Reliable English-language sources does not use the term Kodomo, but always uses the term "children's manga" when describing the demographic. Kodomo is also no in common English use, unlike the other demographic terms. —Farix (

I find the current eye used in this template to be rather unattractive, so I've created a mock-up for a replacement on the right using an .svg version of Wikipe-tan's eye. Opinions? (proposal retracted by Goszei at 08:53, 8 June 2020 (UTC)) —

It's just as good as the current eye used in this template, I'm unsure if such image will be replaced. «

Not done for now: please establish a
consensus for this alteration before using the {{
edit extended-protected}} template. Based on prior discussion, it seems you need to gain a consensus on this talk page first before people can be added as there are concerns about relative
notability and the list growing too long. Someone previously suggested adding Naoko, and another editor objected on notability grounds. See the following sections on this talk page’s archive:

Not done: There must be Wikipedia articles on the topics to include them in any template.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
They are mentioned here in the page for the animated video as the directors.
Anyone else feel like this section should just be removed entirely? It's way too bloated to have any sort of utility, and even if the list were to be reduced significantly I don't think it's possible (or even desirable) to build consensus around establishing criteria for inclusion. I suppose one option is to reduce it to only the people whose status as pillars of the industry is more or less universally recognized (Tezuka, Miyazaki, Hagio, etc), but even that's a subjective judgement, and seems likely to lead to a slow creep of names being added/re-added that just creates the same problem all over again.

I think the appropriate thing to do, rather than list individuals, would be to link to categories or lists of related professions under which those people might be listed, such as
List of manga artists,
Category:Anime directors,
Category:Japanese animators,
List of light novel authors (okay, that one doesn't exist but maybe it should), etc. This approach would make the template more helpful by allowing readers to refine down to the specific category of creator they are looking for and prevent the template from experiencing the aforementioned list creep. ostensibly singular userpage (inquire within) 19:21, 14 September 2022 (UTC)reply
I'd support that as an improvement over the status quo, but isn't the primary purpose of navboxes to link to articles rather than categories?
Morgan695 (

Well, if that's so, then it's entirely possible we might need more list articles of notable relevant individuals similar to
List of manga artists with which to populate that section of the template and generally aid navigation.
List of anime directors would be a good start, probably. I guess it's not as if that can't be created anyway, so maybe I'll just do that. ostensibly singular userpage (inquire within) 21:37, 14 September 2022 (UTC)reply
I think creating those lists suggested by the person with the microscopic username that I can't even read and linking to them is the way to go. On a similar subject, why does the infobox at
Manga, and
Template:Infobox comics nationality in general, have sections for "notable" publishers, magazines, creators and series, etc.? That has the same issues that Morgan brought up here, there's no way to decide which ones get listed and which dont.

There doesn't appear to be any major objections to the proposal, so I'm being
WP:BOLD and removing the laundry list. If additional lists for animators, light novel authors, etc. are created, they should be added to the infobox.
