212.139.96.83talk (Many Maya lived in cities. In the centre, people built large flat, paved areas we now call plazas, and surrounded them with palaces and temples. They connected their plazas by roads (causeways). Most buildings were cut from stone in local quarries to save having to carry blocks far. They also used limestone as it is quite soft, and easy to cut and shape using stone tools. There was a further bonus to this. As the rock was quarried, it left large pits. These were plastered over to make them water)Tag: Reverted
