I visited and contributed to this article simply because the building is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. But isn't this the statehouse which was subject of controversy for having a Confederate battle flag flying, which figured into the 2000 or 2004 U.S. presidential election campaign? I am honestly not sure, but there seems to be some well-veiled reference in the article. For wikipedia, let's document that there was a controversy, please. Or tell me if I have the wrong place. doncram ( talk) 00:49, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Seems like there should be mention of previous state houses in the article. This is the second state house to be on the site, and before that, Charleston would have had a state house of some kind since it was the capital until it was moved to Columbia DJGristle ( talk) 21:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
