Hello TheMadBaron/Archive 1, welcome to Wikipedia!
Here are some tips:
If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.
If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τ ε χ 15:39, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
ey thanks for the edits on the page, I appreciate you taking time out to polish it up. There is currently a dispute over whether the tag needs to stay on even after a number of edits were made. I'm trying to se if we cna geta consensus either way, so if you wouldn't mind voiving your opinion (either way on the talk page, that'd be great. Thanks. Gator1 18:36, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
Hi there. I just closed the AfD on this, but it is still a copyvio since it is overwhelmingly the same text as on their website. I've listed it at WP:CP as a result: if you should rewrite the article, please do so on Clifters/Temp, and indicate that on Talk:Clifters. You might also point that out at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2005 September 24. Thanks. - Splash talk 21:32, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
You may not have seen it but I have responded to all of your comments on those talk pages. I wouldn't be able to write it better as I know too much but you might. Just thought I'd ask! -- Cel e stianpower hablamé 20:36, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
I'll have a run at it over the next week or two. Cheers! BD2412 talk 14:12, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
First off, it was a bad choice of name. The article needs a better name. The term was coined by US officials, and picked up by the press. Prior to starting the article I had only seen it used to refer to the most senior al Qaeda captives. But, googling for it showed me US officials had also used the term to refer to Saddam's most senior cadre. My mistake.
I have responded, at length, on the deletion page. I thought I would respond on your talk page, and ask you, would you have any other concerns if the consensus was to change the title of the article? If not, I am drawing a blank on better titles, although I now see the current title has to go. Is any better title occurring to you? Thanks. -- Geo Swan 18:06, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
Pls help at Talk:List_of_high_value_detainees - thanks! KC

Right then.
Well, it might be a bit spoilt by me telling you all of these details (and you reading them in the articles) but they are very entertaining. And with V.F.D. thrown in, they get quite deep towards the end of the series (although I was quite disappointed by The Penultimate Peril). -- Cel e stianpower háblame 09:39, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
Well, I studied this technicque recently in music at school and the article as is looks pretty good. It's rather difficult to explain and the person there has done an okay job. -- Cel e stianpower háblame 12:45, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
"These days, digital recording has improved tremendously, and since most classical music's going to end up on CD anyway, there's not much reason not to digitally multitrack it."
Technologically, yes, but many musicans, music groups and orchestras in the following genres cosider it more sophisticated to record "direct to master":
"So, there are probably still some snobs recording orchestras through a single microphone directly onto gramophone record in the misguided belief that this somehow produces better results than CDs recorded with state of the art digital multitracking equipment."
They prefrence is not due to a musiguaded belief, it is just a sophisticated personal taste. They are not snobs! Furthermore digital recording is inherently lossy, in comparsion to the very best analog recordings.
"Bloody Luddites."
This is a powerful insult to many classical musicians (even ones that do not reconrd this way) as well as classical producers and recording engineers that work with them, and many classical composers and fans. If you continue to use such insults on Wikipedia articles, including discussion forums, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Highly inappropriate.
I take these jokes quite seriously.
"I find your suggestion that it is insulting to people who don't work that way utterly bizarre." Many of these people respect people who still record this way (they may be their heroes, friends or even fans).
You're a frequent contributor to the Maine Coon page. What are your thoughts on the picture issue. I think there should just be three and I have voted my top three picks. It's a unique enough cat with alot of diffrent markings and features that I think a few pictures are appropriate, but it seems to be getting out of hand. Your thoughts? remind me sometime not to try to comment (or add) when I'm in the middle of trying to prevent revert wars, being accused of personal attacks on my talk page, and sleep deprived. Kudos and thanks for catching that. KillerChihuahua 02:28, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
ROFL, and I actually did ask for it, literally... Baron, if you're not completely buried, how do you feel about attacking an article that's in even worse shape than Comanche was? This one is going to require massive copyvio triage - and sports the unweildy title of Ethnic stereotypes in American media, and its main editor is a newbie named Ratherford, please don't bite him because he's well intentioned, just very green. KillerChihuahua 02:52, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
I've thrown together what little I could quickly glean on the subject, but this may already be out of date. I'll keep working on it, tho. Cheers! BD2412 T 20:33, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
For your contributions to Ethnic stereotypes in American media. -- Ratherford Skills
Hello, good work on Isaiah Washington, and thanks for the contribution. However, you forgot to add any references to the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. What websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Isaiah Washington? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 06:28, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
For cleaning up the ever-messy A Series of Unfortunate Events articles. smurrayinchester( User), ( Ho Ho Ho!) 15:56, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
That's two edits to the Navy Seals page in 1 day. For such a bad movie I can't imagine it rates more than one edit per year.
Right on! I've seen lots of inappropriate links to rock and roll. Are you keeping any sort of list, or do you just fix them as you stumble across them? Slicing 16:53, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
I have been nominated in an RFA. As somone who has worked with me on the Maine Coon page for some time, I thought that your opinion (whether its support, oppose or neutral) would be valued by everyone involved (as well as myself) no matter what it might be. Thanks! Gator (talk) 02:39, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
What is it you don't understand? /user/games/wargames is a shell script included with BSD systems which will ask you what you want to play and start the game if it exists or say the quote if it doesn't, how hard is that to understand from what is already given? What alternative wording do you believe would better convey this? Just deleting stuff you don't get is counter productive. "A strange game. The only winning move is not to play" is the key quote in the film, what in the world do you mean "the relevance of the quote is not clear." Janizary 06:05, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Seeing as you seem to have shown an interest in A Series of Unfortunate Events related articles, I thought you might want to know about a new WikiProject that I have started up, on the aforementioned topic. Please see it here! If you wish to help out, please sign up in the Participants section. Thanks! -- Cel e stianpower háblame 19:59, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
A very happy new year to you and yours. KillerChihuahua ?!? 22:00, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
I notice that you've contributed to this article in the past. Now it's the comics collab of the week. Please stop by and see if you can help bring this article up to featured article quality! ike9898 15:49, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Hey, about your questions concerning VFD, not all the answers are known just yet. For example, you questioned about the "meeting place" where Kit Snicket is proved not to be, that quote came from the Unofficial Autobiography, and it is even more vague than the books. When more accurate information comes out we'll let you know. Send any questions you have about this to my talk page, as I have read the books very well and consider myself an expert.
I was looking around on wikipedia and found that you'd also found the Abo-Teni article suspicious. Further poking around on google yielded tiberius lowang's xanga, which appears to be a diary by someone who's created the (I'm now convinced) completely fictional Tiberius Lowang article, and most likely some of the other linked articles.
I was wondering your opinion on this and if you'd be willing to help me clear these out as a sort of mini-project. Akriasas 04:26, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Hey, glad to see that it's been done! Thanks! Akriasas 01:42, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
hi Madbaron

I wonder if you'd consider not using symbols to label your comments on WP:AFD. It really isn't a vote, but your use of symbols might inadvertently emphasize the false impression that it is. -- Tony Sidaway 23:22, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
I had the feeling I was giving more opinion than fact. Thanks. - NGC6254 04:44, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi, This certainly was a candidate for deletion in its original form. I've now added material and wonder if you could see what you think of it now? Dlyons493 Talk 20:23, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree with you, but I don´t think that Yok-sha puddin´, Tripe and Yok-sha hotpot should go. They´re integral to food in Yorkshire.
Please put them back in, Baron, and I will restrain myself from adding national stuff in future.
Have fun.

Thank you. You were right about the edit, because I ran away with myself.
Gobstoppers? I remember breaking a tooth or two on them myself. Can´t find any in the part of the world I live in now, though.
andreasegde 01:49, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
You are right about changing the name - I never liked it. Any ideas? It can´t be dialect, as that´s already in...
andreasegde 08:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
I like it, but it´s a bit of a gobstopper/mouthful. What about "Yorkshire slang"?
Can I just change the name (and the link on the Yorkshire page) or do I have to do something else? Sorry to sound so dumb... andreasegde 09:01, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi TheMadBaron,
Thanks for your work on Air Transat Flight 236. I thought I should let you know that flamed out is almost the complete opposite to caught fire! You can read the flameout article if you want to know more. Icd 05:25, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

THanks for the note. I have changed the settings to avoid doing this while the underlying cause is investigated. Rgds, Rich Farmbrough 16:18 13 June 2006 (GMT).
Hallo MadBaron, I saw you did some editing on pizza delivery. I think the article is very American Centric. Therefore, I have added some aspects on pizza deliverym in European countries. I saw you have a Thai background. That is the reason why I am asking this question. Do you know somethin about pizza delivery in Asian Countries? I do not know whether pizzas are delivered in Asian countries. But perhaps you know. It would be an improvement of the article if pizza delivery in Asian countries is included as well. Could you ad something?
Greetings, RaF 17 June, 2006
I thought they were good remarks, obvious POV. Amazed they lasted that long. Fantailfan 20:46, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree that articles on Thai people should note their preferred spelling, the IPA pronunciation, the Royal Institute transliteration, and preferably even an audio file of the pronunciation. However, I do not agree that each article deserves a separate section on transliteration. It would be much preferable to include links to each of those systems, like the way I modified the introduction of the Bhumibol Adulyadej article. Detailed discussions of the pros and cons of each system should be covered in the articles on those systems. Patiwat 23:09, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

OK, I've replaced "bilked" with "swindled" (and linked it to fraud). Clarityfiend 06:09, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
It's been a while since I saw the movie, so I don't know for sure the answers to your two questions. (I got Laredo from IMDB's plot summary.) Clarityfiend 06:53, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 23:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. The phrase "Torch Up Murder" does not appear anywhere in any of the books. I left it in until I could determine how Rupert Murdoch was related to the series. Now I know that he is the owner of HarperCollins, the publisher of the series, so I'll go ahead and remove "torch up murder" now. JCoug 18:39, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
The mention of Allan Gray as the composer of the music for Forty-Ninth Parallel is what is known as, to use the technical jargon, a mistake :) Probably made by copying the info box from other films by The Archers and not editing it properly. Thanks for noticing it. Allan Gray was the composer for quite a few of the other films of The Archers (Powell & Pressburger) from The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp through to A Matter of Life and Death. But he's got nothing to do with that South African bank so I've modified the links on the other films. The article on the bank is fairly new and that picked up the links to the composer which didn't go anywhere - waiting for an article to be written about him -- SteveCrook 14:13, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
I would add a section on Critical reaction and Box office as sub-topics of Reception (Awards should be a sub of it too). I would also add a section about the movie's production entitled Production (kinda obvious). That section may include information such as development of the script, casting changes, etc... The Storyline section could be expanded (and entitled Plot if it is expanded). The Controversy section should be totally converted to prose and Trivia should be moved to other sections, such as Produciton. Images could be added to help illustrate the plot or production (cast shots, books it was based on, images of filming...). Anything else I can help you with? Cbrown1023 21:19, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually, that's why I did delete it, not to mention the fact that variations on the same theme had been blown out a number of times before. Didn't mean to bite; I wasn't angry when I deleted it, but thanks for pointing it out. - Lucky 6.9 01:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
