Per the discussion found at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 November 5#Sandra Lerner (Q7549), there seems to rough consensus to prevent "Wikidata-style" titles from being created, specifically in makeshift disambiguators in titles. I have an idea of how to accomplish that in this blacklist, but fear there may be a few false positives that appear every so often. Here is my idea:

I don't see any current data for P-numbered items in relation to either bad titles or existing articles (false positives), and I don't see any bad titles with lower case identifiers - maybe someone could shed light on that. --

(with at least 5 or 6 digits) will not catch any false positives (as one of the titles at the RfD was Q7549). If necessary, I'd support the creation of an edit filter for probable cases (i.e. when a Wikidata ID shorter than 5 digits could plausibly mean something else) and adding cases that are almost indubitably IDs to the blacklist. Also, is it necessary to include lowercase (will not be created by bots) or P numbers (which are at most 4 digits), which are both less likely creations and offer more false positives?

(talk) 08:33, 16 November 2019 (UTC)There's a song Wikipedia calls " Bloodmoney", but the rest of the world spells "BLOODMONEY". It shouldn't be an article, but it is. The third problem is the insanity in the track listing notes at I Disagree. At least two editors want to say it's stylized in all caps, despite that being clearly false to someone reading Wikipedia. Rather than pipe it the normal way (which was undone) or specify Sumerian Records does it that way (also undone), I figured I'd move it to the correct title. But it was blacklisted. Searched the archives, found nothing. Help? InedibleHulk ( talk) 20:23, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Just had the case of Nina Коvacheva at the help desk - note the cyrillic К and о. When I attempted to move the page to change the K, not noticing the O at the time, I was prevented by the blacklist until both were changed.
However, should it not have prevented the creation of the page in the first place?

Something which catches all variants of "LilZavier" and "Lil Zavier" with characters either before or after needs to be added, due to User talk:LilZavier and User talk:LilZavier1's continued vanity page creations. Nathan2055 talk - contribs 21:41, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
At RfD, we came across a redirect containing a word joiner (U+2060). The redirect is Fernando Zor ending with four copies of the word joiner. I think non-printing characters should be blacklisted, but we will need do compose a list of them first, and perhaps a custom message is warranted. I have also proposed a global blacklist request covering non-printing characters in usernames. – LaundryPizza03 ( d c̄) 18:11, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
Note the unusual characters in this username: 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲. This appears to be an abuse of the charcters from the Unicode block Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols to make a name that is hard to distinguish from the similar-looking Latin alphabet text, and impossible to search for using standard tools. Another example of similar manipulation is 𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖉 𝕺𝖋 𝖘𝖍𝖆𝖉𝖔𝖜𝖘 𝖝𝖊𝖓. I've added some patterns at User:AmandaNP/UAA/Blacklist to try to catch any repetition of this or similar ruses, but I'm surprised this wasn't caught at source by MediaWiki:Titleblacklist or similar mechanisms. Does anyone know how this might have been achieved, and how we could stop it from happening again? -- The Anome ( talk) 12:30, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Please block any title containing /El Polimata/i, or at least beginning with it, /^El Polimata/i. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Elmenormcrd. Recently, there has been an uptick in vandal accounts entitled “I can make my testicles go up and down”. Some of these accounts are probably sockpuppets of the same person, but others don’t appear to be. I propose that we blacklist the phrases “testicles go up and down” as well as “balls go up and down” to curb this problem. It is really tiresome for users like me to have to revert their edits and then report the username. If we blacklisted those phrases, the bot would report it to UAA and save us plenty of time. I propose adding the following to the title blacklist for English Wikipedia:
/el pol[ií]mata/i
This is pursuant to creation and deletion of many main space and draft space articles under numerous titles created by a succession of sockpuppet accounts intent on keeping alive an article on a Dominican rapper who goes by this name who has yet to be judged notable. (See the deletion discussion at en:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/El Polimata.) Sometimes several of these articles exist simultaneously, and disambiguating titles are used to get around titles that are already salted. The case history is at en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/El Menor Mc. Largoplazo ( talk) 16:42, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

such (pseudo)namespaces. There may be rare cases where it would be acceptable to create such a title as a redirect to an article or section on a WikiProject— Special:PrefixIndex/WikiProject shows a few such titles without colon, which is why I'm not requesting the blacklist extend to that pattern—but those can be handled on a case-by-case basis by sysops/TPEs/PMRs; I doubt it will come up at all, given that it never has before. Looks like foreign characters are banned from titles in mainspace, userspace, and filespace, but not draftspace. I suggest changing all instances of (User|Wikipedia|File)

. It's a bit shorter (by using Unicode ranges), plus it includes a couple more extra characters to cover. I used
regexr.com to test. This new pattern should not be any more restrictive.

There have multiple attempts to create articles on Ahmed Al-Hemrayi Ahmed Alhemrayi, and other disambiguated forms of these names. There are also attempts to evade the record by the insertion of unnecessary disambiguators after the name, which will be blocked by the title blacklist. Most of these attempts are made by sockpuppets. Robert McClenon ( talk) 00:37, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

Cryptic 21:20, 21 August 2022 (UTC)I have compiled a list of all the pages, existing or deleted, that contain the anti-Mexican ethnic slur
beaner — specifically, matching the regex .*[Bb]eaner.*
— in the title at
the Quarry, using code recycled from the Ronald Merkle request above. The results consist mostly of user talk pages, many for users blocked for vandalism or offensive usernames. Aside from Beaner itself, the only mainspace pages matching the word are:

A title containing a
modifier letter left half ring, used in some contexts for
transliteration of Arabic, threw a false-positive match for a blacklist entry beginning with (?!(User
— it is unclear which one — when I attempted to move the article
Abū al‐ʿUqūl to the same title with a
hyphen-minus instead of the non-ASCII
hyphen. –

I don't usually mess with the blacklist, but Ticket:2023040210003924 was requesting the removal of an entry, and it seemed reasonable enough. What's the usual procedure for removing items from the blacklist? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! ⚓ 21:36, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

I believe this is an uncontroversial entry because the Special talk: namespace does not exist, and new users might be confused where to discuss special pages or report bugs for them. A new user might assume that " Special talk:ListUsers" is the talk page for " Special:ListUsers", given Wikipedia talk:About and Talk:About are talk pages. MediaWiki does not have special talk pages and showing a notice letting them know where the actual talk page is will be helpful for new users. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis ❄️ 17:18, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
