The Merak Commuter Line or simply Merak Line, formerly Merak Local Train (
Indonesian: Kereta Api Lokal Merak),[1] is a local
commuter rail service operated by
KAI Commuter from
Merak Station to
Rangkasbitung Station in
Banten,
Indonesia. The service, which was reactivated on 1 April 2017, has a travel time up to 2 hours. It is one of the means of transportation for
Merak residents to travel to
Rangkasbitung (and
Tanah Abang in
Jakarta, using the
Rangkasbitung Line of the
KRL Commuterline). On the Commuterline travel map, the route is colored dark green (), so sometimes the service is often referred to as the Dark Green Line.
Initially, there was a train service for the
Angke–
Merak route under the name Banten Ekspres (Patas Merak).[2][3] Since the operation of the Rangkasbitung Line and the enactment of the 2017 train travel chart (Gapeka) as of 1 April 2017, Banten Ekspres was removed so that the Merak–Rangkasbitung line is only served by Merak Local Train.[4]
As of 1 June 2023, the Ministry of Transportation, via the 2023 Train Travel Chart (Gapeka), renamed the route from Merak Local Train into its present name.[1]
Fare
KAI stipulates that the Merak local train fare is
Rp 3,000.00 for all passenger mileage. Merak Local Train ticket reservations can use the Access by KAI app which is valid 7 days before departure or 2 hours before departure.
