The history section previously stated: Marshfield was settled in 1868, quoting the Columbia-Lippincott Gazetteer. Jones' 1923 History of Wood County agrees that the Rivers arrived in 1868, but the 1997 The Marshfield Story 1872 - 1997 clearly contradicts, stating 1872. The newer source was apparently written by Jeff Kleiman, a local history professor, and reviewed by other local historians, so I'm inclined to favor it, though I don't know the evidence for the later date. There are several people on the "Notable People" section who should probably be removed. Several of them may have been born at the hospital in Marshfield but grew up in Stratford, Auburndale, Pittsville, etc. Is someone who grew up and lived 20 miles from Marshfield really a notable person from Marshfield? Seems to be a stretch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.233.94.241 ( talk) 16:58, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm removing the claim that Marshfield's population around 1885 was all of New England origin. No source was cited, and the 1880 census lists people born in Bavaria, Prussia, Germany, France, etc. along with people born in the U.S. Jeff the quiet ( talk) 14:26, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

I removed the reference to the 2014 school rankings data. This appears to be cherry-picked, from the peak of MHS's school ratings, and recent data is much less flattering. Either the most up-to-date, fully-inclusive data should be used or the ranking information should be excluded. I opted for the latter as their are known deficiencies / biases in these metrics.
