe this move is correct. According to the relevant Wikipedia:Naming conventions, we should use the most common name of a person or thing that does not conflict with the names of other people or things. According to a Google test, the most common name is "James Oberg" (31,800 hits), while "Jim Oberg" only gets 580 hits. See also: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). I will attempt to move the page back. -- Viriditas | Talk 23:49, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Goodbye Shimray. I'm just not cut out for Wikipedia. I have a deep distrust of men because of their love of power and their brutality. Each entry I added on here was met with suspicion and cold heartedness. I just can't handle that much, I know of no other way of saying this, hostility. Genuine curosity, at least mine, had no place on Wikipedia. People prefer to be comfortable with what they have thought and concluded. I do not make others, unlike myself, comfortable. I have been deeply wounded, but I'm used to it. So long. I'll be happier without Wikipedia. This is why ancient libraries and books are burned. intolerance and the love of power. I MUST BE RIGHT! My picture of reality CANNOT be DISTORTED! Wanna bet....I know mine is. User:Kazuba 25 Jun 05
These coins were introduced in 1987 with face values of £100, £50, £25, and £10.
They would have almost certainly been authorised by royal proclamation and I can say with 100% certainty that they are legal tender at their respective face values to any amount. That being said, I certainly would not exchange them at their face values! Whitaker's Almanac would be able to confirm most of this and probably provide a more authorative reference.

I'm not quite sure either, except to say that the said content on the Geology of the Moon page is a duplicate of what appears on the Tektite page, so there's a lot of reduncancy that should probably be primarily located on the Tektite page. I'm certainly not a geology expert, but I'd have to say that the results are interesting but probably preliminary. The surface of the Earth and the Moon are similar enough in composition that parallel processes could be at work. So I guess, like you, I'm a little skeptical about the motivation. Thanks. :) — RJH 21:24, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
Why are you systematically removing all ASINs? Please stop. ASIN numbers are generally only used when a book is too old to have an ISBN number. ASIN numbers are perfectly valid for use in this case. Kaldari 00:11, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for the welcome to wikipedia. I was looking through the links you added to my talk page. I had a question on one of the pages linked to through one of them. In the Edit Summary Legend page the section on capitalization says:
caps is for those instances when every letter of a word is capitalized, when the word is to be made ALL CAPS. lc and lcase mean lowercasing the first letter of some word, and uc and ucase mean uppercasing the first letter of some word."
The examples it gives though, look like:
The formatting of the lines seems odd with one being italicized and the other not, but mainly what I was wondering about was the lcase being used for the all caps. That seems to contradict the definition above it. Am I missing something or which one is right? Thanks for the help.

I notice you've been adding a lot of NASA photographs to early spaceflight pages. I just wondered if you were aware of the NASA Image Exchange at nix.larc.nasa.gov? Thanks for taking action on the Sugar Momma article. I originally put up the cleanup-nonsensical tag because I thought the content was completely worthless but at the same time, thought that it might be interesting to have an article that talked about the origins of the phrase. I was actually going to just put up a vote for deletion tag in a few weeks since nothing was being done. I'm not sure if redirecting a tag to Age disparity in sexual relationships is best thing to do though, but I want to talk to you first before doing anything since it's technically appropriate to redirect a pseudonym. -- Solarusdude 19:21, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

Hi, Re: your comment on Talk:Keira Knightley, "That would seem to allow as fair use thumbnails of magazine covers, aesthetic artwork, web pages, charts and graphs, still shots from movies and text of any kind (since it would be unreadable) Note the comment of "since it would be unreadable". ". I think it was only referring to the text when talking about being unreadable. I think the point is we don't want to have images the copyright owner may want to license or sell in the future, so by displaying them Wikipedia may be damaging the market. I was wondering if some way to protect Wikipedia from this argument is to automatically deface fair use images when uploaded which would prevent them being saved for aesthetic purposes (i.e. as a screensaver), while still being able to make out their content for informational purposes. My view on skimming it was that it was probably a copyvio, especially as it was uploaded, more or less fully formed, anonymously. However, the only web accessible matches were downstream, with at least one copyright violation of Wikipedia (no attribution, no backlink, no GFDL). Of course, it is quite normal for such papers to be on pay sites, with only an abstract online, for free viewing.

Thanks for finding and fixing my errant paste-over error of Marine Aircraft Group 36. It was an inadvertent error during editing. — ERcheck @ 18:35, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
In regard to your recent edits on 335th Fighter Squadron, I'd like to thank you. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your hard work and your initiative to improve this article and your support of my notion that this article was not a copyright violation. Thanks again and keep up the good work. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 04:32, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the touchup on ABLE ARCHER 83. Much appreciated Natebjones
Thanks for your vote. You said... PS: Is anyone else surprised at the lack of oppose votes?. Somewhat! Lets hope this isn't WP:BEANS as per Jkelly #20... William M. Connolley 00:11, 9 January 2006 (UTC).
Hi Shimgray,
You left a note on Talk:Passport that you have an article from 1861 on passports. I would love to read this. Can you send a copy? My e-mail is Seabhcan (at) gmail.com
Thanks,

Thanks for fixing the image and comment for me! Marc29th 22:19, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that you have not yet commented on the mailing list or Meta page about whether you want to come to the next meeting, and if so when you would be able to make it. There is a signup sheet at m:Wikimedia UK#Next meeting which it would be great if you could add your signature to sooner rather than later so we can get things moving. Please refer to Wikipedia definition of vandalism. An explained deletion of irrelevant material (i.e. added with a POV under an inappropiate heading, as for Charles Kennedy entry) is not vandalism 86.30.28.203 23:02, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
This is just a reminder that the Birmingham meetup of UK Wikipedians that you have expressed an interst in is happening tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice. Thryduulf 15:24, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Shimgray, thank God. I was getting worried about those comments. But I still stand firm that people shouldn't be blocked on thier beliefs. I think a witch hunt on users with beliefs might start soon. I think it already started with the blocks of Carbonite, El_C, and Giano. Although they were unblocked Carbonite has left Wikipedia and now Carnildo was blocked. What's with all the wheel warring? What a tradegy to befall on Wikipedia again. What was wrong with the Lordjazz link? I'm just curious--you didn't seem to give a reason for the reversion. Nareek 21:37, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Ah, it was an anti-spam thing. I could imagine finding a great site that had a bunch of info characterized by person, and deciding to link a bunch of pages to the corresponding Wikipedia articles, but maybe this went too far. Anyway, I was mainly curious because that was I believe the first "real" edit after about 20 vandalism attacks over several days. Nareek 22:12, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Oops, I should have noticed that text got slipped back in again. Thanks for zapping it. aa v ^ 22:21, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the cool, calm and collected statements you have made about this silliness, especially at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-02-06 Pschemp. Pschemp | Talk 05:27, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Can you help me out here? I thought I'd found that his dad had also received the Distinguished Flying Cross (US) but I can't see the name at Distinguished Flying Cross Society - Roll of Honour can you figure out what I'm missing? Dlyons493 Talk
I voted for deletion because this is a biography of a relentlessly self-promoting vanity press author with an apparent penchant for ripping-off Tolkein.
For another clear-cut case of something that needs to be deleted, I urge you to take a look at the Dirty Sanchez. This is such a clear case of something needing to be deleted, I thought bringing it to AfD would be a mere formality, but there are apparently some who haven't read the rules for deletion and think that a dicdef that has been transwikied needs to stay. What exactly is the quote you left me in Village pump policy and what relevance does it have? Myrtone (the strict Australian wikipedian) (talk)

Hey Andrew, I was just reading your article on Charles Ewart--nice work. Just wondering, when you were researching it, did you find anymore information on him? Specifically, did you happen to come across his parents names? Cheers. Sarah Ewart ( Talk) 10:47, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
I speedied it. pfctdayelise ( translate?) 00:55, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
I have this article on my watchlist already, however, when it comes to looking at it, I see that the vandalism has already been reverted. However, it will remain on my list and I will make sure that all vandalism is reverted. - Erebus555 16:31, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
I'm starting to take some time to learn what I can about wikipedia so that I can contribute most effectively. I saw your entry to the IMVU:Talk regarding some revisions that you had to make. I'm confused about some aspects, such as why I can't seem to see an entry for your edit in the history. Thanks for helping me understand this better.
I think what happened was that the vandal had made a total of 4 edits to the article, but not all of them showed in a single 'recent changes' entry (as sometimes happens - it will say e.g. 2 edits by ipnumber and let you compare the most recent edit to the last version by someone ELSE) - so when I used popups to revert it simply reverted from the vandal's most recent edit to one of the three previous ones - had recent changes displayed (4 edits by...) as the diff option then the revert clash would not have been a problem (both I, and the other person who reverted, would have reverted to the same version) Cynical 13:57, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Why didn't you go for a rename on the original article rather than create a stub of an article AND the FV 432? GraemeLeggett 08:34, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed that aforesaid user has reverted one of your reverts of his previous edits. I'm not entirely sure what is going on, please could you clarify. Thanks -- GW_Simulations 20:18, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
