Hi Andrew Jameson. Your article on Leo M. Franklin is excellent; I hope you'll consider adding some of that information and anything else you want to Jewish community in Omaha. Great job. • Freechild 'sup? 22:30, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I didn't write any of that, of course. But Highland Park, Michigan and Hamtramck, Michigan are both 'islands within the sea of Detroit', so to speak. I.e., they are cities within Detroit's city limits. So maybe "enclave" might adequately describe them. OTOH, maybe your critique is temporal, not mainly spatial. 7&6=thirteen ( talk) 21:00, 9 January 2008 (UTC) Stan 7&6=thirteen ( talk) 21:23, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Stan

Thank you for uploading Image:Woodward Ave Presbyterian Church.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI ( talk) 19:47, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

The content of
Harry Kelly was cut and pasted into the brand new page
Harry Kelly (politician), and the former page turned into a disambiguation page. That means the page history of the content at
Harry Kelly (politician) is still in the history at
Harry Kelly, without connection between the two. I *think* this needs fixing, but a) I'm not really sure of the policy, and b) I'm not sure how to actually go about "fixing" this.
To be clear, I'm *not* in any way objecting to the existance of the disambiguation, just wondering about the divorce between content and history. Andrew Jameson ( talk) 11:02, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, really appreciate your new articles and photos, the other metro Detroit editors are sure to be delighted at your contributions too. The house photos are great, Hecker House, Freer house, etc. Have really wanted these. There are so many more too. Need many more like Bishop Gallagher House [1], the restored Inn at 97 Winder [2], Berry Gordy House, Fisher brother houses, etc., Detroit1701 [3] has a number of these historic residences that it would be nice to have the photos to create articles. Also need Edsel and Eleanor Ford House photos and other Grosse Pointe including the Grosse Pointe War Memorial Russell Alger Mansion [4].
Regarding the Thompson Home, as a George Mason work it is certainly significant. The multi-unit/apartments can be placed under the architecture template instead of the historic homes template.
Noticed that you have a number of new biographical articles that are indeed needed, the new people should be added to list of people from Detroit and List of people from Michigan, in case I missed them.
Would like to make a template or amend yours for the churches/religious landmarks in order to organize them. Again thanks. Thomas Paine1776 ( talk) 17:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Nice article, glad it was announced in new articles section of wp:NRHP (i assume it was u announcing it). Interesting mention of ribbon farms, sure that is worth an article. I haven't heard that exact term, which may be local to Michigan, but i know that land partitioning was done that way in other places such as in French canada for plots along the St. Lawrence River (very visible to this day, from the air). Hmm.... here is one graphic showing it, not exactly as i understood it though, at Seigneurial system of New France. Anyhow, keep up the good work! doncram ( talk) 20:07, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading your media there instead. That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Oops! ... my bad ... I'll fix it. -- Sanfranman59 ( talk) 03:02, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Great pic! You'll notice that I renamed the article ... "complex" is an NPS term meant to indicate that the listing includes more than one resource, and is not used by the general public, I'm sure (much less the church itself). You don't always have to use the Register's name for the property ... project standards and naming conventions are pretty clear that a popular name takes precedence.
I'm also going to convert it to {{ infobox religious building}}, which will allow use of the image at a larger size and more pertinent info plus a section for NRHP info. Daniel Case ( talk) 16:10, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Andrew ... the note you added to the description column for Wayne State University Buildings in the Detroit NRHP list reads: "Three buildings, including what was once a provat home (now the Mackenzie House) ..." I don't recognize "provat" and couldn't find it in any online dictionary. I'm guessing it's a typo for "private", but thought I'd check with you before changing it. -- Sanfranman59 ( talk) 21:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi, i notice you just added a photo from the NPS Focus system for Ste. Claire (passenger steamboat). It adds to the article, and I appreciate your adding it. I hope you will welcome this feedback. I note that your argument for its public domain status is not exactly correct, and I am concerned that it should not set an incorrect example.
I do agree that the photo is in the public domain, but I believe it is the public domain for its age and not because it is available at a National Park Service website and not because it was taken by a Federal employee. There are many photos available in the NPS websites which are NOT public domain. See my discussion of NPS copyright statements etc on this exact point, at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#some but not all National Park Service photos are public domain. Also, while it is now stated by your use of a certain template that "This image or media file contains material based on a work of a National Park Service employee, created during the course of the person's official duties", in fact the photo taker is unknown and there is no reason to believe it was taken by a Federal employee.
Also, I would recommend cropping the photo to remove the label, but put the entire label text into the photo description. See, for example, the description of another NPS Focus photo, for this photo which I cropped to remove a label and uploaded to commons .
And finally, did you upload to wikipedia or to Commons? It is preferred to upload to commons.wikimedia.org for various reasons, including that other projects such as language versions of wikipedia can access the photos there.
Hope this is not too much feedback all at once. It happens that i really focus a lot on these exact matters. doncram ( talk) 03:48, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Great work on the Detroit related historic sites. As a former Detroiter and history buff, I am pleased to see that someone is putting in the effort on the city's abundant historic sites ... and doing so before it's too late. I was back in Detroit in August and was appalled to see the condition of many of the historic sites, including the old Michigan Central train station. Many of these places aren't going to be around much longer, simply out of neglect ... what a shame. Cbl62 ( talk) 05:05, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry this is true. I live on the Southwest-side now. However, I've lived on 7mile since I was 9 til about 2 years ago and I still say when asked "I'm from 7mile". My kids still say that that is where they are from. Growing up, the kids from 6mile claimed it. Alot of Detroit rappers are coming from Joy Rd. and have songs about it. Few of us actually live on those commercial streets. Once we have expressed our pride we may ask what part of 7mile are you from for expample. But, actually lived on Pierson street on the corner of Clarita! We easily recognize people new to the city by the way they describe where they are from because even the elderly speak of where they are from in this manner. It's not even a matter of arguement or debate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ebonywaters ( talk • contribs) 19:15, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Good morning
Student in an Art school in Europe (Belgium), I'm sorting out a book. I'd like to highlight American places such as cities, neighborhood which are called "Amsterdam", throughout personal opinions and descriptions from people in relation with these kind of places. I saw that there is the New Amsterdam Historic District in Detroit. That's why I'm looking for stories, for instance personal or real text, pictures, which represent or symbolize for you your own place (you can even speak about yourself...). On top, more stories received from many people, more the book will be interesting. I hope that you agree to forward my request among your fellow citizen and further. Thank you very much for your attention.
Best regards

Thanks for all the work. The James Scott Mansion on Peterboro St. is still standing, it might be a good idea to get a photo. [5] He donated the Scott fountain on Belle Isle. Hi, I started the Lake Linden Historic District article on 12 Aug, unaware that you had taken pics and uploaded them to commons on 10 Aug. It is one of the recently Featured properties, and I and some others create articles for all those eventually.
Since you have several pics, and the NRHP nomination provides plenty of info, I wonder if we could do a DYK for this one. It would have to be quickly done right now before the 5 day clock for new articles runs out. Or a DYK could be done with a 5X expansion of the so-far-minimal stub, later. I also mentioned this at User talk:Lvklock. Would you mind if we went ahead with a quick DYK now? We'd share DYK "credit" of course. doncram ( talk) 18:40, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

This is old business. I got around to nominating this photo of Steamer Ste. Claire and similar photo of steamer Columbia, for deletion. The original copyright justification was not valid, as has been brought up and discussed in general terms again at wt:NRHP (discussion topic "NRHP photos", i think). Hope you don't mind my trying to take it forward now. It was a long time ago we discussed this and i let it drop then, but I think it is better to remove the photos and call for new photos and/or ones with clearly valid copyright status. doncram ( talk) 23:18, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. You are certainly working hard on neighborhoods, thankfully. Like the East Jefferson Avenue Residential TR article you did. Good format, and the way to go. Thanks for all the pictures for the info boxes. Check out Brush Park Historic District, would be nice to have a picture of 104 Edmund Place, [7], (the brick gothic style home pictured in this article - Lucien Moore House), since this house has articles written about it. It is a very good example of restoration. Nice to have these boxes for each historic district (I put a column for architectural style).
