It depends on which physical layer we're discussing. "Free topology" runs slower than, say 1.25 Mb/s RS-485.
Standard LON network is 78kbps. Slow by today's standards, but quite robust. This seems like a useful addition to the article.

Doesn't this article need a "See also" section, mentioning other similar standards, and/or a "Categories" link, as in the CAN-bus article?
