Subject of the article is a goalkeeper, invited to play in the Chinese National team. I really don't feel the invitation is enough to pass WP:NFOOTY. Wikigy t@lk to M£ 17:07, 11 June 2015 (UTC) reply

Being in a national squad for the World Cuu is not enough to pass WP:NFOOTY until she plays in the 2015 Women World Cup. She only pass WP:CSD#A7 for now as a member of the team. Wikigy t@lk to M£ 11:32, 13 June 2015 (UTC) reply
Yes, I'm fully aware that she fails WP:NFOOTY, which is why I didn't use that as a rationale for keeping the article. Try reading what I wrote again. Number 5 7 19:20, 14 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Delete - Nonetheless, she still fails WP:NFOOTY. There is also a big chance she as a goalie she wont get his international debut. MbahGondrong ( talk) 18:02, 11 June 2015 (UTC) reply
    • Yes, she does fail WP:NFOOTY, but given that she's in the World Cup squad, I think there is a strong case for WP:IAR; it's hardly as if she's non-notable. There's a high chance she passes GNG, but as most of the coverage of her is likely to be in Chinese, there's no way that I could find it. Number 5 7 19:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC) reply
      • Number 57, FYI, I put her name in Chinese on her page - you can search for it and find all the articles. You can tell by the headlines if they are about her, and do Google Translate to get the jist/date etc. I think she does pass GNG based on what I saw earlier. If you think this article is heading toward delete and you need help, please let me know. Мандичка YO 😜 20:28, 11 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Keep - there shouldn't be a rush to delete anyone on the World Cup teams - we'll know shortly whether or not they'll play; I really don't think the same argument would be made for a men's player. Also there are quite a few articles about Zhao ( being gorgeous doesn't hurt!) so it's not like she's a complete unknown; the material is available to create a credible bio. • Comment - If there are source that will make her notable on other topics, please add them. As you mentioned they are plenty of it please be so kind to add them as I am not able too understand Chinese. If the sources on the page are only about her football career, then she fail WP:NFOOTY. MbahGondrong ( talk) 07:22, 12 June 2015 (UTC) reply
She fails WP:NFOOTY and nothing more. The sources in chinese only talks about her football career. Wikigy t@lk to M£ 11:32, 13 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Delete - Third choice 'keeper, no games, fails GNG. This can be recreated if she ever makes her international debut.-- Egghead06 ( talk) 06:05, 12 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Just be patient. Whether or not this article should have been created—and I'm not assuming it should have been—there is absolutely, positively no reason that you can't hold off on a decision until the tournament is over. WP:NOTPAPER—the servers won't break if you wait. 24 hours after the tournament is over, or China is eliminated, or she plays, you'll get your answer, quick enough. StevenJ81 ( talk) 11:25, 12 June 2015 (UTC) reply
If the usual practice is to Wait for every "local player" to play in the World Cup, my Son, Cousin and Nephew would have been the subject of Wikipedia's article long time ago. The server won't break if we Wait for every "local player" to play in the World Cup. Wikigy t@lk to M£ 11:32, 13 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  •  Comment:-- subject of the article fails WP:NFOOTY at the moment. been the part of two major tournament squads does not translate into passing WP:NFOOTY. She has to play for the teams to pass WP:NFOOTY and since she hasn't played yet, she clearly fails WP:NFOOTY. I incline to consider the article's deletion for now and when she plays for these teams, perhaps soon someone with no WP:COI, who knows how to write an encyclopedic articles will write about her here. She will be notable in the future or she will play in the 2015, Women's World Cup and therefore "will pass WP:NFOOTY " is usually not a valid argument at WP:AfDs and its not a valid reason to "Keep" articles on Wikipedia either. • Keep - reserve keeper at the World Cup finals? If that isn't automatic notability, we need to fix our guidelines. In addition, the first game with Canada has massive coverage and viewership being the opening game of the World cup, with a massive TV audience, and setting a record for the number of people attending a Canadian national team game (male or female). The backup keeper is always going to be a bit different than other players. I have to wonder if there's some gender bias going on here, as the second best keeper in a nation of 1 billion people wouldn't be the subject of this discussion if they were male! • Keep - Fails WP:NFOOTY as has not played senior international football nor played in a fully professional league, but does appear to pass GNG, even in non-Chinese sources, although this does appear to be because of her looks rather than footballing ability, there are a number of international sources commenting on here:
  • Here in slovakian media
  • Here which is sourced from AOL news Japan
  • Here in Indonesia
  • Here which seems ultimately sourced from cnsoccer.com
  • Here in vietnam
  • and here in Indonesia again.

  • Keep - Fails NFOOTBALL but seems to have "gone viral", as it were, taking her into GNG territory in my opinion. Målfarlig! ( talk) 23:00, 15 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - @ Fenix down, @ Målfarlig!, @ Nfitz, @ Мандичка: Please edit the article with the non-football sources you guys found to make her notable. Since the article only shows football info, she does not fulfill WP:FOOTY and should be deleted. MbahGondrong ( talk) 18:10, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - please refresh your knowledge of GNG. This trumps all other guidelines. She is a professional footballer who has received significant international coverage. Fenix down ( talk) 18:25, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - I think you missed my point. I am not saying she fails WP:GNG, maybe she is notable because of her looks. But her article does not reflect that and none of the sources mentioned here are there. Please be so kindly to add them since the football-related sources does not make her notable per WP:GNG or WP:NFOOTY. MbahGondrong ( talk) 19:15, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
  • Comment Presumably an editor can add these after the AFD. No one is going to delete the article because the sources are only in the AFD discussion not the article! Nfitz ( talk) 20:31, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
don't make it somebody else's problem. Wikigy t@lk to M£ 20:49, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
Perhaps if you'd simply added the references spending everyone's time with this process, we could all have spent time improving articles rather than spending time here. WP:POTKETTLE Nfitz ( talk) 22:13, 19 June 2015 (UTC) reply
Perhaps if the users that provided the sources put the sources directly on the article instead here in AFD, that will REALLY save a lot of useless discussions. Cheers! MbahGondrong ( talk) 11:35, 20 June 2015 (UTC) reply
I've already spent a lot of time cleaning up your footballer stubs, @ MbahGondrong, since their cap/goal stats (amongst other things) are usually the product of your imagination. Målfarlig! ( talk) 12:43, 20 June 2015 (UTC) reply
Could you elaborate, which one are those are my imagination? Anyway I really appreciate you cleaning up articles I created. Thanks! :) MbahGondrong ( talk) 18:22, 20 June 2015 (UTC) reply

  • keep I notice that three of the players on the U.S. under-20 women's national team have wikipedia pages -- but they don't have a single international cap at the senior level nor have they played a single game in a professional league. How can you exclude a member of China's roster at the Women's World Cup -- but include American youth team members? I'd say that any roster member of a World Cup team is notable enough to have a wikipedia page. Smallchief ( talk 10:36, 20 June 2015 (UTC) reply
