The Cikarang Loop Line (formerly Bekasi Line and Cikarang Line), officially the Cikarang Commuter Line, is a commuter rail line in Jakarta, Indonesia which is operated by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI). The line connects Kampung Bandan station in North Jakarta and Cikarang station in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. On maps and diagrams, the line is shown using the color "blue" ( ). Jakarta Kota–Cikarang is the extension of previously Jakarta Kota–Bekasi line which connects to Cikarang since 8 October 2017. [2]

As of 2015, the line is the third-busiest line in the KA Commuter system, after red line and yellow line. [3] [4]

Before 28 May 2022, there used to be two routes operating between Jakarta Kota and Bekasi. One serves via Manggarai and other one via Pasar Senen. [5] Line and stations between Jakarta Kota and Manggarai were shared with the Jakarta Kota–Bogor line.

KAI Commuter announced in 21 May 2022 that the line will be renamed as Cikarang Loop Line with new abbreviation (C) by 28 May 2022, as part of Manggarai station upgrade. The line ceased operating to Jakarta Kota and no longer serves Jakarta Kota-Manggarai segment, which is served exclusively by the Bogor Line. Trains from Bekasi or Cikarang arriving at Jatinegara now continue through city loop previously used by Loop Line, clockwise or counterclockwise, and then return to Bekasi or Cikarang. Several trains end their journey at Angke or Kampung Bandan without looping. [6] In response to passenger congestion at Manggarai, a feeder service serving Manggarai-Angke/Kampung Bandan portion of the line was introduced on 30 May 2022 to minimise waiting time. [7]

Route patterns

There are three main distinct patterns of the route:

  • Full-racket, counterclockwise (listed as "Kampung Bandan via Pasar Senen"): Cikarang/Bekasi - Jatinegara - Pasar Senen - Kampung Bandan - Manggarai - Jatinegara - Cikarang/Bekasi. This pattern loops counterclockwise in Jatinegara-intersected loop, hence reaches northern half (Pondok Jati, Pasar Senen, Gang Sentiong, etc) of the loop first. This pattern passes and stops at all stations, except some services which start or terminate at Bekasi.
  • Full-racket, clockwise (listed as "Kampung Bandan via Manggarai"): Cikarang/Bekasi - Jatinegara - Manggarai - Kampung Bandan - Gang Sentiong - Jatinegara - Cikarang/Bekasi. This pattern loops clockwise in Jatinegara-intersected loop, hence reaches southern half (Manggarai, Tanah Abang, Duri etc) of the loop first. This pattern passes all stations (except some services which start or terminate at Bekasi), but does not stop at Pasar Senen, which is one-way only towards Kampung Bandan for counterclockwise trains.
  • Half-racket, clockwise (listed as "Kampung Bandan via Manggarai" or "Cikarang via Manggarai"): Cikarang/Bekasi - Jatinegara - Manggarai - Angke/Kampung Bandan and vice versa. This route is not a full loop, but rather an end-to-end line consisting of the southern part of the loop and the straight line from Cikarang or Bekasi to Jatinegara. Some trains terminate at Angke, while others terminate at Kampung Bandan.

In addition, there is a minority service towards Jakarta Kota that only operates at certain times outside of rush hour (such as midnight and early hours) and isn't officially acknowledged on the map:

  • Half-racket, counterclockwise (listed as "Jakarta Kota via Pasar Senen"): Cikarang/Bekasi - Jatinegara - Pasar Senen - Kampung Bandan - Jakarta Kota and vice versa. This route is not a full loop, but rather an end-to-end line consisting of the northern part of the loop plus a section between Kampung Bandan and Jakarta Kota, and the straight line from Cikarang or Bekasi to Jatinegara. The section between Kampung Bandan and Jakarta Kota is shared with Tanjung Priok Line.
