nowrap

Greetings, nowrap is included in the 2020 infobox update. It is needed to prevent a line break. It has no effect on the appearance on a mobile device, the line break will show on a mobile device with or without the nowrap. Thanks BlueboyLINY ( talk) 23:16, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Not from my experience. On my Android phone, the nowrap prevents text from wrapping from within the Wikipedia app. This will result in either cut off or misaligned text. Only when the browser is used on the mobile site, the nowrap is ignore. -- DrChuck68 ( talk) 23:24, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Interesting, I've never used the app, however on my iPhone I've not noticed any discernible difference in the Safari browser. Perhaps @ Raymie: would be willing to weigh-in on this matter. BlueboyLINY ( talk) 05:24, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

I'm a little confused as to what's being asked. Can you give me a bit more context? It seems to have to do with WSHU-FM. Raymie ( tc) 05:41, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Specifically, it's the use of {{ nowrap}} within {{ Infobox radio station}}, and how it's rendered in the browser versus the mobile app. Normally, nowrap will prevent words from wrapping to the next line. When nowrap is used with one of the infobox parameters, the text is not wrapped in the desktop version of Wikipedia. If the mobile version is opened in a browser (iOS Safari or Android Chrome) the nowrap is ignored and the text wraps. However, when the mobile app is used, I've found that the nowrap doesn't wrap the text, as opposed to ignoring it, resulting in misaligned or cut off text. As an example, look at the translator in the infobox of the WPTY article in a browser: desktop version in browser, mobile version in browser then look at the article/infobox in the Android or iPhone mobile app on a phone. On my Android app, the translator does not wrap, and text is both cut off and misaligned.
You've recently done work on the infobox. Did that include any updates to how nowrap behaves in the infobox? According to the nowrap documentation, it's using the nowrap CSS class to prevent text wrapping. -- DrChuck68 ( talk) 01:57, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
It did not. Maybe take this to WP:VPT where more knowledgeable contributors might lurk? Raymie ( tc) 03:04, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I'll do that. This may be something that the app developers have overlooked. -- DrChuck68 ( talk) 12:37, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

WPTY-HD

Technically HD1 is the main channel, so the stations legal id would be "WPTY, WPTY-HD, Calverton-Roanoke New York", HD2 etc are the subchannels. In my opinion, "HD1: WPTY analog", is confusing to the reader who knows nothing about radio broadcasting. I've changed it to simulcast, which I think is less confusing to the reader. This should be discussed on the talk page to reach a consensus with other editors. Regards, BlueboyLINY ( talk) 05:15, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

I've added a discussion topic to the {{ Infobox radio station}} talk page here. -- DrChuck68 ( talk) 12:54, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
