The current map is a fine map of the river's basin, but the article needs a map that shows the river's location within France.

Unschool I agree. The infobox would have to be changed, but the map (right) of northern France could be added below the current detailed map...

Pronunciation
Isn't it pronounced Somme as in bomb rather than /sɔːm/ 'sawm' (like fraud)? — Preceding

Yes. At least in England, it always rhymes with "bomb". The reference is "reliable", but American, where there is "cot/caught merger": arguably the vowel might be lengthened, but I cannot imagine ("demerged") 'au'. LDEL (a UK offshoot of Merriam-Webster originally) gives just /sɔm/. I will be bold, to try to avoid lists of parenthesized pronunciation variations in the first sentence.

I checked further, and Merriam-Webster Collegiate 8th ed. gives /sɔm/ first, so I think that will do. (Actually their first key is "säm", as is "cot or cart", second is "sɘm", which would be the same as "some".
