In July of last year, you edited the article on the American Hairless Terrier to say that one such dog killed 2501 rats within a seven-hour period in one barn, and cited a source.
This is a ludicrous number, as it would require the dog to have killed a rat every ten seconds for seven hours nonstop. Since I assume you have the physical book, could you double-check? Perhaps you mistranscribed the figure. DS ( talk) 04:22, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello 7&6=thirteen,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

7&6=thirteen: I respectfully request that you remove or strike your recent negative comment ("Of course, the folks who proposed this could have helped improve it too."
) from
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seed-counting machine. I spent several hours on this project, edited the article 5 times (which is easily discoverable from the edit history) including adding an infobox, a template, a category, and two more photographs I found. I cleaned up all of the citations (after actually reading them), created the talk page, added notes for future article improvement, and also linked to the article from two other articles. I had originally discovered this article because it was tagged as an orphan and I was cruisin'
the orphan list.
It was in such a sorry state when I came across it, that it would have been blanked had I removed all the policy/guideline violations, and I couldn't find anything in Wikipedia which came even close to touching on the subject in order to un-orphan it. The
ARS group saw some potential, TNTed the article, and has fabulously turned it into something of value. Yes, I contributed to the edit-fest, so your 'unflattering' comment was uncalled for. Your other comment "kind of like getting a vaccine, I suppose"
was also off-color and inappropriate. I see you noticed that
I had already withdrawn the AfD, so why dig at me on the record? Please just remove or strike the comment from the AfD.

"In assessing the discussion, I have discarded all !votes that purely related to procedural issues. Given the wide section of the community that came to take part in this discussion, the procedural issues are reduced in relevance. I hear their concerns, and if this was a poorly-attended debate - or one that did not have such a clear consensus - I would factor them in.
"However, on the topic of content, there is a clear consensus to delete this article. Ultimately it has come down to an interpretation of our relevant notability guidelines, and there is a strong consensus that this article does not meet those requirements."

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank Masters, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. 'Do not delete other people's comments in AfD discussions, this is inexcusable.' MrsSnoozyTurtle 07:22, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
...However any sincerity to your apology is destroyed by the WP:BATTLEGROUND attitude in the rest of your message.
Also the whole episode with the collapsing has been very frustrating. I collapsed the replies (same as has been done many times in discussions by your ARS buddies) purely to remove the distraction, because the discussion turned out to be not specific to the AfD in question. But then suddenly you're throwing accusations of "bowdlerizing" (whatever that means) at me. And your edit summary of "You don't get to highlight your attack and hide my response" is a big leap of bad faith and misrepresenting the situation. MrsSnoozyTurtle 07:52, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

Best wishes for a safe, healthy and prosperous 2022. | |
Thank you for your contributions toward making Wikipedia a better and more accurate place. BoringHistoryGuy ( talk) 20:19, 26 December 2021 (UTC) Moral lesson: John Vanderlyn was an American painter who studied in Paris, and his life-sized Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos was one of the first large nudes exhibited in the United States. Peddling the poison as well as the cure, this overtly sensuous work was presented to the public as a moral lesson on the consequences of lascivious behavior. Visible in the distance is the ship of Princess Ariadne's secret lover, Theseus, for whom she has betrayed her people by helping him to escape the Labyrinth and slay the Minotaur. Ariadne's bliss will come to an end when she awakens from her post-coital reverie, only to discover that the faithless Theseus has sailed away without her. |

Original: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Deletions and editor retention Full text: Studies show, editing on wikipedia is stagnating. I have been an editor off and on wikipedia for 12 years. Wikipedia has become less and less welcoming for new editors because of more and more deletion and speed deletion rules. There is a very negative company culture about new edits here on wikipedia. Editors who encourage deletion of good faith edits are rewarded, editors who fight against this trend are banned or leave in frustration.
Editors, especially new editors, are consistently treated like shit here by a like minded group of editors.
I have come to one sad conclusion: That Jimmy Wales, the founder of this site, is the person most responsible for this trend. He is most responsbile for this site's negative company culture. I believe that it is in the best interest of the long term future of Wikipedia that Jimmy Wales step down. I beleive wikipedia needs a new company culture that is more inclusive and kind. If you have a better idea how to change this trend, something that has never been tried before, I would love to hear it. Thoughts?

Thank you for participating in Wikipedia's longevity project pages. You may be interested to learn that lkm512 yogurt has two different publications that describe it increasing mouse lifespan 95% and about 85% respectively. Yogurt starter is available at Amazon Japan. Also. I read that only 1/3 of over 49 biological health sciences studies at a sample could be replicated. That suggests the C60 95% longevity increase study merits more efforts at replication. That's particularly meaningful as C60 buckminsterfullerene has several other studies noting beneficial effects on fungi and algae. Treonsverdery ( talk) 23:08, 25 February 2022 (UTC) |

Today is a feast day for which Bach wrote several cantatas including Mit Fried und Freud ich fahr dahin, BWV 125, which was on DYK 10 years ago and TFA 4 years ago.
