First, thank you for working on Japanese photographers who are little known among people who don't happen to read Japanese -- photographers who are neither celebrities nor currently fashionable.

WorldCat is a wonderful concept, but in reality it's rather a mess. If you look up a particular edition of a particular book in it, you often find half a dozen or more entries. One or two of them may be both informative and error-free, if you're lucky. If a book has an ISBN, then adding an OCLC number is usually pointless (unless you hope to steer the reader away from the defective entries and towards a/the good one). As I suppose you know, OCLC numbers are almost useless within Japan, and if there's no ISBN for a Japanese book (and if I have the energy), I like to add both a/the OCLC number and the NCID. (You'll see this combination in the article Teikō Shiotani, for example.) I avoid linking to either an OCLC number or an NCID in a way that might suggest to the reader that the book (and not just a description of it) will be available simply by clicking their mouse.
