Fair Use Images

Hello. I leave you this message to prevent further disputes. I recently removed some fair use images from your user boxes. I'm afraid I cannot allow you to use copyrighted images, such as the Runescape logo, on your user page, since this practice is forbidden in Wikipedia:Fair_use#Policy item #9. If you have any questions, please refer to the provided link for the Wikipedia policy, User:Durin's explanation of fair use image removal at User:Durin/Removal of fair use images, leave a message on my talk page, or ask other Wikipedians. Yours truly, Boricuaeddie TalkContribsSpread the love! 21:44, 26 April 2007 (UTC) reply

Hello. This is a reply to your comment at my talk page. I would like to clarify to you that the Runescape logo is non-free content. Therefore, its use is restricted to the relevant article. Its use anywhere else is copyright infrigment. Please refer once again to Wikipedia:Fair_use#Policy item #9 and WP:CIVIL. A tag has been placed on Measle And The Wrathmonk, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{ hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Finngall talk 19:16, 3 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Re: Complaint

Because it did not show sufficient notability as per Wikipedia guidelines; that is, "Generally, a topic is notable if it has been the subject of coverage that is independent of the subject, reliable, and attributable." Flash Element TD did not demonstrate that it was notable through any applicable sources, hence deletion. Don't take it as a personal insult - many hundreds (possibly thousands) of articles are deleted daily.

Next time, before creating an article, examine Wikipedia:Notability, our guidelines for article inclusion. Try to ensure that the subject of your article meets the notability guidelines set out there. Additionally, if an article of yours is tagged for deletion as per Finngallm, above, do not remove the tag yourself. This is extremely bad form. Instead, place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, and provide an explanation on the article's Talk page as to why the article should not be deleted.

Remember, Wikipedia is not Everything2. We are not a complete repository of everything in the entire world. All silly articles aside, we are an encyclopedia. We seek to provide complete coverage of notable subjects, as determined by independent secondary sources. Non-notable things should not be added until they are notable. Hi Runewiki777. I notice that you recently changed the sandbox to resemble the Main Page. There isn't really anything wrong with that (it's actually quite humourous). However, you removed the sand box heading template. Next time you edit the sandbox, could you leave it there? Thank you. Bart133 (t) (c) 20:40, 10 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Hello. This is a reply to your question on my talk page. No matter how much you are bothered by a certain person, you should not despise anyone, as we are all brothers. User:PMC's thoughts

Well, as a LaVeyan Satanist, if he didn't stop after I asked him once or twice, I'd probably end up hitting him, based on the eleventh Satanic Rule - "When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him." (See The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth).
But, that is a last resort, and you shouldn't just hit anyone who annoys you, especially not in school, where there can be nasty consequences for getting physical. I would ask him - publically - to leave you the hell alone. Be strong, be assertive, be confident - don't be hysterical, angry, or panicky. Don't raise your voice unless you have to, and never make threats, especially threats of violence (a la, "if you don't stop calling me stupid, I'll hit you!"). Simply suggest that he move along and find someone else to harass. If it continues, ask again, more firmly - still, don't make threats and don't raise your voice if you don't have to. If that doesn't help, you should talk to a parent or a teacher about it. Tell them exactly what's going on, and hopefully they can do something about it. There is absolutely no reason you should have to suffer harassment in school. P M C 20:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC) reply

You go to the Preferences link, which, when logged in, appears to the right of "My Talk" at the top of the page. Then, scroll down a bit until you get to Signature. Fill in what you want there. Use HTML and/or Wikimarkup, and always include a link to at least your User Talk page, and preferably your User page as well. Don't make it too overly fancy, as this is generally frowned upon. Mine's a bit on the big side, so err on the side of being smaller than mine, and never use images, ever. P M C 18:45, 15 May 2007 (UTC) reply

An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 19:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Hi. (I'm not DerHexer, but anyway...) On most wikis it is very usual to answer where the question stands. That keeps the conversation coherent and at one place and others can more easily read or join it. If the sender wants to have an answer, he/she should put the page on the watchlist. -- Thogo (Talk) 21:57, 16 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Hello, Runewiki777. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image ( Image:Movie poster toy story 2.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Runewiki777. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. Warning vandals

Hello. I'm in agreement with the recent revert you made to Seven Years War. You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. -- AW 20:49, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply

School article

Honestly, Rune, I don't think the school is notable enough to have an article. It's interesting that it has a dance program, and it's very patriotic that the school celebrates its veterans, but I just don't think it's important enough to have its own article. P M C 20:32, 22 May 2007 (UTC) reply

There's no reason to move a cappella to cappella, Rune. A cappella - with the "a," distinctly - is the name of the vocal technique. It is not called and has never been called simply "cappella," except by mistake. If you're really concerned, you can add a disambig notice at the top of cappella that refers people to a cappella. By the way, there is a page for requesting moves - it's at Wikipedia:Requested moves. P M C 07:39, 24 May 2007 (UTC) reply

I am pretty sure you can not blocked for editing Wikipedia:Revert-only sandbox besides if you are this serious about it fine i will stop editing it even though it is classified as a game.

Hello. Sorry to butt in like this, but I don't think you should have warned User:Java7837 with a warning as strong as {{uw-vandalism4im}}. Here at Wikipedia, we like to warn users at least two times before using such a strong warning. After all, he only vandalized your talk page 1 time, and I don't think what he did should even be classified as vandalism. In the future, please use {{uw-vandalism1}} or {{uw-test1}} before resorting to a last warning. For a list of more warnings, please see Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Also, please remember to always remain civil, assume good faith, and never insult the vandals. Finally, please remember to always sing your comments on talk pages with ~~~~. Thank you. Commercial use of Image:Battle animals.JPG

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Battle animals.JPG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Battle animals.JPG is an image licensed as " for non-commercial use only" or " used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles ( CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{ GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{ cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{ PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Battle animals.JPG itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. -- Android Mouse Bot 2 18:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Wack-a-mole2.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Wack-a-mole2.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- Durin 15:48, 11 June 2007 (UTC) reply
