This seems a little odd. We have
Académie Julian in English, why are we linking to French Wikipedia? --

I see that a large number of entries have been removed from this list by
Chicbyaccident. I haven't seen, and can't guess at, any reason for doing that. Has there been any discussion of the proposed changes?

Yes, there have been some red link entries which have been deleted. Most, however, have been moved to (merged with)
List of art universities and colleges in Europe. Both articles needed much to work. Now at least the latter is in a little bit more coherent state.

This page lists schools at or above higher (tertiary) undergraduate education, despite claims to the contrary.
At the top of the page it says "This is a list of art schools in Europe, containing art schools below higher (tertiary) undergraduate education." When I follow the link to see what "
higher (tertiary)" education means, I read "Higher education is tertiary education leading to award of an academic degree. Higher education, also called post-secondary education, third-level or tertiary education, is an optional final stage of formal learning that occurs after completion of secondary education" If this list is to contain schools *below* that level, then it follows that it is referring to "secondary" education or even lower, which is not for a degree and, following the link for "
secondary" education extends no further than 19 years of age. But I took a not so random sampling of schools in this list: I followed the link to *every* school listed in the Netherlands (that have links); and as far as I can tell they all appear to be universities for degrees or higher education with no mention of any secondary or "below higher" education offered at any of them.
Further, this page also says "However, it does exclude (1) institutions of (tertiary) higher education (instead listed in List of art universities and colleges in Europe)" but if I go to this link 10 out of the 16 links on
this page for the Netherlands also appear on
that page as well. — Preceding

The text in the lead section specifying pre-tertiary schools was introduced by
PPEMES in
this edit, who had earlier added an equivalent hatnote
here. These changes were not discussed here, and they do not reflect the earlier content of the list.
The criterion may have been added to distinguish this list from List of art universities and colleges in Europe. It is reasonable to have separate lists for pre-tertiary and tertiary institutions, but the name of this article does not indicate this. The Art school and List of art schools articles include university-level institutions.
My preferred solution is to rename the article to '
List of secondary-level art schools in Europe', delete the primary-level art schools (if there are any), and to merge the tertiary-level schools into the other list. To do this we would have to delete any unlinked and unsourced schools.
