Shymkent/Chimkent

I understand your editing, and I don't want to engage in an edit war of any kind. That being said, I have posted a response on the Shymkent talk page, listing my statement that since there is no citation required for the current text, why would one be required to change it (in my view, actually correcting it). I understand the rules of Wikipedia, especially regarding Original Research. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer near Shymkent for over 2 years, and I could write a lot more about the city if not for my understanding on the evils of Original Unpublished Research. And yet, I don't like to see Shymkent's page doing nothing more than reflecting the first person that edited it, pushing only one side of a controversy. Controversial is the term to use whenever discussing the relationship between Uzbeks and Kazakhs, especially at their border cities.

Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Kazakhstan (disambiguation). Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Coat of arms of Kazakhstan

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Coat of arms of Kazakhstan, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The text you included is not idiomatic English and it spoils the article. Perhaps you could have an English-speaking friend clean up what you want to add. Kazakhstan topics

I made the change to {{ Kazakhstan topics}} so it would auto collapse like the other navboxes used in Kazakhstan and other uses. --—  Gadget850 (Ed)  talk - 12:56, 26 March 2008 (UTC) reply

Kazakh districts

HI if you are planning on starting the Kazakh raions see Districts of Kyrgyzstan which I did. The maker of the maps unfortunately has been away for a month, otherwise I caould ask him to create some for Kazakhstan too. If you could follow the style ofr Kyrgyzstan using the infobox settlmeent this would be great. I woudl suggest creating a template like Template:Districts of Kyrgyzstan too. Ok. I don't have time right now, but I will do it soon. BernardTom ( talk) 19:32, 18 April 2008 (UTC) reply

I've begun drawing up Template:Districts of Kazakhstan. I'll try to get it completed tomorrow ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:16, 18 April 2008 (UTC) reply

I spent absolutely ages drawing up that. Put it back in the articles please -the template was set at closed anyway. It is very useful to link all districts in the country together. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:36, 26 April 2008 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure about this idia. What's the point to put big, awkward template table in each article? I spend time recreating the district with local names and the administrative centres (belive me, corrections take longer time than just creating an article with ONE unique name of the district) and templates for each (!) Province. I also added these templates to province and city articles. Now it's more useful - one can see all info related to the province! The other information about districts of Kazakhstan (actually, I will put some tables) can be found in in the main article: Districts of Kazakhstan. BernardTom ( talk) 20:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC) reply

You added a template in this article which shows only a red link. Otolemur crassicaudatus ( talk) 05:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Terrorism and counter-terrorism in Kazakhstan

Terrorism and counter-terrorism in Kazakhstan belongs somewhere on the Kazakhstan template, but I'm not sure which category it would best fit in (history, government, religion, etc.) - what do you think? Otebig ( talk) 02:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Aitys.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Aitys.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Fut.Perf. 14:04, 6 November 2008 (UTC) reply

NowCommons: File:Aktau port.jpg

File:Aktau port.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Aktau port.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Aktau port.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. File permission problem with File:Shymbylak sight.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Shymbylak sight.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
