The Quin is a luxury lifestyle hotel in New York City. It is located on 57th Street and Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, 2 blocks south of Central Park.

Early History

Prior to its 2013 reopening, the Quin was originally the Buckingham Hotel, a Beaux-Arts style building designed by American architect, Emery Roth, which opened in 1929. [1] Because of its proximity to Broadway, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art, the hotel frequently hosted painters, writers, dancers, choreographers, musicians, and conductors throughout the twentieth century.

2013 Opening

The Quin opened on November 11, 2013 with an architectural redesign by New York, New York based firm Perkins Eastman. It has 208 guestrooms including 28 suites.

Attachés

The Quin Attaché provide in-depth concierge services to hotel guests, curating individualized New York experiences highlighting the arts, fine dining, and sporting events.

Quin Arts

Quin Arts, the Quin’s contemporary art initiative, presents an ongoing series of events, exhibitions, salons, lectures, film premieres, book debuts, musical performances, and artist receptions. This multi-media program extends to a permanent collection, along with an artist-in-residence program; large-scale displays on the lobby’s 15-foot abstract video art wall, which are specifically created for the hotel; and salons with participating artists.

The Quin currently houses 18 original pieces by artists from around the world. The collection includes works by Blek le Rat, the Paris-based “godfather of street art;” YZ; Eric Zener; Wulf Von Treu, “the German Basquiat;” and Irish painter Patrick Graham. This collection includes 15 new pieces from Bristol-based street artist, Nick Walker, and will continue to grow with original works commissioned through the Quin Arts’ artist-in-residence program.
