Account histories (including previous accounts)
When you provide a link to a discussion on your talk page, that link becomes misdirected once you archive your talk page. It'll lead to your current talk page, rather than to the relevant section of the archive page with the discussion.
What's the solution?
Make your archive page ahead of time, with a redirect to your talk page. And...
Never link to your talk page. Instead, link to the redirected archive page. The heading specifier in your link will be passed through the redirect and will lead to the matching section on your talk page!
When you archive your talk page, your links to its discussions will still work! Because that's where they were pointing to in the first place.
Today's featured list is: June 19.
Edit summaries can be a pain, but did you know Wikipedia has somewhat standardized short forms for the common edit summaries? These can reduce the time spent summarizing your edits, so you can spend more time writing. See Wikipedia:Edit summary legend.
You may also find standardized correction "marginal marks" useful (many are abbreviations). Here are a couple of links:

I've lost track of how many articles I've worked on, but my passion is projects (not necessarily WikiProjects), and it is on these I've applied most of my effort...
Early edits
After about a thousand edits, on November 11, 2005, I created an account. As
Go for it!, I:
Got tired of the name "Go for it!" (sort of one-dimensional), and tried out various usernames until I settled on my current one.
Throughout my time on Wikipedia, I've done extensive work on lists and Wikipedia's main navigation header and its member pages. I'm still working on them.
After getting somewhat burnt-out on lists, I spent more time on other types of projects...
Having recovered from list burn-out, I began to work on lists again more and more, along with various other projects...
More and better outlines.
I just want to thank you for building on my tip and making it a true wikipedia tip of the day. I'm still learning a lot about how to do things around here, so your help was greatly appreciated! Keep up the great work, and keep on Going for it! Filmcom 14:36, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

I think you need recognition for doing the job of ten other editors, and doing it out of altruism and genuine belief in Wikipedia. Not many editors here have the same good attitude and provide the same service as you - I don't have any specific point to put across, but I thought you should just be prodded and reminded that you do a lot of good around here, in the hope you'll keep it up. Many years ago, back before I had created my current account, I created a humble little userspace navigation menu based off of two of your menus from the User Page Design Center (initially 15, but ultimately 6). Over the years it has grown, but I don't know if I ever would have started it without seeing your menus first. I just want to thank you for putting the effort into creating those menus and then sharing them at the Design Center where they have been helpful for people like me. I hope you don't mind me borrowing from your hard work! Thanks again and take care! Michael Barera ( talk) 03:30, 13 January 2013 (UTC) |
