Removing political position from infobox

Does anyone know why a user would make more than a dozen edits removing the political position from the pages of US political parties and put "Longstanding consensus not to include political positions for the democratic or republican parties" in their edit summary?

For reference, see [ edit here]. skarz ( talk) 16:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply

It's true that both the Republican and Democratic main articles don't include political positions per consensus – so they're right about that, at least. I'm not aware of any consensus that it applies to affiliated parties, however. I'd assume they're good faith in that they think it applies to affiliates, but I'm unsure if it actually does. — Czello ( music) 16:47, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I should have been more specific - they didn't remove it from the body of the article but the infobox template on the side. skarz ( talk) 16:52, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply
AFAIK, the consensus to exclude from the infoboxes, covers only the federal political parties. GoodDay ( talk) 16:53, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Not going to read the massive wall of text but it would appear at a surface level that you are right. skarz ( talk) 17:02, 14 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Hello, sorry everyone, I was the editor that started removing it. I now understand that it may not be included in the specific consensus I was talking about. I was worried it left open an area of potential bias. For example most state level democratic parties that have positions listed, put democratic state parties as center to center-left, however most state level republican parties that have positions listed put it as right-wing and far-right, and I'm worried it could be used to frame the republican party as a fascist or a neo-fascist style party. Thats all. My intentions were good! Sorry for the intrusion everyone.
That's highly problematic putting any Democratic state party as centre or centre-left. By global standards they are far from. By global standards they are clearly neo-liberal/capitalist, which would put them on the right (centrist at best). Note: being progressive on individual issues is not a particularly left-right stance. TarnishedPath talk 08:02, 17 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Why is an Australian applying global standard to American politics? skarz ( talk) 15:36, 17 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Because people other than Americans read Wikipedia and would want a reference point to what they know? TarnishedPath talk 05:32, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I can't seem to find anything suggesting that the English Wikipedia writes articles specifically about American politics from a global perspective. Can you show me something I can read on that topic? WP:NPOV, WP:PG, and WP:MONDIAL are no help. skarz ( talk) 05:49, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Clarification on categories named similarly to Category:Russian nationalists - "nationalists from Russia" or "adherents of Russian nationalism"?

I've seen some categories named similarly to this that seem a bit ambiguous, such as Category:Ukrainian fascists and would like some clarification. Namely, does this category, and by extension similarly named categories, refer to "fascists from Ukraine" or "adherents of Ukrainian nationalist fascism"? While there is significant overlap between those groups, they should not be treated as one in the same. Pavel Gubarev is a good example, being a Russian nationalist fascist from Ukraine. Should he be placed in Category:Russian fascists or Category:Ukrainian fascists? I'd say that the "adherents of Ukrainian nationalist fascism" or "adherents of Russian nationalism" interpretation would make more sense, but it would be useful to have explicit clarification on this subject. Political international

Courtesy link:  Talk:Political international § Original research, sourcing, title, and notability

I've tagged numerous problems at the Political international article, and some feedback at Talk would be good. The main problem is that it seems to be original research from beginning to end. I'm not even sure there's a notable topic behind it, as initial searches were not fruitful. Lots more details at the discussion I started. Normally, I'd ping a few of the top editors or recent ones but no one stood out, it just kind of grew slowly from a lot of editors over time. Ironically, purely from the tags I added just now, I'm already the #2 editor at the article. So, I'm bringing it here instead, in case anyone is interested. If not, I'll probably take it to WP:Afd after a week or so, but if there's a real topic there, I hope someone can rescue the article. Thanks, Mathglot ( talk) 02:56, 18 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Adding Advocacy campaigns section to Global Strategy Group article

Hello, I'm an employee at the political consulting firm Global Strategy Group. I recently posted an edit request to the GSG Talk page asking editors to consider adding an Advocacy campaigns section to the article. As currently constructed, the article has plenty of information about GSG's electoral and corporate work, but not much about the polling, research, and communications work it has done on social and political issues like gun safety, abortion access, and criminal justice reform. If that topic sounds interesting to you, please take a look at my request on the GSG Talk page. ( Link here.) I've done my best to write a section draft that aligns with Wikipedia's content guidelines, but I'm willing to take direction from independent editors, if they believe the draft can be improved upon.
