Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Jmichelson27, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Henry Danger has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geraldo Perez ( talk) 05:51, 1 February 2015 (UTC) reply

List of The Haunted Hathaways episodes

Hi Jmichelson27,

I saw your edits at List of The Haunted Hathaways episodes just now. I, among a few other editors, have been reverting any addition of the season 2 (and series) last aired date because it is not reliably sourced. The references presented in the article do show there are no additional episodes following "Haunted Family" (airing on March 5). However, none of them explicitly identify that episode as the season finale, series finale, final episode of the season/series, or words to that effect. Also see the article's talk page topic regarding this and give us your input if you wish. MPFitz1968 ( talk) 15:54, 6 March 2015 (UTC) reply

I have removed the part in the final episode's summary where you indicate it is the "series finale". That detail does not need to be emphasized if there are no additional episodes to follow in the article. After a few months (or years), readers will know it to be the last episode when they notice this. MPFitz1968 ( talk) 16:24, 6 March 2015 (UTC) reply

Cast list vs Character list

Re: these recent edits of yours, if you want to break down the list into Main and Recurring characters, you have to reorganize the entire list to be ordered by Characters, ex: Bella Dawson (portrayed by Brec Bassinger) - Brief description. It is currently a cast list, as indicated by the "Cast" in the header. If you're going to be editing television articles, you might strongly consider reading the Manual of Style for Television so that you're not editing against consensus and existing norms. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bella and the Bulldogs, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jonathan Howard. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Why did you remove plot content?

Hi, why did you remove so much plot content from Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn in these edits? What remains is little more than a 2-3 sentence logline and there is no longer a beginning, middle and end. The purpose of a summary is to summarize the story, and per WP:TVPLOT we're aiming for 150-200 words for this content. Please look at the Manual of Style when you make edits, and I really think you should put the previous summaries back unless you can provide a clear explanation for why the content isn't warranted. Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing. A tag has been placed on File:Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [3], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your recent editing history at List of Victorious episodes shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.   Krakatoa Katie 21:46, 28 June 2015 (UTC) reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Henry Danger. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You continue to insist on your edits, like this one, which go against Wikipedia's Manual of Style, including MOS:BOLD (which has specific uses in articles ... highlighting "notes" or "guest stars" in the episode list is not one of them) and replace quite valid references for viewership numbers without explanation. You have been given plenty of opportunity to explain these edits, either on your talk page or the talk pages of the articles you have affected, and have even been given opportunity from an administrator in a previous edit warring issue to undo one of your edits so they could see you're editing in good faith. You have been given additional opportunities since to undo your edits, but it is clear you are not and therefore, your edits have been repeatedly disruptive. You will be given one last opportunity to cooperate with other editors, and discuss your changes on the appropriate talk pages, or this will be referred to the administrators again, who will be informed that you have not been acting in good faith. And please do not keep resubmitting rejected edits; discuss it with the editor(s) who have reverted you. MPFitz1968 ( talk) 06:54, 1 September 2015 (UTC) reply

Sockpuppet investigation

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jmichelson27, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
