Took steps that stopped an editing war involving the spelling of the subject's name. Kiwatts ( talk) 14:29, 9 January 2024 (UTC) |
Under the B-class criteria, the article needs two more citations at the end of "The straits separated the islands of Honshū and Kyūshū, providing a passage between the Seto Inland Sea and the Sea of Japan" and "Despite retaliatory actions from the treaty partners, another attack occurred in July 1864, when rebels fired upon the US steamer Monitor." I will wait rather than immediately assess the article as C-class. I realize that the first sentence is probably verified in the articles but the criteria require a citation at the end of each paragraph for facts stated after the previous citation. If you can provide citations for the two sentences, I will assess the article as B-class. Good work. Thanks. Donner60 ( talk) 05:28, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
I have put a brief message on the request for assessment page. If someone thinks this is a completed assessment and deletes it, please relist it if you add the two citations or ping me and I will assess it as B class. If you wish to leave it as is, let me know and I will rate it C. Thanks. Donner60 ( talk) 07:38, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for all your work on the article! The new Connell interview is a great insight into what went down, but I do think it's better used to flesh out the timeline of events, than to run as a duplicated sidebar to it. The other stuff he was saying was colourful but I'm not sure it added that much to the article, the basic wonderland/warehouse disjunct is already very vivid, I think, without Connell repeating his perspective on it.
Let me know if you think I'm pushing back too much on this! Belbury ( talk) 19:27, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi.
In regard to my minor edits that you reverted, I left what you did in place, but:
The first comma you re-introduced is unnecessary. It separates an independent clause prior to the comma and a dangling phrase after the comma. If the piece after the comma started with "and he took" instead of just "and took", then the comma would be fine.
The second comma you re-introduced is also unnecessary and interrupts the flow of the text. It's after a single two-word prepositional phrase ("In 1911") and is not needed.
In the clause "each of his sons was|were heading off to college", the subject is "each" (singular), not "sons" (plural). So the verb should be "was". The word "sons" is the object of a preposition, and that can never be a subject.
And I changed "antisemitic" to "anti-Semitic" on the recommendation of the Wikipedia editor itself. The word "antisemitic" was underlined in red (as it is now as I'm typing this) with "anti-Semitic" being the recommended change. Venango ( talk) 14:19, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi, Thank you for your help in the Tearoom. I see you are interested in videogames, and I wondered if you might extend that interest to electronic literature. Some of our works are based on or told through video games, so it is a "next door" field. We have a new project page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronic literature. I confess, I failed at retirement and have two fullish time gigs now so I have not devoted myself as much as I could to learning how Wikipedia works...
We could really use your help and expertise! Thank you 01:13, 26 March 2024 (UTC) LoveElectronicLiterature ( talk) 01:13, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
