Changes I'd make there would be to remove the editorialising words such as "even", "besides" and "notwithstanding"; and break up the long sentence at the end of the second paragraph. Hi Bafflegab, thanks for doing the copy edit of William D. Hoard! It looks great! I did have jsut one question. I noticed you removed the word "the" from in front of the names of newspapers (striking "the" from in front of Jefferson County Daily Union, for example). Those sentences read kind of strangely to me now. I was wondering if you could explain why, more for my own curiosity than anything. Thanks again for taking the time! Hi @ M4V3R1CK32:, thank you; no problem. I usually remove "the" when it's not part of a proper noun; it's often (but not always) unnecessary. Even as a native English speaker, I don't know what the rule is here! I think in this case, "Jefferson County" seems to function as an adjective so we expect to be preceded with "the". But then, "the" could safely be omitted from "Jefferson County Airport", if there was such a place. I agree those sentences do sound strange so I'll go put it back. Thank you so much for guidance in GA. Similar to Govindudu Andarivadele, another GA, I used references to mention "character name mentioned at timestamp" (for names that were mentioned in opening credits). I had to do this for Pasupathy and Freddy Odiyo's character because their names were mentioned in the film (twice for Odiyo who has an important role in terms of plot). I originally had not included Odiyo's name and had wrote that "Pasupathi as a priest" based on this source but that felt wrong because he is not a priest but a church father (head of church) and is referred to as "Father" in the film. Unlike in Hollywood films, this Indian film as many Indian films of that time did not list the names of characters in the end credits. However, I feel that their names can be included with the film itself as a source.

These characters appear multiple times in the film, so I feel that it would not do justice to avoid mentioning their names. They are credited in the film's trailer showing that their role is important. DareshMohan ( talk) 12:32, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

If there are no character names in credits or other printed sources, it should be fine to reference them to the film itself. I'm not familiar with Tamil films of any vintage and I was unaware of the absence of character names in credits, so I'm sorry for any confusion. If the GA reviewer was happy, it is fine to do so. I didn't remember copy-editing that article until I checked the history and found my c/e was almost a year ago now! Hi Baffle gab1978. I know you are a very busy person, but I would like to ask you a favour. Could you have a look at the article Senate Pact 2023, please? I don’t mean copy editing (it’s too soon); I wanted to improve 2 things: refs formatting and the infobox’s Pact members section. As for the latter, I wanted to make "Civic Coalition", "The Left” and "Polish Coalition" collapsible (to allow hiding/showing of their contents) instead of a horizontal list (with brackets), but to keep "Civic Coalition", "New Left" (not: "The Left") and "Polish People’s Party" (not: "Polish Coalition") bold text (i.e., "The Left" and "Polish Coalition" should be still non-bold, regular but collapsible text). Hi @ TaurenMoonlighting:, thanks for your message. I don't know how to get collapsible items in infoboxes as they're not something I've often dealt with. You might be able to do that with the template {{ Hidden}} but that may not work inside an infobox. Help:Collapsing and Help:Infobox may be useful. Perhaps consider a using bulletted list, which might be better in a short article; see Help:List. If you can't find out how to do it, you can ask at the Teahouse or the help desk.

The references in the article are correctly formatted but they should be placed next to the sentence(s) they support rather than at the end of the article; we call this inline referencing.

I am sorry to bother you about a very specific question regarding your usage of the term "Britishers" in your ce of Abdallah Khan. I had never seen this term prior to reading the changes you made and after some very limited Googling now understand that pretty much is the British equivalent to Frenchman. I also do think that the term is very useful in more difficultly structured sentences referring to groups of British individuals. My only concern is that at first I thought it was a typo, and given it archaic nature and obscurity, I worry that it might prove confusing and/or jarring to readers of articles. I am not posting this on the article's talk page because I am not concerned by its specific usage there, I was just curious about potentially getting your opinion on what its acceptable use cases are.

Hi @ MagentaCat1:, thanks for your comment. I questioned myself there as well. It's useful when one wants a one-word demonym, a la Germans, Russians, etc., but "Britons" would also be acceptable. "Englishmen" isn't correct because John Malcolm was Scottish and Gore Ouseley was born in either Ireland or Wales.

Neither the Cambridge nor Merriam-Webster dictionaries flag it as archaic, but according to Collins, it is archaic and not-much-used in British English, but not in American English. There doesn't seem to be a particular national version of English in use in the article, and the subject has no strong ties to any Anglophile nation. Feel free to use "Britons" if you'd prefer. Britons usually refers to those living in Great Britain prior to the Anglo-Saxon invasion, although it can just apply to anyone British I feel it implies someone of more Celtic ancestry and would prove potentially misleading to readers. I do genuinely think you did manage to find the best term given the circumstances, and that the grammatical inconsistencies of demonyms are extremely annoying. Thank you for indulging my inquiry.

Thank you so much for your edits on Jonathan Blow. I feel extremely grateful to have had an elite copy editor through the article with a fine-toothed comb; the result is a significantly better article. I also learned a lot from your edits too, whether it was "a lot of" -> "frequently", or "He looked into the alternatives to C++ at the time" -> He investigated alternative languages", there were so many times where I felt like palm-slapping my head when I saw how much simpler my prose could have been. Thanks too for not simply deleting many of the off-topic sentences but moving them to the talk page; when Jai and the sokoban game get enough media coverage to warrant an article I can just copy the sentences instead of rewriting them again. The Kisan Sabha, which worked for the peasant's cause against the ill effects of landlordism blended with Gandhian Non-cooperation movement during 1920. These peasant castes, who had long tradition of independence and caste solidarity were the one, who provided initial roots to Kisan Sabhas, which became instrumental in supporting peasant cause later. The traditional method of Nai-Dhobi band (disallowing of service of washerman and barbers) to enforce the sanctions on the landlords and use of their robust caste panchayats became a symbol of these peasant movement. Koeri leaders like Mata Badal Koeri became one of the founding leader of Oudh Kisan Sabha (Awadh Farmers Conference) along with Baba Ram Chandra. In the Awadh Kisan Conference of 1920, which was held in Ayodhya, Koeris participated in large numbers.

If you're going to be a copyeditor, please review https://www.iup.edu/writingcenter/writing-resources/punctuation/using-semicolons.html, https://www.ccis.edu/student-life/advising-tutoring/writing-math-tutoring/introduce-quotations, and https://www.grammarly.com/blog/colon-2/. At Common Courtesy (album), Bipartisan Cafe, and Purr Cocktail Lounge, you introduced quotations with semicolons in multiple instances, which is incorrect. A Friend of the Family (miniseries), Jorge Sampaio, and Nicoll Highway collapse also had some misuse and overuse of semicolons, such as where colons are better to introduce closely-related clauses. I precede quotations with a semi-colon because quotations generally rely on the rest of the sentence in which they sit, making the quotation a dependent clause. I also use a semi-colon to link dependent clauses – "The workers are on strike; they want a ten-per-cent pay increase". I use a colon in a sentence with two linked independent clauses that could stand alone as sentences – "My car blew up today: I'll have to walk to work tomorrow". Okay, no, that is wrong. Do not introduce a quotation with a semicolon. I have literally never seen that used before, what style guide are you using?? If you want Wikipedia's guide, please see MOS:QUOTEPUNCT and MOS:SEMICOLON. A semicolon joins two independent clauses, so at According to Oregon Wine Press, "From day one, the café...", "According to Oregon Wine Press" is not an independent clause (it introduces the quotation), so a comma is needed, not a semicolon. Both of your examples here are correct, except in the first one, both "The workers are on strike" and "they want a ten-per-cent pay increase" are independent clauses because they could stand alone.
