"He gave this site (known to Hernándo Cortés as Santa Cruz) its modern name" It doesn't seem obvious from the text or context what Vizcaino renamed. What did he rename that was formerly Santa Cruz? Was it La Paz? California?
Why did the Japanese injure him? Where is Salagua and why was he facing off with Dutch pirates? His men having fled, did the pirates raid?
Looks like the same guy, should be merged.

Definitely the same guy, with just a misspelled name. Merge the articles and delete the smaller one. You spell his name Sebestián Vizcaíno for sure. I'm currently working on a history book that mentions him, and I have triple checked his name. 09:04, 1 August 2007
