New article to create for you
Hi @
Xexerss, there is new article to create about a manga serialized in Young Champion from 2006 to 2011 which also has three other manga series, can you create it? It's
Tōhai by Kōji Shinasaka. It also has an article in Japanese:
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/凍牌
I don't think I'll be able to create it right now. The series may be notable, but I couldn't find enough coverage by doing a quick search, and the Japanese article mostly cites primary sources.

Although I admit that I myself have done splits for tables with the same amount of episodes before,
MOS:TVSPLIT suggests that it should have around 50 to 60 episodes to warrant said split (I made those splits before familiarizing myself with the MOS). The truth is that there are a lot of articles that don't adhere to the MOS, but since
WP:OTHERCONTENT is not an argument, I suppose that there are no issues with it right now. In any case, the 'Post-expand include size' of the article is currently at 407,735/2,097,152 bytes, so the table is not a problem right now (perhaps someone will do the split later on anyway, but I have to decline for now).

Hi @

New article to create for you
Hi @
Xexerss, there's an article I'd like you to create for the manga series
Gang King by Daiju Yanauchi. It was initially published in Shonen Gahosha's
Young King magazine from 2003 to 2013, before switching publishers to Kodansha and resuming in

Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2017 and finally finished in

Awards
I was curious about it. Should the awards from anime news network and animetrending also be mentioned? The first I used in an article was one Askeladd won in 2019 which helped backup his notability . Same with 2023 Thorfinn. While I'm not sure about animetrending, I have Ishiguro talking about it Last weekend when Heavenly Delusion won anime of the year. You find them worth it? Cheers.

Dr. Stone - Dr. STONE
Hi, I think that the stylized logo of Dr. Stone should be Dr. STONE, because even if it looks like "Dr.STONE", if official sites like Manga Plus and Crunchyroll write "Dr. STONE" it means that it's supposed to be written like that. Why should a simplified logo mean more than an official title?
Fleyzk (
talk) 14:02, 14 March 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Fleyzk: But stylization refers to how the logo appears on the volumes of the series, not how certain platforms write the title. That's why in articles such as
One Piece or
Bleach (manga) stylization is denoted by "stylized in all caps". Also, stylization is usually denoted only when the series' title is rendered in Latin script in the original language (Japanese), so, in this case, it makes more sense to follow this instead of following the stylization used on some platforms.

Hey, wanted to respond to some points in your
revert message on the
Medalist (manga) page since it seems there's some misunderstanding.
You said "PV has not premiered yet" – but this is incorrect, because it had. I added it shortly after the premiere at 11 p.m. JST that day; the video was live and publicly viewable, and not region locked to Japan or anything like that. It also had official English subtitles and title metadata set by the studio, which were also viewable at that time. As a result, I honestly don't know what you're talking about or what this message means.
You also wrote that "the video is from a Japanese account, not an English one" – yes, because this is a Japanese show produced by a Japanese studio. Is that surprising…? And what's the issue? It's not likely that any English-language license will be announced in the near future, thus most sources regarding the show are going to be in Japanese. The source language of a reference has no bearing on its ability to be used in a Wikipedia article and, in fact, one should pretty obviously expect most sources about a show from Japan to be in Japanese, especially when it's nearly a year away from airing. –
Fpmfpm (
talk) 11:35, 22 March 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Fpmfpm: 1) When you added the citation the video was not available for viewing yet. 2) In the 'language' parameter you added that it was in English, when obviously it was not.
Xexerss (
talk) 21:00, 22 March 2024 (UTC)reply
1) Yes it was.
2) I guess the citation tool got that one wrong and I didn't catch it. Would have been easier for you to simply fix it rather than remove it entirely!
@
Fpmfpm: See
WP:OTHERCONTENT. I at least don't see the encyclopedic value of simply mentioning the date when the trailer was posted (I think that the information provided by the trailer is more relevant than the trailer itself). It doesn't seem such a significant event compared to the other content mentioned in anime section (for the Medalist article at least).
Xexerss (
talk) 12:28, 24 March 2024 (UTC)reply
I'm aware there doesn't need to be consistency between articles, but there is a reason dozens and dozens of other editors have all come to the same conclusion that the information about a first-look teaser is often worth mentioning due to what it signals in a show's development timeline. I do understand where you're coming from, and think that it'd be helpful if you could try to understand why so many people view it as natural to include in articles like this as well. I agree – sure, I think we can say that the cast list, staff information, and exact on-air date were also revealed on that day, because along with the trailer's premiere revealing loads of new information, the official website was updated at the same time, and now today a second key visual has been released as well.
It's worth preserving that this is all happening now, in early 2024. Shouldn't the article aim to give people some sense of this production timeline, not just… serialization started in 2020, and then… boom, out of nowhere, the show premieres in 2025? It's natural to wonder: what happened in between, and when? (I just realized that the article doesn't even mention when the anime adaptation was announced, which should also be fixed, IMO.) The flurry of activity recently – fronted by the first-ever trailer releasing, letting people finally see the manga in a near-final animated form, full-color, with music and all – is a critical, key time in the show's development/production. If we're aiming to keep the article and that section comprehensive, it should be (briefly) mentioned, not overlooked completely or intentionally avoided. –
Fpmfpm (
talk) 12:52, 24 March 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Fpmfpm: What do you mean with "the article doesn't even mention when the anime adaptation was announced"? The article literally has the sentence "An anime television series adaptation was announced on May 18, 2023"; isn't that enough? Most (if not all) TV series release trailers, key visuals and such to make themselves known to the audience, but I ask what is the point here of just mentioning the date a trailer was posted? What would our readers miss by not knowing this event?
Xexerss (
talk) 13:04, 24 March 2024 (UTC)reply
Let's see, my point is that I can see the relevance of mentioning when the announcement of an adaptation is made (for the mere fact that receiving an adaptation is something noteworthy), the staff (mainly to support the information that appears in the infobox), and the premiere/airing dates (likewise, for the infobox and for the eventual creation of episode list sections/articles). I don't see, however, the relevance of just mentioning the dates, without further context, when a trailer (or a key visual or similar) of a series is released. It's not that I'm strongly opposed to mentioning the event, it's just that I don't understand its relevance for the article and what is the encyclopedic contribution that it provides. It's also worth mentioning
WP:NOTNEWS, and therefore, it's not like we have to mention every event related to the anime release to "give people some sense of this production timeline".
Xexerss (

Non-English anime licensee
This wiki doesn't have the template about Non-English anime licensee since not every anime can be license to the
English anime licensee such as
Crunchyroll, especially to the Asian markets where English wasn't their main language. (Crunchyroll did have English dubbing for some of their anime that was carried by another licensee in the Asian markets, such as
Muse Communication and
Medialink)
VernardoLau (

VernardoLau: Hi. Sorry, but I don't quite understand your point. From what I understand, Medialink and Muse Asia have licensed a number of titles for English-speaking territories in Asia (there are English-speaking territories in South Asia and Southeast Asia, as you can see in
theirarticles). I assume that when Medialink or Muse Asia post in English on their social networks that certain titles have been acquired it is because they are intended to be distributed for English-speaking audiences in the English-speaking territories where these companies operate. However, seeing that the Instagram publications regarding Muse Asia's distribution of Undead Unluck was only posted in Chinese, it seems unlikely that the acquisition is intended for English-speaking audiences. From what I understand, English is not officially spoken in Taiwan, and although Hong Kong does have a significant portion of the population that speaks English, just judging by the publication alone, it doesn't seem that the series' acquisition is intended for English-speaking audiences in those countries.

Templates and their rules
Hello, As far as I understand each template has its own rules which means another template rule is not applicable for another (kinda). The reason why I brought this up is because I've seen in some article,
Spy × Family (TV series) for example that some editors keep deleting the last_aired date of the anime even though it is ended and insist that based on
Template:Infobox television's rules "Set the last episode date as the "last_aired" date only if there is no announcement for 12 months". My problem is that we are not even using
Template:Infobox television for animes but using
Template:Infobox animanga/Video which doesn't have such a rule and as far as I know the reason we have different templates for different subjects and stuff (well one of the reasons) is because of different situation they can have, for example everyone knows that animes are always ended unless they announce something, every single season counts as the last one, unless they announce two or more seasons before hand. So because of this I assume they didn't include the 12 months rules in
Template:Infobox animanga/Video because anime simply doesn't work like normal TV series does. As you can see here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Spy_%C3%97_Family_(TV_series)&action=history
I changed this twice and both times was done by two different editors in this article, but I really wonder am I even right about this? honestly using another template's rules doesn't make sense to me, we do have another template for animes for a reason!
Parham.es (
talk) 19:07, 30 March 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Parham.es: If the article is using Template:Infobox animanga/Video, I don't see what Template:Infobox television has to do with it. If an editor has a problem with that, then they should start a discussion and not make those changes just like that. If there is no kind of announcement implying that a series is going to continue, I don't see any reason why we should say otherwise in the article.

Hello Xexerss,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the
May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Hi Xexerss, you reverted an edit I made on the Dragon Ball manga page and I wanted some clarification.
The original two sentences: "Although he suspected the fighting genre would appeal more to its shōnen audience, Toriyama tried to stick to the Journey to the West adventure aspect which he himself enjoyed. Such as having the setting change each chapter, different enemies popping up, and different locations."
It seems like in starting the sentence with "Such as" is impromper and an incomplete sentence, no? It seemed clunky/wrong when I was reading through the article and so I attempted a fix. If my fix wasn't up-to-code, that's fine, but it still doesn't seem right. I was also thinking of just changing the period to a comma and making it one longer sentence - even that litte change seems better than the original. Thoughts?

Hello! I was going to publish another edit on the Tonbo! article earlier as I was doing it on the mobile version of the web before something came up.
The company does list most of its partnered platforms in the video descriptions. It's quite unfortunate that they don't really write proper posts for their distribution like other distributors.
I'd like to create an article for the company in the future, but as you already know, I've been hoping to see more reputable outlets report about their releases so I could use them as citations.

Ok, after seeing other articles I think that "adventure" is better. The real problem is that there isn't an article about "science fantasy comedy" genre. There are "fantasy comedy" and "science fiction comedy" but no science fantasy comedy.

I see that in the City Hunter article there's written
detectivecomedy as a single genre

Fleyzk: Just to make it clear, I'm not going to revert your edit in the MHA article (I'll leave it to another editor's discretion if it is okay to leave it as is), but I'll remind you about
WP:OTHERCONTENT. About the City Hunter article, now that I remember, it was me who made that edit a few years ago,
[2] but now that I think about it, it was rather an arbitrary decision and I think that the three terms can be perfectly listed as separate genres.
Xexerss (

Ok, I've seen that it's been reverted. No problem. I just think that there should be an article about "science fantasy comedy" since there are "science fiction comedy" (even if it's a very short article) and "fantasy comedy". But I know that it's not an urgent matter.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture
About
Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture I think there is another poster featuring more characters but I don't know if it has the logo of the movie. Any idea? Maybe it might replace the current one to be more illustrative of the cast. Cheers

Tintor2: I think the current one is fine. Is that other image a theatrical release poster? It seems that these are the ones that are usually preferred.

Hi there, thank you for correcting the things I'd missed in the edit, I was planning on doing them but I was in a hurry, so, I thought to just publish at the moment. You seem to have removed the headline but the template says to include it for accessibility? Also, wouldn't the better title be "Original Soundtrack" rather than "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", though, it is a movie and it makes sense to include the that in the title, I see most sources mentioning only the former. Also, I was thinking to create a separate article for the soundtrack itself, would you be willing to help out on that because I am unable to find many references. Lunar-akaunto/

Lunar-akaunto: I guess any of those titles are fine. "Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)" is the title used by some audio streaming platforms.
[3] I don't think I have that much time to get actively involved with that, but I may give some help if you're planning to create it at some point.
Xexerss (
talk) 09:10, 5 May 2024 (UTC)reply
Okay, and wouldn't it be more practical to mention "Jujutsu Kaisen soundtrack albums" in the chronology section rather than all the mentioned three artists? the guide mentions to state the default artist's chronology but doesn't say anything about multiple artists. Multiple chronologies could be used but I believe they have released some other albums in between and this chronology would not work for the next 2 albums either, since, only Terui among the three worked on them? By the way, I only discuss this here because you seem to be actively editing the article and if I edit in between and you disagree and revert that'd disrupt the article space. Lunar-akaunto/

Hi again, I am working to add the soundtrack for season 2, but as you mentioned earlier not to use「」or alike, what would be better to use as an alternative instead? Would " " be better? This is not just for Jujutsu Kaisen soundtracks but other albums as well where the use of phrasing such as "TV Animation" is prominent in the title? see:
Spy × Family: Original Soundtrack (this is just an example, but many soundtracks titles are not as simple as Spy × Family, since, they contain some divisions in the title such as season 2, or an arc, where using the quoting for the title becomes more appropriate, using " " makes it look a little clumped together? When official English translations contain those typographic symbols, are we supposed to translate the symbols as well? I see no harm in using them but if there's any guide that says otherwise. What do you think of this? I asked you since a second opinion would be better before I make any more edits on this. Of course, I can just add the soundtrack for season 2 and will let you know and you may edit add the title as you see fit. Lunar-akaunto/

Lunar-akaunto: Apparently the album has not been released in the English-speaking market yet (as far as I know), so "Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death and Shibuya Incident Original Soundtrack" would be a possible choice I suppose.
[4] Feel free to use another similar title if you can think of something better. I think we could simply omit those symbols. They are only used to emphasize the title of the series, but I don't think we need to use them here.
Xexerss (

Oh, an English version has been released but is limited to a few countries. It was available at my place but became unavailable shortly after,
[5]. I believe it would it be alright to alter the title by adding space before and after "/", and removing "The" before Shibuya Incident to match that of the Wikipedia article? Also, an important thing, there are 2 soundtracks for season 2, the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" and "Shibuya Incident", the former release includes Hidden Inventory ost in Disc 1 again followed by the new ost in Disc 2. Adding both would be just repeating the same information twice, what do you suggest? Lunar-akaunto/

Considering the article doesn't use nonfree images other than the theatrical poster, do you guys suggest uploading the cover of the soundtrack?
Tintor2 (
talk) 00:24, 7 May 2024 (UTC)reply
Don't do that, it most likely would be deleted since the focus of the article is season 2 and not the soundtrack itself. I did it for other soundtracks when I was a newbie, and they were deleted. The soundtrack cover can be used if, in the future, a separate article for the soundtrack is created. Lunar-akaunto/

Accept reason: As a longtime user I have given you a 10 day IP block exemption so you can resume editing. If I had to guess I would have to say that your IP from your ISP changed, and you got one used by this other account. It may change again and this issue may go away on its own. If it doesn't, you may need to ask a checkuser for a longer exemption.

Hi @
Xexerss, I hope you are doing well, if you have free time can you create the Comic Ran Twins manga magazine article? I think there is enough to create an article for that and the
Japanese article also looks good.

M.A.LasTroniN910: Hi. I think that the magazine is probably notable and there must be enough sources to create an article. However, I don't have experience creating magazine articles, and although it wouldn't be something extremely complicated, in case I do so, I would look for enough sources to create an article with good references, and unfortunately, I don't have enough free time to promise that I will create it in the short term.

Hi, I'm sorry, but I reverted your revision because I believe, TLDR, it's worth it to mention the actual artist, and this time I tweaked it. Compare the game
Witchaven which mentions the cover art done by
Ken Kelly. That caption has been there a very long time without issue (even though the game is now obscure). If this isn't consistent with other anime articles, then perhaps it's time to change the status quo a bit in the name of inclusion - this kind of credit isn't without precedent either (think of how many cartoons open with episode credits for example). It's not some protest or crusade by me, but artists do deserve some overlooked credit. ~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 01:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)reply
Okay so, I just realized the infobox mentions Tsunako anyway; I didn't realize the illustration generally and cover share the same artist haha my bad. But still for clarity for now I delinked the name, feel free to revert it all of course. :( ~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 01:57, 25 May 2024 (UTC)reply
@
Sigehelmus: It's not really that important to me to leave it or not, but I don't find it necessary if the illustrator is already included in the same infobox ("illustrator" parameter); seems kinda redundant.

Pegasus Seiya
As I revised an old character article,
Pegasus Seiya, I noticed wikicommons had a lot of cosplays involving his armors but I can't tell if I'm being objective by getting rid of the Sagittarius image and replacing it with another cosplay to avoid more copyrighted material. I'm kinda confused that Japanese Wikipedia has an image of
Shingo Araki's Seiya (anime design for the first arc that contrasts Kurumada's) but I can't find any notable interview. Cheers.
