Color Country is an area encompassing Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, and Southern Nevada. The area is at the merging of three great ecosystems, the Mojave Desert, the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin. The area includes 29 National Parks, National Monuments and State Parks, 4 large wildlife preserves in addition to 3 man-made wonders including Lake Powell, Lake Mead and Las Vegas.

Originally the are was inhabited by Desert Archaic Culture, Fremont Culture and Numic (Shoshone) people. Later the Anasazi were present for a short period. Most recently the Southern Paiute and Ute (Nuciu) people with small areas visited by Navajo people. Utah history to go.</ref>

Wildlife includes the Gila monster, peregrine falcon and coyote. Other notable wildlife include the giant desert hairy scorpion, coyote, Mojave sidewinder, red-spotted toad, Utah banded gecko, and the side-blotched lizard, among many others.
