Production poster dispute

@ Aspects Please stop reverting. You are not providing a valid reason why you keep switching back to the old production poster. The new one is updated for an upcoming production on Broadway. Let's discuss this further here until we can find common ground. Smitty1999 ( talk) 22:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Per WP:BRD, you made a BOLD edit, replacing the London poster with the Broadway poster. Each time I reverted was with an edit summary of reverting back to preferred original production file in the infobox. It is preferred to have the original production artwork/promotional material and you have not explained why the Broadway poster should be used instead. Now that a discussion has been started the article should go back to the status quo of the London poster unless there is a consensus to change it to the Broadway poster. @ Aspects other pages have made changes to production posters to bring them up to date. That is exactly why I have implemented this. I did this similarly on Back to The Future and Days of Wine and Roses. The previous production posters were out of date and needed to be updated. With Back to the Future, for example, the original poster had a picture of an actor in the show who was no longer in the show. The London production poster is out of date as the actor on that poster, Tom Hollander, is not transferring with the upcoming Broadway production. Therefore, it is out of date and needs to be updated. Smitty1999 ( talk) 22:42, 25 February 2024 (UTC) reply
To avoid edit wars, other forms of media have preferences for what should be in the infobox. First edition covers of book, original artwork for country the musical artist is from for music and final poster artwork for country the film is from. Looking through many play and musical articles, they have the first production in the infobox unless there was a Broadway or West End production, then that is used. If a production has had both of these productions, then which ever came first is used. It is using these guides that avoid edit warring and that the London production poster should be used in the infobox. Infoboxes should be consistent and should not need constant updating to the images. As for you revert, I am again going to revert it since a consensus has not been found to make the change. I did not edit Wikipedia for one day and you used it as a reason to revert, given that that there was an ongoing discussion I had already applied to. The solution is to gain a consensus, not which every person last responded makes the edit they want. Aspects ( talk) 21:45, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I asked for a third opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Theatre for help with this dispute. Aspects ( talk) 18:00, 29 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I agree with user:Aspects, who notes that it would be wise to orient ourselves according to first edition covers of book, original artwork for albums and that sort of thing. Wikipedia must avoid even the impression of being a place to advertise. We lose objective credibility as a result. -- Melchior2006 ( talk) 13:50, 26 March 2024 (UTC) reply
