Shinto shrine

I reverted the three changes you made to Shinto shrine as vandalism. If you modify an article, you MUST say why. Please leave your reasons in the discussion page. The photo of Moto Hachiman was there for a reason. I wanted to show that a haiden is not necessary in a shrine. urashimataro ( talk) 05:46, 10 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Category National Treasure of Japan

Hi! Thank you for adding articles on shrines and temples to Category:National Treasures of Japan. I also noticed that you removed this category from some articles (for instance Kamakura Museum of National Treasures). I believe that your reasoning is, that the museum itself is not a National Treasure, which is of course correct. On the other hand, the temple Hokki-ji itself is not a National Treasure either. Only the pagoda of the temple is. To be precise, only the (yet unwritten) Hokki-ji pagoda article would belong into the Category:National Treasures of Japan. In my view these two cases are somewhat similar: a national treasure is "housed" in a museum or "housed" (part of) a temple. Personally I'd favour a categorization as on the Japanese wikipedia with categories: Category:National Treasures of Japan (temples), Category:National Treasures of Japan (paintings) and so on. A while ago I asked this question (how to categorize museums that have national treasures?) over here. Only User:Nihonjoe replied and suggested to have just one category ( Category:National Treasures of Japan) and have museums, temples, shrines, universities,... in this category if they have national treasures. It should then be explained in the article text what kind of objects are National Treasures. bamse ( talk) 18:18, 28 November 2009 (UTC) What do you think about Nihonjoe's proposal? bamse ( talk) 18:19, 28 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Hello Mr.Bamse. Because the Pagoda of Hokki-ji is a building (real estate) in the temple, Hokki-ji is Japan's National Treasure. However, the personal property is not so it.
In Japanese Wikipedia, it makes it to the classification such as Category:National Treasures of Japan (architectures), Category:National Treasures of Japan (paintings) and Category:National Treasures of Japan (sculptures).
I will oppose the classification named Category:National Treasures of Japan (temples), and Category:National Treasures of Japan (shrines). It is because the caused confusion is imagined because Category:National Treasures of Japan (paintings) that the temple owns and Category:National Treasures of Japan (paintings) that the shrines owns exist. -- 663highland ( talk) 23:56, 28 November 2009 (UTC) reply
Hello! I cannot follow your logic, when you say that because a part (pagoda) of an entity (Hokki-ji) is a National Treasure, the entity (Hokki-ji) is a National Treasure itself. If that was the case, why does the MEXT bother to nominate separate structures at one temple (for instance the kondō, kyōzō, 鐘楼, ... at Hōryū-ji)? They could just nominate the temple (Hōryū-ji) as national treasure.
I don't see why it is a problem to have articles on shrines and articles on temples in the proposed Category:National Treasures of Japan (paintings). It would be fine with me to join the proposed Category:National Treasures of Japan (temples) and Category:National Treasures of Japan (shrines) into one category Category:National Treasures of Japan (architecture) (or Category:National Treasures of Japan (structures)) as on the Japanese wikipedia. bamse ( talk) 10:18, 29 November 2009 (UTC) reply
Hello Mr.Bamse. I will understand the point that you cannot agree. However, I want you to think about the purpose of the category division. In general, the national treasure building is recognized by the name of the temple where it is owned. The number of national treasure buildings is about 215. That is, it is important. The number of owners is much less than 215. I do not think that there is a necessity for subdividing the category of the national treasure building.
For your information, in Japanses Wikipedia, it becomes like Category talk:National Treasures of Japan#Case in Japanses Wikipedia.-- 663highland ( talk) 11:22, 29 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Sorry to interfere. I think Xowgax meant the lower structure which is attached to the wall (or sliding door) just above the lamp. As far as I understand this explanation, a ranma (欄間) is the structure at the top above the door/wall. I marked the ranma with an image annotation. I would also like to know what the lower vent-like structure is, since I don't remember having seen anything like it before. bamse ( talk) 20:17, 6 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Thank you very much. I think that it is appropriate that ja:天孫降臨 translates earlier than ja:高千穂河原.
ja:天孫降臨 means "God's advent" or "King advent", and the place where it occurs is ja:高千穂河原 (Takachiho-gawara). However, it is difficult in my present English language skill to translate it. Thank you very much. -- 663highland ( talk) 13:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC) reply

Non-free rationale for File:Wakamatsu Park Nagata-ku Kobe03nLR.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wakamatsu Park Nagata-ku Kobe03nLR.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. We created a computer program to generate random pairings of sentences from public domain texts and public domain / creative commons images. Some of the pictures we've selected come from the Wikipedia Commons. All the pictures we select ourselves, but the pairings and the text are random. Of these pairings that are generated, we only post the most interesting combinations.

We welcome any feedback about our site.

Keiyō Line top image

Hi. I noticed that you changed the images in the Keiyō Line article recently. While I can understand that you might be keen to have a photo you took yourself at the top, were you aware that the image you replaced ( this image) was nominated as a "Quality Image" on Commons? As such, I think it is a better choice of top image compared with the image you added, which shows the rear end of a train (note the red tail lights). If you think you have a better quality image, you could discuss it on the article's Talk page. Thanks. -- DAJF ( talk) 12:13, 8 October 2015 (UTC) reply
