Tampa Bay Rays vs Tampa Bay Devil Rays

The consensus has been reached that players who played for the Devil Rays before the name change will have their articles state that they played for the Devil Rays and not the Rays. You can read the discussion here. -- Rabbethan 17:45, 10 December 2007 (UTC) reply

Player numbers

For the player numbers, I suggest you not take them from ESPN. They are inaccurate and when they add signed free agents to the roster, they will usually intially put up their old number. -- Street20 03:50, 11 December 2007 (UTC) reply

I saw your question on Template:Oakland Athleticsabout the v/d/e on a table. Certain template styles (like Template:navbox) have them included, or you can add Template:Tnavbar-header to insert them "manually". Hope this helps.

The edit link points to the name of the template as specified in the template. So, the location indicated in the temp must be the acutal location of the temp. Hope this helps. Your controversial edits

Some of the stuff that you edit is wrong.
Let me just give some examples: You made an edit to Manny Ramírez which said that he was born in the Bronx when he was actually born in the Dominican Republic, which I reverted as vandalism. In the case of Josh Towers, he has not finalized his contract and the only things that we put in the roster templates are official. Not finalizing his contract is not official. In the case of adding numbers, you kept saying that Guillermo Mota was going to be #53, turns out he took #58. Other examples include saying that Geoff Geary was going to take #56 when he took #29 and José Castillo taking number #15 when he took #13. Some other edits that you do, like to the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, and Tampa Bay Rays roster templates, is to delete the space between players who go by their initials, for example J. R. Towles. You would constantly change J. R. Towles into J.R. Towles and we would constantly change it back yet you insisted on reverting our edits back. In the case of infoboxes, you kept adding multiple positions so you would make the link invalid, which is why we added another part to the infobox so you can put in multiple positions without having any problems. Yet after we did this, you still added multiple positions to 'position' after you already learned that we added the 'positionplain' section to the infobox. I also just reverted your edit that you made to Template:Kansas City Royals roster in which you put Billy Butler as a designated hitter yet you should of have already learned that we strictly follow MLB.com when it comes to players positions. This is why when you put Ryan Braun in the list of outfielders in Template:Milwaukee Brewers roster, it was reverted. Other stuff that you do was to constantly change the colors in the roster templates even after we told you not to do it. The colors have already been established and there is no reason for you to change it. - Street20 22:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC) reply
Wikipedia's style is that there is a space between initials. I personally hate it, but that's the way it is.► Chris Nelson Holla! 01:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Hello. I reverted your edits to {{ Pirates}} and moved it back to the original place (you moved it to Famouse Pirates). If you are moving something, you first need to ask for consensus on the Talk page. Also the Pittsburgh Pirates do not need that space. There is already a template for Pittsburgh Pirates at {{ MLB_Pirates_franchise}}. Please don't "correct" talk pages

When someone makes a comment on a talk page, other editors should leave it alone except in cases where the comment violates policy, and even then, they need to mark the change. In response to what you said on my talk page, I didn't delete them, I re-hid them like Street20 had done. We (Chris Nelson, Street20, JustSomeRandomGuy32, Yankees10, myself, and others) have told you several times that the edits you were making to those and other pages needed to be sourced and about how you would go along with such a thing, but even after two months of having to revert numerous edits, a good number of them wrong, you have yet to grasp the concept that you need to check your sources before you make edits. So what I did is not "messed up", as you put it. Quite the opposite, I had to un-mess up what you have been doing despite what everyone has been telling you. -- Rabbethan 03:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Bilde.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Bilde.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{ non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{ hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Bilde.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. I was deleting OLD INFO. For example, the page had some 2007 stats and 2008, but after 2008 is finished, no more need for 2007. It's just extra. Please unblock me. I never meant to ruin or damage anything. I was doing what I thought was right. Wiki is about CURRENT info, and I was making it current.

Decline reason:

That is patently not true. The Cleanup hitter article was cited to sources published in August of 2008; you changed the article entirely, changing many players, without explanation. In other cases, you simply deleted the sources with no explanation at all. You have been told many times to add sources to any changes you make. That you repeatedly refused to do so shows me that you have little desire to abide by Wikipedia policies. Also, please do not make any more unblock requests. Template:Infobox MLB Retired

Please do not add this template to any more articles. The template's use is deprecated, and the link is now only a redirect to the MLB Player template. Thank you. - Dewelar ( talk) 18:03, 22 January 2009 (UTC) reply

OK, here's what I mean above. The term "deprecated" is used to refer to something that used to be used, but isn't any more because it's been replaced by something else. A couple months ago, the folks over at WikiProject Baseball decided that having separate infoboxes for active and retired players was no longer necessary. One of the members combined the information used in the two boxes and made it into one box, which is Template:Infobox MLB player. Since there are a lot of old articles (over 4,000 right now) that still use the old version, the old page was left up as a redirect to the new one. If a player is no longer active, all you have to do is delete the "team=" line (not debutteam or finalteam, but the one that's just "team") and the "number=", and that will remove the colors from the box, and the line with his current team, and it will look just like the old retired box.
Does that help? - Dewelar ( talk) 19:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC) reply
I've been working on changing them, but since I don't know how to use bots I'm doing it all by hand. If you want to do some yourself, go ahead, just make sure you're only changing players that are actually retired.
As far as the MLBprimarycolor thing, I don't actually know where those are located. You might want to ask over at the WikiProject Baseball talk page. - Dewelar ( talk) 19:47, 22 January 2009 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Juan Carlos Oviedo, without good reason. Replaceable fair use File:NewMarlinsStadium.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:NewMarlinsStadium.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{ di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof ( talk) 07:45, 3 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Roster Numbers

Just to let you know, my "Source it or stop" edit summary was directed at the IP address who continuously changed the date (and is now blocked) of the rosters without making any changes. As for the numbers issue, I'm citing WP:OSE. Just because other people cite Twitter, doesn't mean they should! File permission problem with File:Solset Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Solset Logo.jpg, which you've sourced to Juan Cedeno. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{ OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

Non-free use of File:Solset Logo.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Solset Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{ di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 ( talk) 15:04, 25 January 2013 (UTC) reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Solset Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Solset Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot ( talk) 04:18, 26 January 2013 (UTC) reply

I resubmitted it for you, but I still don't think you're even close to an acceptable submission. I also restored the previous decline messages; please don't remove those. They will go away once the article is actually created. You still have major referencing problems though. You need some references that prove notability. Solset needs to have been covered in significant detail by multiple reliable sources. As an example, your reference to the main page of ripeando.com doesn't even mention Solset as far as I can tell. What information are you trying to support there? Outside of the referencing, the language could use some work. There are lots of opinion statements that aren't appropriate for an encyclopedia (ex: "striving to expand", "quickly learned how to adapt well", "must have a knowledgeable and customer-oriented design staff..."). If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot ( talk) 01:34, 14 June 2014 (UTC) reply

Hello Dshibshm. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled " Solset Eco Inc.".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Solset Eco Inc.}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot ( talk) 22:00, 16 July 2014 (UTC) reply

Your recent editing history at Miami Marlins shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Image without license

Unspecified source/license for File:New Marlins Uniforms.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:New Marlins Uniforms.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{ PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{ self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. -- MifterBot ( TalkContribsOwner) 07:00, 17 November 2018 (UTC) reply

A tag has been placed on File:New Marlins Uniforms.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on File:Cleveland Indians uniforms.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

Jose Fernandez number retirement

Please stop reverting edits that take Jose Fernandez' number out of the Miami Marlins info box. The number, while it has not been worn by another player since his death, has not officially been retired by the team. The team's owner has stated an intent to do so, but it has not yet officially been done. Therefore, we do not list it in the team's article. Strikerforce Talk 14:52, 10 December 2018 (UTC) reply

The Mandela Effect (movie) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, The Mandela Effect (movie), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.   I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  ( talk to me) ( My edits) @ 06:54, 18 January 2020 (UTC) reply

  • You can lodge a request to have the draft article restored here. The key issue is that in the draft you have cut and paste text directly from a source - which is a copyright infringement. Something that is strictly enforced on Wikipedia. If you are granted permission to have the draft article restored you will need to remove all the copyrighted material or face the article being deleted again. File permission problem with File:Mandela Effect Movie Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Mandela Effect Movie Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Animalparty!
