Slovene municipalities: the rename of the articles

Hi, JelgavaLV. At my talk page, Doremo has asked me for input regarding your recent renames of the titles of articles about the Slovene municipalities (see User talk:Eleassar#Slovene municipality names). I think that you should have gained a broader community consensus before changing so many pages in spite of the arguments made for the original style, and have recommended him to post a request for comment. I've posted the entire reply at my talk page. Regards, -- Eleassar my talk 08:00, 22 March 2013 (UTC) reply

I changed it back to the original style and before I did you said you are fine with the style change proposed by me [1]. JelgavaLV ( talk) 07:15, 24 March 2013 (UTC) reply
I have no objection to the style change, but the question concerns a number of articles and a wider community may disagree. A change without input of other potentially interested editors may therefore lead to back-and-forth changes. An opinion survey is in place before it takes place. -- Eleassar my talk 09:25, 24 March 2013 (UTC) reply
There was no survey for the eliminations carried out by Doremo. I thought after you said you are fine with the change there would be no objection (beside Doremo, but he may go on until his death with saying it is "intuitively wrong"), because no user came into the discussion and e.g. Yerpo used the format I proposed long a ago anyway. I thought it is a no-brainer to carry it out. Now "X Statistical Region", "X District" (Ljubljana) and all the "X Whatever", including "X Municipality" from other WikiProjects agree in the format. And Commons only differs in capitalization. I agree that back-and-forth changes are evil, and if I had known my changes are not welcome at that point in time, I would not have performed them. See Talk:Gmina where I did not carry out any changes. I hope we can solve all issues at Talk:Municipalities of Slovenia#Consensus building and halt of changes. I halted changes, and do not plan to resume until I get your complete and explicit OK to start working. JelgavaLV ( talk) 09:43, 24 March 2013 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. -- MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC) reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Lo dicono a Signa. 09:11, 6 November 2016 (UTC) reply
