Delete per WP:RDAB, it was at this title for a few months in 2006. The one with 2 errors is being discussed at #Yoda(Song). Crouch, Swale ( talk) 19:50, 29 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Keep as completely harmless. While there isn't benefit to routinely creating pages with capitalised disambiguators, there is also no benefit to deleting those that are created and a possibility of harm (although usually a small possibility it is not zero) of harm if there are external links. Thryduulf ( talk) 15:48, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Weak keep. Hate to be the stickler here, but regarding improper capitalization, WP:RDAB currently only applies to variations of the word "disambiguation". Steel1943 ( talk) 17:15, 31 January 2024 (UTC) reply
I wandered a while ago if RDAB applied to qualifiers of generic terms other than the title "disambiguation" but it has been cited to deleted such redirects. In any case WP:UNNATURAL "an error specific to Wikipedia titling conventions that would likely not be arrived at naturally by readers, thereby adding to the implausibility". Redirects may be cheap and although the error isn't as bad as missing brackets its still an implausible error as its highly unlikely it would be useful as people using internal search would still be taken to the correct location and its unlikely anyone would use an incorrect qualifier with direct URLs. Crouch, Swale ( talk) 18:20, 31 January 2024 (UTC) reply
its unlikely anyone would use an incorrect qualifier with direct URLs. citation needed What makes you say that? Do you have any evidence for it? People search for all sorts of disambiguators with all sorts of capitalisation using all available methods, when they use a plausible capitalisation for anything that isn't a disambiguator we almost always keep it. I see no reason to treat disambiguators differently. Thryduulf ( talk) 19:15, 31 January 2024 (UTC) reply
Since 2015 its had 100 views[ [1]] of which 10 are from this discussion. I think its likely most of those 90 would either have got to the correct page anyway because search would taken them or are perhaps other background views from bots or similar. Crouch, Swale ( talk) 20:10, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Weak keep; such redirects are not technically wrong and I believe there is a whole lot of these out there, so I don't think it's that useful to delete them. 1234qwer 1234qwer 4 00:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Redirect makes no sense. The term "Pinkmafias" is not related to Club Penguin. Sparkl talk 17:30, 29 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Delete. There are three instances of "pinkmafia" (singular) in article space on en.wp, two are the name of a website used as a reference on unrelated articles and the third is the penultimate entry at Xavier Naidoo discography#Album noting the subject's appearance on another artist's album; there are no mentions of "pinkmafias" with an s. Talk:Club Penguin/Archive 3#Famous Penguins contains a mention of "Pink Mafias" in a list of "famous penguins" proposed to be added to the article by an ip editor in 2007, however subsequent comments in the discussion rejected this on verifiability grounds; this is the only instance of "Pink Mafias" anywhere on Wikipedia. Pink Mafia is a redirect to Anti-LGBT rhetoric and the term gets mentioned (uncapitalised) in that context on another article, and capitalised it is used in other contexts on four other articles but in none of those instances is it puralised or written without a space. Per discussion on Talk page -- my contribution to which copied below:

There are at least two journals which currently have the title Hermes:

In light of this, it is wrong for "Hermes (journal)" to be a hard redirect to one that doesn't currently use that title (and hasn't since 1981). There is far too much opportunity for confusion, particularly for editors making links from article bibliographies. Neither journal is massively more prominent than the other, so WP:NOPRIMARY applies, and this should be a disambiguation page between the three, not a redirect. At the very least, the primary target should be a journal actually known by that name. I think it's inappropriate, and an unlikely search term. I see we have Category:Last words which contains redirects of long texts not mentioned in the target articles. I have to disagree. If the text is not important enough to mention in the articles, they should not be redirects. Regardless, I find this one particularly inappropriate. While this article might be about an auxillary shrine in the general sense of the word, it is not called a "subshrine" anywhere here. To this effect, it may not even be the only type of shrine that could be considered a "subshrine", as there's a whole section for Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala#Subshrines, as well as a sizeable assortment of other articles which discuss non-Japanese shrines. Catchphrase that is not mentioned at the target article in any capacity. Utopes ( talk / cont) 08:07, 22 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Delete: It's a pretty famous quote from that movie; however, it's not a good redirect as it's unmentioned and while it's memorable, there isn't a great way of incorporating it into the article. It also doesn't seem to appear anywhere on wikiquote, so a soft retarget also doesn't seem possible. Tartar Torte 18:40, 22 January 2024 (UTC) reply

This word means "Portuguese" in French (which can refer to both the country and the language). The current target is not helpful because this type of grape is not called "Portugais" (the article mentions that the grape type is called "Portugais Bleu", which is a partial title match). I think that either retargeting to the disambiguation page Portuguese (or perhaps Portugal or Portuguese language) or deleting per WP:FORRED, would be better than the current state of affairs. This doesn't seem to be very helpful, as this phrase is not used in the article GnocchiFan ( talk) 13:19, 14 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Comment The Analects is the "Sayings of Confucius", so I guess the topic kind of fits (although not necessarily to Chapters). But, "Confucius says" as popularly used is a kind of catchphrase often done in a jokey way and not meant to reflect what Confucius actually said. It may have been popularized by the Charlie Chan character in films as "Confucius say" (mentioned in the article), but I'm not entirely sure. It is used commonly enough, so it would not be right to delete it, but I'm not sure where to redirect it to. Perhaps to Confucius since that is the person referred to. Or Charlie Chan, but that article doesn't say enough about it. Hzh ( talk) 17:48, 14 January 2024 (UTC) reply

You got it the wrong way round, the book titles are just a play on the popular use of "Confucius says". Its use in book titles shows that the phrase is well-known enough to be used that way, it says nothing about the notability of the book themselves Hzh ( talk) 16:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • I've looked at some more (but not all) and my opinions are varied (in all cases, a lack of mention of Wiktionary means there is nothing relevant there):
    • Delete ILYM. There are passing mentions in three articles here, one is clearly just a partial match, the other two are equally relevant but neither enough to anchor a redirect or support a DABMENTION, so search results are the best we can do here.
    • Retarget BBIAF to wikt:bbiaf.
    • Retarget GD&R to wikt:Appendix:glossary of textspeak#G where it is mentioned.
    • Weak delete LIGAS. "Ligas" gets lots of hits as the plural of "Liga", mainly in relation to Peruvian football, but everything is a partial title match and not rendered in all caps. The Liga dab page does offer a link to search results for "Ligas" but none of the main entries have the S, and doesn't offer the Peruvian or Spanish leagues so while I wouldn't object to retargetting there deletion is my slight preference.
    • Delete PMJI, HMITL and GFETE lots of hits, but (almost) all from PDFs, and at least the majority are obvious OCR errors or nonense. Thryduulf ( talk) 16:43, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
    • Retarget GBCW to Wikt:Appendix:Glossary of blogging#G where it has an entry (that needs cleaning up). This acronym is encountered a few times is en.wp discussion spaces and on one user page, but nowhere in article space. This page does have a long history, but it has only ever been a redirect or soft redirect. Thryduulf ( talk) 16:43, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Retarget omglolwtfbbq to wikt:OMGWTFBBQ, close enough and explains the point. At first I thought delete, but it survived Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omglolwtfbbq. – Fayenatic London 18:39, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Delete where no better ideas have been suggested. I think most were redirected to List of Internet slang phrases which was not merged in full to wikt:Appendix:English internet slang. – Fayenatic London 18:39, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Another few:
    • Delete ROTFLOLWBAG nothing at Wiktionary, nothing unrelated to this redirect here.
    • Delete SPYFN At first glance there are lots of hits at Wiktionary, but they're actually all because the search engine interprets it as a typo of "Spain" for some reason. Google hits are a mixture of several things, most prominently a function in (I think) javascript and what I think is a sports broadcaster, but no typos for "Spain" (or slang abbreviations for that matter).
    • Delete AR2D. Nothing at Wiktionary and only OCR junk here. Google hits are almost exclusively product codes.
    • Delete QLOL. Nothing but OCR junk here, everything at Wiktionary is actually "*qloːl" in reconstructed Old Chinese.
    • Retarget MIASU to Global Oriental#Inner Asia journal. Inner Asia is the journal of the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit (MIASU), and there is a paragraph about that at the suggested target and nothing but mentions elsewhere.
    • Retarget LATN to Latin script, "Latn" (in various capitalisations) is the ISO 15924 code for the script and it is widely used. Additionaly, it is the abbreviation for Líneas Aéreas de Transporte Nacional a former Paraguayan airline that might notable but about which we have no content. If that article is created, then I'd support retargetting there and adding a hatnote back to the script. Thryduulf ( talk) 18:45, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Another batch of recommendations:
    • Delete JTOL, JTDC, IBTB - nothing (relevant) at Wiktionary, only OCR nonsense here.
    • Delete IYAI. We cite a person called Denny A. Iyai in two different articles related to southern Indonesia, and note it as the/a Beja languge word for "thin" at Cushtic languges but none of those are good redirect targets. Wiktionary has a few hits, but nothing relevant to anything an English speaker is likely to search here.
    • Weak retarget HWGA to King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy. This is the only use of this acronym on enwp, and the primary topic for my google searches. There is nothing at Wiktionary.
    • Weak delete HBBS. This has a surprisingly long history, but apart from 3 days in 2008 it has always been a redirect. The single revision as an article, ostensibly about a company but about half the text is about one of its products. It would not be speedily deletable under A7 as there are clear claims of singificance about the product. There are two external links, neither of which work today. Looking on archive.org, the Ohio Secretary of State site would, at best, verify existence of the company (but probably not the product) but not speak to notability. The hbbs.us domain was replaced by hoeningbigboresouth.com, which verifies the existence of the product but obviously can't speak to notability. This was the author's sole contribution to Wikipedia. I wouldn't delete it as G11 myself as it's borderline (and therefore the criterion does not apply) but would let someone else speedying it under that criterion slide, especially since this was 15 years ago and was not a BLAR (the redirect is the stable state for this title). If anyone does want to restore the content for AfD purposes though then I will support that. Thryduulf ( talk) 22:27, 30 January 2024 (UTC) reply
  • And yet another batch:
    • Delete FTLOG, AFAIH, WTFITSTM nothing at Wiktionary, nothing but OCR noise and/or hits about this redirect here.
    • Delete BSEG. This is an acornym for, at least, Behavioural Science Expert Group (a UK Cabinet Office group), Big Screen Entertainment Group (a US distribution and production company), Brohltal Schmalspur-Eisenbahn Betriebs-GmbH (a German narrow-gauge railway company, probably de:Brohltalbahn)) and Bulletin de la Société d'Égyptologie de Genève (a journal) we don't have any content about any of them but any or all of them might be notable (I haven't investigated)
    • Delete BBIAW. Nothing at Wiktionary, nothing relevant here.
    • Delete BBFN, it's used with the explained meaning "bye-bye for now" at Springtime with Roo (and q:Springtime with Roo) and with the different explained meaning "Broadband/Fixed Network" at Deutsche Telekom, a user encountering it in either of those places doesn't need to look it up. Every other hit is just OCR noise. Thryduulf ( talk) 19:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply
    • Retarget IKWYM to wikt:IKWYM (that I've just created).
    • Delete YYSSW this is used a few times in talk spaces, but there is no suitable target here or at Wiktionary. This has a long history but other than vandalism in 2009 it's only ever been a redirect.
    • Delete IGhost While this has been a stub about three different things, the first was just a dicdef "A person on the web who deliberatly plays pranks. Also known as a wwwdotpoltergist." (I can't verify this, and it feels like an A11 candidate), the second a free "phproxy host" (this would be deleted under A7 and G11 if restored) and a YouTuber (this stub would also be deleteable per A7). As all the non-redirect revisions would be speedily deletable if reverted to there is no issue with deletion here - and as there is no relevant content here or at Wiktionary deletion is the only real option.
    • Restore UTFSF (specifically this revision) and merge to RTFM (or add new material there and redirect). Redirection was a BLAR that happened after there was no consensus to merge to RTFM (2006), however that page does contain information about the very similar concept of "let me google that for you". A quick google suggests there are likely ample sources to support the 1-2 sentences that would be appropriate (which may or may not have been available in 2006). Thryduulf ( talk) 19:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply
  • The probably final batch of my reccomendations:
  • Keep all as a trainwreck. This is a mess; some have history, some are mentioned elsewhere, etc. Queen of Hearts 19:22, 5 February 2024 (UTC) reply
  • My first choice is to action all per Thryduulf, whose research of all of these is very much appreciated. Second choice would be to keep all as a trainwreck, if no other consensus emerges. Elli ( talk | contribs) 05:47, 6 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Minus the scrub of "new" content from 2009, the target page has not been edited in 11 years (2013). Does not seem to be in need of a pseudo-namespace redirect for quick access which shares room in article space. Utopes ( talk / cont) 18:33, 20 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Keep As evident from the history, this page is still frequented by members of the WP:SLO project. Perhaps not as much as in the past, but it is still in use, it is an integral part of the project pages, and I don't see any need to scrap the redirect just because. The acronym saves us typing a long text that is hard to type and remember. -- TadejM my talk 18:40, 20 January 2024 (UTC) reply
I'm curious about the evidence from the history that you say, because as mentioned above it hasn't been touched since 2013. The only "new image" in the announcements was uploaded in 2010, and the last "new category" was from 2012. I'm surprised that those weren't cleared by User:A09, but not what I was concerned about... Pseudo-namespace redirects are by-and-large unideal, as they don't occupy their own namespace and instead sit in main with the rest of the articles. The PNRs that we do keep are expected to be of high use and regular access, and not just a P: redirect for every page in portal space. 95% of the P: redirects are this. P:BIRD goes to Portal:Birds, P:HIS goes to Portal:History, and P:SLO goes to Portal:Slovenia. However, there's hardly any (looks to be 10 of these tops?) P: redirects that point to subpages. For this selection of pages without high traffic, these go against the purpose of PNRs in my eyes and don't have a justifiable need. The cons of it being a misplaced exception outweigh the pros of possible usage, which based on my previous understanding appears minimal-to-zero, but I could be wrong about that. Portal:SLO/A seems open which could be a possible portal-space alternative. Utopes ( talk / cont) 19:04, 20 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Apparently "stupid cunt" is a literal calque of the Chinese saying 傻屄. So I suggest retargeting to Mandarin Chinese profanity#Vagina, where this phrase is mentioned (or alternatively to wikt:傻屄, even though this is not ideal because there's been precedent to delete Wiktionary redirects from non-English words before). Redirect makes no sense. It uses both English (university) and Romanian (din, of) words. It uses the appropriate Romanian diacritic at Galați (rather than "Galati"; it's a city) but not at "Dunarea" (it should be "Dunărea"; it's the Danube). Completely arbitrary redirect. Super Dromaeosaurus ( talk) 19:20, 11 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Keep: it's a bizarre and seemingly unlikely alternative name, but I found it being used a couple times online (see here). I think the apostrophes might not be normative in this construction, though, so that raises a question of whether the redirect requires a move. ~ Pbritti ( talk) 15:23, 12 January 2024 (UTC) reply
Frankly, I cannot comprehend the rationale here. The redirect has been used in a year, not counting the views following this RfD nomination, five times [2]. You've mentioned one website which happens to use this arbitrary combination (without the diacritic at Galați, the random use and exclusion of diacritics in the redirect being half of my rationale). I simply do not see the need for a redirect using two different languages and arbitrarily chosing when to use diacritics. It's just random. And, indeed, it is not used. Romanians will use the Romanian name to look up the university, while English-speakers will use the English name. If someone decides to randomly mix languages in their search, they're just trying not to get to the page they want to read. Super Dromaeosaurus ( talk) 21:58, 12 January 2024 (UTC) reply

I had a brief edit war with Rickyurs over this redirect. It was created when Rickyurs moved article now at 2024 Santa Barbara International Film Festival to this title. He nominated it for speedy deletion under G6, but I declined his request because a separate article could be written about the 2023 instance. Rickyurs undid my decline, stating Associated talk page is still not resolved. It is better if it is deleted. Hence to RfD I go. Duckmather ( talk) 15:38, 3 January 2024 (UTC) reply

  • I think what the nomination meant is "from this title", and not "to this title", assuming "this title" is the redirect under discussion. Also Rickyurs in his comment, may have meant to delete the unresolved talk page, not the redirect. Keep the redirect and resolve the talk page by blanking, or retargeting to Talk:Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Jay 💬 09:37, 12 January 2024 (UTC) reply
