Category:Forts in the Dominican Repulic

Hello, Mayimbe!

Thanks for your contribs.

Take another look at that category's title: it's missing a "b"!

Just create a new one and move the articles into it. The old one will be deleted soon.

Hasta luego. SamEV ( talk) 04:06, 27 July 2010 (UTC) reply

No problem. I just placed it a category. There are probably others that apply.

Baluarte Del Conde, Dominican Republic

Hi!

The article needs to be moved, because it's "del", not "Del", and "Dominican Republic" isn't actually necessary, as there's no naming conflict. (If we're to keep "Dominican Republic" in the title, it should be in paretheses, for something called the pipe trick.) But don't move it yet, because we have to resolve whether to keep "Baluarte" or go back to "La Puerta". Why did you change "La Puerta" to "Baluarte"? SamEV ( talk) 07:38, 30 July 2010 (UTC) reply

What I was getting at is that "Puerta" is by far the more common name, and thus the name we should use, per Wikipedia's naming conventions (see WP:UCN).

I'm not proposing any change to the content. You did a fine job.

Thank *you* for your work. I can only hope you keep at it for years.

About the Altar article, yes, it should be renamed to take advantage of the pipe trick. SamEV ( talk) 23:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC) reply

I moved and edited both articles. Take a look at Puerta del Conde and let me know what you think. If you changed your mind about the rename, let me know. I actually had some second thoughts. I considered that maybe there could be an article about the Baluarte and a separate one about the Puerta. SamEV ( talk) 01:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC) reply

All right.

Are the Parque Nacional and the Parque Independencia two separate parks? SamEV ( talk) 21:30, 31 July 2010 (UTC) reply

B.D. Wong and reverting vandalism

If you want to revert a whole whack of vandalism, you can do the following:

 1. Go to the article's "History" tab
 2. Click on the date/time of the last edit before the vandalism
 3. When that clean version comes up, click "Edit" (there will be a note reminding you that you are editing an older version, but that is what you want to do)
 4. Write something in the edit summary, like "Removing vandalism" or "Reverting to last clean version"
 5. Click "Save page"

I've already done this for the B.D. Wong article. Hope this helps. ... discospinster talk 03:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I Love Wikipedia

There is no better thing on the web than Wikipedia!!!

I just wish there were less vandals!!! I imagine they must be young (or young minded), immature, useless, bored, individuals.

Headers

Hey!

We capitalize the first word of a header; the other words are in lower case, unless they're proper names. So, for example, it's "Government and politics", not "Government and Politics". Header levels 2 and 4 (i.e. == and ====) aren't the only ones; there's also level 3 (===), for example. SamEV ( talk) 04:58, 4 August 2010 (UTC); 20:08, 7 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I have added the same basic categories that I used in the other boroughs. Thanks for making the category. I will also create a category for schools in Queens as done in the other boroughs. To do this for another category, just copy the categories at the bottom of a category that is like yours and change it to reflect your category, like Queens. Categorizing Commons files

Hi there El Mayimbe, just a note, if a file is being hosted at Commons, it should be categorized there, not here on Wikipedia. Categorizing images here makes the page eligible for speedy deletion under F2. Thank you. — ξ xplicit 05:05, 7 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Editor 24.190.x.x

That person has done tremendous damage around here. We've basically been adviced to assume bad faith when we encounter him (I think it's a guy, but I'm not sure), as the admins who've dealt with him refuse to block the IP for fear of blocking others.

In particular, he likes to change Dominican population figures to numbers *completely* made up by him. And he's made up flags for all kinds of Dominican jurisdictions. He's apparently invented names for beauty pageant contestants. And so on. He's a disaster. Almost certainly demented. So don't be hesitant to revert him. SamEV ( talk) 03:33, 25 October 2010 (UTC) reply

It was the first time I encountered him so I just reverted some minor things to not be to aggressive. But now that I know, I'll be more vigilant. Thx.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 03:40, 25 October 2010 (UTC) reply
They blocked his accounts User:MRDU08 and User:MRDU09 over a year ago, but he kept editing with IP addresses and occassionally creates a new user name, too.
He made a valuable editor, Jmarcano, who's a Dominican geographer, quit regular editing in disgust. SamEV ( talk) 03:55, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Your contributed article, Manuel José Jimenes González

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Manuel José Jimenes González. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - :. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at : - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding hang on to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. El Mayimbe ( talk) 03:39, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply

"hato"

Hey, would you please check again to make sure that "Hato" in "Hato Mayor del Rey" was being used in the sense of "herd"? I ask that because in American Spanish the word can also mean "cattle ranch", which I think would have made more sense as a toponym. Hato Mayor could thus have gotten its name because it was the biggest royal cattle ranch in the region. SamEV ( talk) 03:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply

No, your correct but for some reason I put herd????? Go figure. Literally it means Herd yet given context it should be Ranch. Although that word really isn't used anymore. I'll change it.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 04:03, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
Thanks.
On a different subject: is that section just above this one an accident? SamEV ( talk) 05:21, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
Yeah, it was spelled differently Manuel Jiménes rather than Manuel Jimenes and it wasn't listed in the disambiguation page. So I thought it just wasn't there, until I looked at the list of Presidents of the Dominican Republic. although in the es page it is the latter rather than the former. Sorry for keeping you busy but yeah that page I created has to be deleted.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 05:25, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
All right. I thought that maybe you'd created that section by accident. SamEV ( talk) 05:31, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
No, no it was intentional but as soon as I noticed that a page already existed, I nominated it for speedy deletion. That is what I'm suppose to do, no?
P.S. do you know the Puerto Rican flag template???
for example cuba is {Cub}, D.R. {dom}, haiti, {Hai}.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 05:35, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply
Oh, I see. The speedy delete template goes in the article itself, not here.
The PR flag template is PUR. There's also Puerto Rico. SamEV ( talk) 06:01, 26 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update.

Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join!

Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive.

Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs cleanup, wikify, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Thanks very much for participating in the Drive, and see you at the finish line!

GOCE Drive – Final push

Greetings GOCE Backlog elimination drive participant, We are now coming up to the last few days of the drive, the last for 2010. Currently, it looks like we will achieve our target for reducing the backlog by 10%, however, we still have huge numbers for 2009. We have 55 participants in this drive. If everyone just clears 2 articles each, we will reduce the backlog by a further 110 articles. If everyone can just do 3 articles, we will hit 165. If you have yet to work on any articles and have rollover words, remember that you do need to copyedit at least a couple of articles in this drive for your previous rollover to be valid for the next drive. There are many very small articles that will take less than 5-10 minutes to copyedit. Use CatScan to find them. Let's all concentrate our firepower on the first three months of 2009 as we approach the end of this final drive for the year. Thank you once again for participating, and see you at the finish line! – SMasters ( talk) 04:08, 25 November 2010 (UTC) reply

We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated.

Stats

GOCE November 2010 backlog elimination drive graphs
 • 58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive.
 • Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%.
 • 49 awards will go out to 33 of 48 participants. Check out the complete list of barnstar winners here.

Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

Our next drive is scheduled for January 2011. In the meantime, please consider helping out at the Wikification drive or any of the other places where help with backlogs is needed.

The article List of Dominican films has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTDIRECTORY

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.

Statistics
 • 54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated.
 • One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%.
 • Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue.
 • Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here.
Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

¿Trato?

Hello Mayimbe!

I'd like to make a deal with you. How about we do a DR-related improvement drive until the 27th, at minimum of the articles about the provinces? I propose that we each improve one of their articles per day. SamEV ( talk) 20:45, 9 February 2011 (UTC) reply

SamEV,
I would love to, but unfortunately my studies consume me. That is not to say that I will not help, but rather, not commit to such a goal of an article a day. I admit setting goals are great, but for me it not feasible now. Yet I will try my best, I hope I have not upset or disappointed you. Also, I am glad there are people like you in Wikipedia!!! I will continue contributing as best I can, thank you. -- El Mayimbe ( talk) 01:10, 10 February 2011 (UTC) reply
Also SamEV, do you just go to the Dominican Republic page and see what links there and go down the list?-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 01:15, 10 February 2011 (UTC) reply
Oh, this is an unexpectely quick response. I almost took for granted that you might be away for a few days.
Yeah, I'm disappointed, but I'm also glad about the reason. Good luck with your studies.
Not to be pushy, but if you can handle an article a week, I'd take that. We'd be done with the provinces by the end of spring. BTW, of course I could undertake that drive on my own, but it would come to a halt quickly, as have other attempts I've made. :( But under no circumstances should you commit to a 1/week pace either, if you don't have the time. The truth is that I don't really have that much time myself; much of the time I spend at WP is sort of 'stolen' from real work I should be doing, hehe.
About WhatLinksHere, no, I don't use it. If you're suggesting that I should, well, I may someday, if I can't think of important articles to edit, I suppose.
Well, have a nice weekend. SamEV ( talk) 02:03, 11 February 2011 (UTC) reply

The goals of this backlog elimination drive are to eliminate as many articles as possible from the 2009 backlog and to reduce the overall backlog by 15%. ! NEW ! GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Carlos Beltrán, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. –  Muboshgu ( talk) 03:35, 28 July 2011 (UTC) reply

The information in the userbox is usually not cited, unless there are figures i.e. statistics like in country info boxes. My next edit included written text with a reference from ESPN, yet you had already undone my previous edits ergo I couldn't save my following edits in the body of the article. And it is official, he (beltran) said yes, he didn't play on Wednesday with the Mets and he will be joining the Giants in Philadelphia, but whatever no biggie someone else maybe even yourself will correct it soon.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 04:11, 28 July 2011 (UTC) reply
Just being a neutral party. MLB has a rule that players with no-trade clauses in their contract cannot be officially traded until 24 hours after the player approves the deal. All the parameters of the trade were made yesterday, and Beltran signed off on the deal yesterday. However, the rule was put in place in case a player felt like he made a rash decision in approving a trade. Officially, he is on the Mets right now. By game time tonight, he should be on the Giants and then it can be changed. Hope this helps shed a little light. Kjscotte34 ( talk) 11:02, 28 July 2011 (UTC) reply
Yup, I am aware the 30/10 rule, 30 years of age/10 years of service, thing is he okayed the trade, the 30/10 offers protection to players not teams. So the two teams agreed to a deal on Tuesday, Beltran okayed it yesterday when I made the changes, at least that was when the ESPN article came out. So that would make it official he even sat out the game, but its all semantics, it doesn't really matter when wikipedia is changed so long as it is correct, after all wikipedia is fluid and dynamic. Regardless, thank you for your input and I will ensure to be more patient.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 23:32, 28 July 2011 (UTC) reply

St. Francis College Terriers men's soccer

Please do not persist with creating a duplicate article. The original article is at St. Francis Terriers and can be expanded there. If you believe that the name is wrong then propose a renaming of the original article. Wikipedia policy precludes the existence of more than one article about the same specific subject. Thank you .   Velella   Velella Talk   23:38, 31 October 2011 (UTC) reply

I am not persisting in creating a duplicate. I am creating a new article. The St. Francis Terriers article generally lists the sports of the school. I am creating a wholly different article dedicated to the men's soccer team, as was done with the men's basketball team. Thank you for your feedback.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 00:32, 1 November 2011 (UTC) reply
Additionally, you did not have to delete content that I had on the page, to create the redirect, so I am not sure what your agenda is. Granted I can still access it through the history. Yet, I hope this can be resolved cordially.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 00:37, 1 November 2011 (UTC) reply
My only other option would be to seek deletion which would have lost everything including the history. The article as you last left it after 28 edits made no assertions as to notability and had no references, but was clearly an ordinary college soccer team. The article at St. Francis Terriers had more relevant content about soccer but that too was unreferenced (OK , it has an internal reference but that just doesn't count when it comes to notability on Wikipedia). Both articles are potential subjects for AFD unless they are supported by robust external references which clearly demonstrate notability. I would strongly recommend creating any new articles of this nature in User-space and only when all the material is assembled, then create the new article. As an aside, I don't have any agenda; I don't know the college or know of it; I have never been to the east coast of the USA; I am neither Catholic nor anti-catholic; I am neither for nor against soccer - what sort of agenda were you alluding to? Please do take care in making statements that might be misconstrued.   Velella   Velella Talk   15:51, 1 November 2011 (UTC) reply
I acknowledge the effort that you have put in to get this article into some sort of shape. However, I can still see no references that give any notability to the article. Although there are plenty of references, they are mostly internal references or directory type references and not the sort that Wikipedia relies on to establish notability. I strongly suggest that you re-visit the notability guidelines linked in my previous comment or risk seeing all your hard work dissapear. Regards.   Velella   Velella Talk   10:02, 3 November 2011 (UTC) reply
The NCAA is a verifiable secondary source as is the NEC website. The primary source would be SFCathletics. As it stands I have 1 SFCathletics reference and 10 NCAA and NEC references. Additionally, I can mine news websites for articles such as the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, the New York Times or the New York Daily news. Yet, Wikipedia is collaborative and others can contribute to that end. Clearly the references I give are secondary and reputable, the facts are the facts. The team has won various conference and tournament championships and has additionally made it to the NCAA tournament several times. I have done my part in establishing the page, in disseminating knowledge about the program, and in the process made corrections to the college soccer team infobox, and contributed to the NEC standings template. As a contributor I have done my part and would like to continue to do so. What you could perhaps do is contribute rather than stifle. Telling me that the work will disappear is not contributing to the improvement of Wikipedia. Additionally, when I began the page you immediately dismissed it as a duplicate even though I made it very clear to you what my intentions were.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 17:48, 3 November 2011 (UTC) reply
Also, if you would like to see what similar pages look like, here is a sampling, please visit them:

Above is a small sampling, what you will find is either no references or only primary sources.

Accepted - but the failings of other articles doesn't provide any legitimacy for a new article. My guess is that they are all at risk of AFD. Sorry.   Velella   Velella Talk   19:54, 3 November 2011 (UTC) reply
No they are not at risk of deletion. They are in need of updating, referencing and overall editing to improve them. The knowledge they disseminate is still valuable and chances are, not false. What you are seeing when you go to those links is a snap shot of information, that tomorrow or the day after may be completely "fixed" by a willing contributor. Thus, rather than deleting the page you should instead place a Refimprove or place it in the [ articles needing attention] not threaten deletion of someones work.-- El Mayimbe ( talk) 22:55, 3 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Hello El Mayimbe
There has been some major editing (mostly deleting: ≈ 45K down to 32K) to this article by a new(?) editor. They seem rather POV especially from the edit summaries used, eg. "Superfluous, outdated, slanted data from 2007. .... I know because I moved here precisely in 2007 at the beginning of the gentrification". I left messages for the editor on their talk, but got no response. As you are a major contributor to Bushwick, Brooklyn I thought you might like to take a look to check their validity? Formal mediation has been requested

The
Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Hispaniola". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation.
Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the
request page, the
formal mediation policy, and the
guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 6 December 2011.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Page titles

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Pope Physical Education Center a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Generoso Pope Athletic Complex. This is known as a " cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Spanish Haiti PROD

¿Cómo estás, Mayimbe?

I can't find the PROD discussion. Is there one? I'm not sure, because my inactivity has made me rusty about WP processes, but I think there's supposed to be an autogenerated AfD entry when you add the PROD tag. If not, then it has to be created manually (by the PROD-der?).

The fact is I'm conflicted. The user who started those articles (I can't distinguish clearly between them) is a banned one who shouldn't have been editing. And more relevantly, he seems to HATE Dominicans. I wouldn't mind at all if his articles were deleted and recreated by other users. SamEV ( talk) 20:04, 1 September 2012 (UTC) reply

The article Germán Rosario has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable player. Appears to fail WP:BASEBALL/N.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Bashir Mason requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2014 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2013 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot ( talk) 07:36, 1 October 2013 (UTC) reply

I see where you created and the NJIT team article. The Great West Conference folded at the end of the 2012–13 sports year due to the NCAA realignment. This is where the following former GWC schools will be for the 2013–14 basketball season:

 • NJIT – Independent
 • Chicago State, Utah Valley, & Texas–Pan American – WAC
 • Houston Baptist – Southland

Can you please add userreq to the top of the Great West standings template you made? It will have an admin come and delete it fairly quickly without having to go through the process of a formal TfD. Jrcla2 ( talk) 19:35, 9 October 2013 (UTC) reply

1959–60 St. Francis Terriers men's basketball team

Hey just an FYI, I created 1959–60 NYU Violets men's basketball team last week, so I also created . St. Francis was in that conference that season, so if you're interested in creating a random SFU article, the standings template already exists. Jrcla2 ( talk) 15:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC) reply

El Mayimbe, I do sometimes have trouble distinguishing when factual commentary is appropriate vs. when it will be taken as an insult. I certainly intended the former, not the latter. The edit — regardless of who made by — was easily verifiable, so in my view, a knee-jerk revert was a bit lazy on your part and, inasmuch as it deprived the section of a pertinent fact, destructive. Your feelings of ownership are really not relevant. Cheers. Woodshed ( talk) 23:10, 6 May 2014 (UTC) reply

Proposed deletion of 2016–17 St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men's basketball team

The article 2016–17 St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers men's basketball team has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON. This season is a year away and the articles contains almost no information.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 00:24, 7 November 2015 (UTC) reply

NEC records

I update all 24 DI men's soccer conference records/standings daily, also changing the "As of..." date as I do so... If you go in and make changes without changing the date, and I come in after you, errors WILL result, because I am looking at the scoreboard of the day's games and will add a win, loss, or tie for each team in the conference that played a game that day... I will generally look at the records only after going through all of the changes to all 24 conference before updating the Infobox at the top of the page...I have been doing this for several years, so there is no need for you to be making changes without also changing the date... If you feel that you absolutely HAVE to make changes on the NEC, please change the "As of..." date when you do, and I might notice that you have already updated... Thanx for trying... It's not a direct copy/paste. The text is different 14/50 words are not the same (I don't quite know if perhaps 25/50) makes it not a copyright problem(?). File source problem with File:Tandem Van de Graaf.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Tandem Van de Graaf.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Access dates

When copying a ref cite from one article to another, please remember to change the accessdate on the new cite... If an article was only created in May 2019, a cite could not have been accessed for it in October 2016... LOL... ;) GWFrog ( talk) 01:30, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply

LIU Blackbirds men's basketball

As I indicated before, the LIU Sharks are not the same as the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds. On July 1, the Blackbirds, as well as the LIU Post Pioneers, will become history. The LIU Sharks pages are essentially for the future. This is akin to when the Big East Conference had the major shakeup in 2013, and the old article became Big East Conference (1979–2013), while a new Big East Conference page was created for the ongoing organization. Thus, I reverted the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds men's basketball page to what was there before. GWFrog ( talk) 20:55, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply

That makes perfect sense, didn't get around to changing it back after consulting you. Thanks for fixing my mess! El Mayimbe ( talk) 20:57, 22 May 2019 (UTC) reply
Since it was stated that no teams will be dropped, I am presuming that men's cross country will move from Post to Brooklyn... So I put it back in the article GWFrog ( talk) 23:25, 23 May 2019 (UTC) reply

I don't believe I am the individual who added the copyrighted information. I did copyedits to material that was added and asked that references be added to information presented. The blurb about personal life was added by user Gabterrier, now looking at the https://www.kingscountypolitics.com article it is clear that is was added from there directly- yet that was not me. The file File:SFC New Logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot ( talk) 01:02, 14 April 2020 (UTC) reply

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2013 Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Hi there, as per recent consensus here and here, these tournaments were deleted and redirected to the main article. I have done the same with the tournament articles for the other years for now as none of them have any independent sources either. The history for the other tournaments have been retained should there be any content that might be worth merging to the main article. Thanks.
