Merge proposal

Oppose a merger to Malachi Junction. There are a series of articles on destroyed Palestinian villages. When they had a different name than that of the site/town built of the ruins thereafter, they should be covered in their own article. Further, why should a town with a long history of habitation be merged into an article on a traffic intersection? If anything, the article on the traffice intersection should not exist,as the information from there can be easily covered in the article on Qastina, in a section on the site today. Thanks. Scratch my last comment on merger into Qastina. There is an article on Kiryat Malakhi and as Malachi Junction serves as a central bus station for the town, I have placed a merge proposal at Malachi Junction for merger into that article. Tiamut talk 12:50, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Ignoring the facts will not make them go away. Say "Qastina" to 99% of the people in Israel (including Palestinians) and they will say "a traffic intersection". -- Gabi S. ( talk) 13:28, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Do you have a source for that? Or is that your own personal opinion? Further, even if true, that does not mean that a separate article discussing Qastina's history as a Palestinian village cannot co-exist with articles on Kiryat Malakhi (and Malachi Junction, which really should be merged into the article on the town since it is the site of Kiryat Malakhi's central bus station). The fact that people refer to the intersection as Qastina, can be mentioned in both articles (if properly sourced). Merging an article on a Palestinian town into an article on a traffic intersection built upon its ruins though is inappropriate. Tiamut talk 13:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
I will try to find a source some day. Anyway, you're right: each of these deserves its own article. The junction article should mention the village that was there, and the village article should mention the junction that is there today. However, I don't agree about the merge you proposed: the Malachi junction (usually called "Qastina junction") is quite far from the Kiryat Malakhi city, and is an important traffic point, with many details irrelevant to Kiryat Malakhi (such as events that happened there, commercial development in the area, and so on). I will put my objection there as well. -- Gabi S. ( talk) 19:56, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Thanks for coming around. As I said to Ynhockey, I won't push for a merger of Malachi Junction to Kiryat Malakhi if he thinks the article can be expanded. Given his recent additions to the article, and his outline of where he would like to take it next, I will remove the tag there too. Tiamut talk 20:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC) reply

questions

Khalidi, 1992, does not have this place in the 1922 census, but I assume it is there as Kastina, with 406 Muslims. (Typo on Pal. Rem site? They write 604…a number which then decreases in the 1931 census -->not very likely.) Cheers, Huldra ( talk) 08:49, 2 December 2013 (UTC) reply
