Replaceable fair use File:Sundar Popo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Sundar Popo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster ( talk) 20:16, 4 October 2015 (UTC) reply

Rubber Soul

The page in AllMusic for the actual album says as clear as day that the "genre" is pop/rock. A P Monblat ( talk) 16:33, 17 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Doesn't the article, as it is currently, mix up the terms "genre" and "style". Overall it is an album in the pop rock genre. Folk rock is merely one of the styles deployed on the album. Unterberger did not say the *genre* was folk rock in terms. The Beatles were never part of the folk rock scene as say Dylan was. They merely did a few tracks on Rubber Soul in that *style*. They did not operate within that *genre*. There will be plenty of sources to back up my point. Here is one - from Rolling Stone. A P Monblat ( talk) 17:18, 17 August 2016 (UTC) reply

The Doobie Brothers infobox genres

Hi, I want to fully explain my changes to your edit of The Doobie Brothers' infobox genres. According to Template:Infobox musical artist#genre: (1) They don't need to be sourced, but it is a good idea to do so "to help prevent edit warring". But, it does need to be supported in the body of the article. (2) It says to "aim for generality" (genres, not sub-genres). And, when it comes down to it, "pop rock" and "soft rock" are pretty much the same, and the list of genres need to be as short as possible. New deal for page patrollers

Hi Thisbirdhadflown,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC) reply

While My Guitar Gently Weeps single image

Hi Mistymountain546. I imagine you'll be getting a notification soon enough, since you uploaded the previous image, but I've just replaced the Apple single label for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with the sheet music cover. I hope you're okay with this. My thinking is that a more specific image depicting the artist (or just the songwriter in this instance) is preferable to a generic Apple single label. And I guess I'm also mindful of just how few examples of free images we have that depict one or more of the Beatles, meaning that readers might welcome the image. Notice

The file File:Shrek Music from the Original Motion Picture.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album covers are generally allowed to be uploaded per item 1 of WP:NFCI when they are used for primary identification purposes in the main infobox or at the top of a stand-alone article about the album in question, but there use in other articles or in other ways requires a much stronger justification for non-free use per WP:NFC#cite_note-3. If this album is notable enough per WP:NALBUM for a stand-alone article, then this file's non-free use would most likely be fine in that article; however, List of songs featured in Shrek is basically one big discography for the Shrek movie franchise and individual non-free album covers are not needed for individual entries per WP:NFLISTS simply because someone decided to use {{ Infobox album}} in the article. Non-free album covers for movie soundtracks are not allowed in articles about the movies they're from per WP:FILMSCORE, so there's really no other place for this file to be used which would comply with WP:NFCCP

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 05:36, 18 June 2018 (UTC) reply

The above also applies to File:Shrek Original Motion Picture Score.jpg, File:Shrek 2 Soundtrack.jpg, File:Shrek 2 Party CD.jpg, File:Shrek 2 Score.jpg, File:Shrek the Third Soundtrack.jpg and File:Shrek the Third Score.jpg. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 05:43, 18 June 2018 (UTC) reply

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{ Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.

Thank you. George Ho ( talk) 05:42, 12 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. SummerPhD v2.0 16:19, 12 March 2020 (UTC) reply
