This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Albums and songs. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Albums and songs|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove links to other discussions ( prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Albums and songs.

Article about a song, not properly referenced as having any serious claim to passing WP:NSONGS. As always, songs are not automatically entitled to have their own standalone articles just because they exist, and have to show and reliably source some claim of significance -- but the main attempt at a notability claim here is that versions of the song appeared on albums that had gold certification as albums, which is not in and of itself evidence that the song has its own standalone notability independently of those albums, and the article is referenced entirely to primary source directory entries that are not support for notability, with not a whit of GNG-worthy reliable source coverage about the song in media or books shown at all. Nothing here is "inherently" notable enough to exempt the song from having to be the subject of reliable source coverage. Bearcat ( talk) 17:19, 26 April 2024 (UTC) reply

In addition to AllMusic, I was able to find a review from Hit Parader, but that's all. HCS.net ( archived) appears to be a blog and I doubt it would hold up to scrutiny in terms of reliability. The sales claim might be worth investigating but could've easily been made up for all I know. Maybe other editors will consider AllMusic and Hit Parader to be the bare minimum for a pass, but I think we ought to be just a tad more strict than that. Fails WP:NALBUMS, unable to find any reliable sources for the mixtape. Only able to find something about The YS Collection compilation, which is not this mixtape. I found this review from Sputnikmusic, but it only critiques the mixtape and offers no further insight to the mixtape apart from surface-level coverage. Regardless, one source isn't enough for notability. Locust member ( talk) 13:05, 25 April 2024 (UTC) reply

IDK why this is even an article? It doesn't even have a corresponding Spanish article. Maybe some of this could go to Wikisource? I don't know. No sign of notability in any way. Heck it's entry on Wikisource got deleted due to WP:COPYVIO concerns. Allan Nonymous ( talk) 23:47, 24 April 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Albums and songs and Colombia. WCQuidditch 00:08, 25 April 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Delete: as a long-time resident of Colombia, I know that every departamento (state), every city, and even some towns have their own local "national anthem", which is what this is... for those outside of the country, it's just something Colombian mayors and governors feel very passionately about, that every place needs its own anthem. But the notability outside of the city or departamento is zero. The nominator is a Colombian himself, so he will know just how little notability these anthems have outside of annual parades. Fails GNG. Did a WP:BEFORE search and everything I found mentions the album in passing. 🌙Eclipse ( talk) ( contribs) 12:13, 23 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Redirect to Boards of Canada: Found nothing on the album. Not too surprising given "limited to 50 copies world-wide, which were handed out to friends and family" and it being two years before their first major release. QuietHere ( talk | contributions) 03:00, 24 April 2024 (UTC) reply

There's an AllMusic review, and this book suggests the album charted in the US (if i'm reading it correctly, that is), but beyond that this album doesn't look particularly notable. Unless more is found, I would redirect this to the artist's page. QuietHere ( talk | contributions) 07:39, 23 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Can't find any mention of this album anywhere. Additionally posted my concerns to the talk page in an attempt to get sources added so I'm assuming WP:GNG fails. Allan Nonymous ( talk) 22:59, 15 April 2024 (UTC) reply

I found this blurb and this review, the latter after just searching for Awesome Mix Tape. A few sources (likely unreliable zines but might be worth checking) used Awesome Mix Tape #6 or just Awesome Mix Tape 6 instead, so it's probably worth a deeper search with that in mind. A lot of 1980s/'90s punk albums like this one slipped under the radar for major publications, but that doesn't mean there's nothing out there for them. And I wouldn't rely too much on article talk pages for seeking out sources for something since the only editors who will see that are those who have the page on their watchlists, which could be nobody. Fortunately, AfDs are made to get a lot more eyes. QuietHere ( talk | contributions) 04:14, 16 April 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Leaning Keep, at minimum redirect. Reviewed in Melody Maker, Daily Herald, Regina Leader-Post, The Morning Call, The Press of Atlantic City (surprisingly long), The Indianapolis Star, The San Diego Union-Tribune. Don't have full access to everything, but many of the other hits seem to be mentions in show previews/show reviews. Caro7200 ( talk) 16:05, 17 April 2024 (UTC) reply
I would agree on a redirect here. Is there a way you could provide links to the sources here? If these sources have good WP:DEPTH I would be more than willing to change my mind. Allan Nonymous ( talk) 22:47, 17 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Non-notable album. The song in it, "I hear a symphony", may be notable, but is already covered in the author's page ( Cody Fry). Broc ( talk) 09:57, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Redirect to Cody Fry: found zero evidence of notability. QuietHere ( talk | contributions) 11:34, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Keep "Flying" and "Better" are also notable songs on this album. His live performance of "Better" has 2.3M views on YouTube and "Flying" has 1M views. Most of the tracks on this album are Cody Fry's more popular songs. Billybob2002 ( talk) 17:43, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply
  • That still doesn't mean that the album has to have its own page. The songs could still be covered in the Cody Fry article. Geschichte ( talk) 09:51, 16 April 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Weak Keep merge: Beyond the success of individual songs on the album, I've found at least a handful of news stories on the album. It's marginally notable, but notable. ~ Pbritti ( talk) 00:43, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Pbritti could you provide some links? Broc ( talk) 10:23, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply
Of course. Sorry for not including them initially! Atwood Magazine was the initial source that gave me optimism about a keep, but looking at the other sources, they're all campus newspapers. A bummer, but now I'm more keen on a merge to redirect. Thanks for following up. ~ Pbritti ( talk) 16:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC) reply
Thanks! I had also found the Atwood magazine one, but interviews do not contribute to notability. Broc ( talk) 08:20, 19 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Pbritti The sources I added and yours does not make you think of keeping this article? The sources I added are non-campus newspapers/sources. Billybob2002 ( talk) 03:44, 19 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Billybob2002 thanks for adding the sources, but interviews do not contribute to the notability of an album. Broc ( talk) 08:23, 19 April 2024 (UTC) reply
