You are receiving this message either because you expressed an opinion about the proposed SOPA blackout before full blackout and soft blackout were adequately differentiated, or because you expressed general support without specifying a preference. Thank you.

Hi, JayJasper! Thank you so much for reviewing some articles for the Wikipedia Education Program research project! The results of this project are vital for planning the coming semester in the program, and we'd like to review as many classes as possible in the next week.
I have gone through each class to prioritize for various projects, and everyone on the Education team at the Wikimedia Foundation would be extremely grateful if you could participate further by reviewing a few more articles ('pre' and 'post' versions). If we can rally a lot of editors to review one or two articles each day, we will be able to make the most use of this research for our tight timeline. We are really eager to find out which classes have been successful according to the Wikipedian standard.
Here is the list of priority articles if you're interested in helping out. Thanks so much for your consideration! JMathewson (WMF) ( talk) 01:38, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Voter turnout in the United States presidential elections was dropped on my door step as being very problematic, single source, and unreliable. Hi, I just put a lot of time into making a more accurate, readable, and unbiased post on Jesse Ventura's page for the "Opie and Anthony Incident," to see it reverted four minutes later. What do you mean by more encyclopedic version? I'm wondering if you actually read both and watched the video of the incident. TheStrawDog ( talk) 23:24, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi, JayJasper, Thanks for replying and revisiting the post. True, it was heavy with quotes. I wanted to demonstrate that Ventura's reaction had context. I like the changes you made. You're right, I was thinking the swears were to be capitalized like names, so thanks for correcting that.
I don't like the word "angrily" in there because it seemed to suggest this was the first angry comment. Same reason I included the note about dirty language - it seemed an absurd statement from Norton, considering the storm he was cursing up earlier, and if you didn't see the actual conversation you would think it had merit.
I've also noticed that the previous entry, Navy Seal Accusations, implies some things about SEALS and Ventura that look quite biased - it's hard to tell where the writer is interjecting his own opinion and not Bill Salisbury's. He also wraps it up in a way that seems to imply that Ventura isn't officially a SEAL, which is false. I'm inclined to fix that, too. Or, if you are up to it, I'd be happier to see you address it.
Thanks, 76.126.104.12 ( talk) 05:17, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I looked again. It still doesn't demonstrate that Norton insulted Ventura, prompting the "asshole" remark, he didn't simply ask why he was leaving. I feel this leaves a very biased impression of what happened.

Jesse doesn't really question 9/11 (though he has in other places) so I removed that. I put back in the thing about sulking off the show - because without that context, you don't know why Ventura got nasty. Please check it out. Thanks again, TheStrawDog ( talk) 02:51, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You tagged some info I posted about Gary Johnson's stance on campaign finance as coming from an "unreliable source."
I found this strange -- the source was from Gary Johnson himself, in an "Ask Me Anything" segment on the popular website Reddit.com.
Here is the intro to his "Ask Me Anything" session, where he introduces himself: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/zq0ow/i_am_gov_gary_johnson_the_libertarian_candidate/
...with a link to a tweet posted from his verified Twitter account confirming that it was indeed the real Gary Johnson participating: https://twitter.com/GovGaryJohnson/status/245597958253445120
Anyway, I don't mean to make a big deal of this, but this was only my third or fourth time ever posting on Wikipedia, and it was annoying to me to, after having spent a decent amount of time figuring out how to format everything correctly (I haven't updated an article in a couple of years), see that the information I had posted had been deemed as coming from an "unreliable" source.
Happy to discuss this further, I'm sure you meant well, but I wanted you to know that the information I had posted was from one of the most reliable & direct sources in existence! Thanks for reading. Yamyamma ( talk) 07:07, 13 September 2012 (UTC)YamYamma
Didn't mean to annoy you by tagging the citation you placed, I did so because social network/news sites like Reddit.com where content is largely user-generated are considered primary sources and not reliable sources in themselves by Wikipedia's standards. Please note that I did not revert the info you posted, and that the tag I placed has a question mark following "unreliable source". So my intent was not to "deem" your source as unreliable so much it was to raise a question about whether it met the reliabilty threshold per Wikipedia's standards & guidelines. The guidelines do allow for exceptions in which the use of such primary sources is acceptable, but it was unclear to me whether this was such a case, so I marked it as a "heads up" to the reader.
I see you've removed the tag, and I will not replace it as you've made a good argument for ignoring all the rules. If you continue to contribute to Wikipedia, which I hope you will, remember not to take it personally if your contributions are changed/tagged/reverted, etc. Just assume good faith on the part of the editor(s) making the change(s) and discuss the issue with them in a civil manner. Which is exactly what you did this time, and for that I thank you. Regards.-- JayJasper ( talk) 17:57, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Biography for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. - Mabeenot ( talk) 16:48, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for cleaning up my grammar. I went to the dentist today, and when I made those edits I was still partially under the influence of local anaesthesia. Part of the shot of anaesthesia missed my gums and went to my brain..... maybe.... (hey, it could happen.....) Famspear ( talk) 20:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

You do not agree that the paragraphs critical of Romney's performance are needed to balance the paragraphs critical of Obama's performance? They were well-sourced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michaelmalak ( talk • contribs) 19:36, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi JayJasper,
I notice that you're a Wikipedian in Virginia... I'm wondering if you or anyone you know lives close enough to Red Onion State Prison ( 37°6′40″N 82°33′00″W / 37.11111°N 82.55000°W) to take a photo of it for Commons? It's in Wise County. I'm working on an expansion of the article, but there are no free use images of the place to be found. (If you're not close and you don't know who is, just forwarding to someone who's closer would be helpful). Thanks! groupuscule ( talk) 08:28, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Jay, thanks for the very nice comment on my talk page. I'm not sure how active you are with Wikipedia:WikiProject United States presidential elections, but if this is an area where you have quite a bit of knowledge, as I suspect you might, you may want to take a look at this talk page discussion about rounding percentages at United States presidential election, 2012 (and all other election articles). If you feel like adding your thoughts to the discussion, I would defer to whatever your opinion is on the matter. Thanks again for your kind words. -- 76.189.101.221 ( talk) 03:40, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

December 10 is Ada Lovelace's birthday! Not only was she the world's first computer programmer, but also the world's first female open source developer! Come celebrate with Wikimedia District of Columbia at Busboys & Poets for an informal get together!
The Washington, DC event will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Busboys & Poets on 5th St NW & K St NW near Mt Vernon Square. The area is easily accessible by the Red Line Chinatown stop and the Yellow Line and Green Line Mt Vernon Square stop, as well as by WMATA buses.

Please join Wikimedia DC and four other local media nonprofits—the National Press Club's Young Members Committee, 100Reporters, IRE and the Fund for Investigative Journalism—in winding down another year with a night of well-mannered frivolity.
The festivities will take place on Friday evening from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM in the Zenger Room on the 13th Floor of the National Press Club, located on 529 14th Street NW, near Metro Center. There will be meat and vegetarian appetizers as well as a cash bar with specially reduced drink prices all night long. In addition, we will be exhibiting the finalists of the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest at the event.
Hope to see you there! Kirill [talk] 04:43, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
